Project Runway, Ep. 10.1

So glad to have Project Runway back! And soooo glad to have Heidi and Tim Gunn back!!! Last season's All Star season, just wasn't the same without them.

16 designers and a live runway show in Times Square to start off Season 10—here we go! Don't expect a lot of details, because 16 people is a lot to keep track of!

Each designer made a signature look before arriving. They now have to make a companion piece. First trip to Mood: Kooan runs around like a lunatic (imagine that).

Gunnar is proving to be the diva of the group. Boy can that guy complain! He acts like he's so much better than everyone else. Being a self-proclaimed bitch, this could be a very long season...especially if he and Christopher stick around for a long time. Christopher says he's on the wrong show, Gunnar needs to be on Toddlers and Tiaras. Ha!

Some quick observations about a few of the designers:
Buffi—the loud, fun one
Dmitry—the quiet, serious one
Andrea—the old, grandmother, professor
Gunnar—the whiny, gay Diva
Kooan—the strange, bizarre enigma: who or what is this guy??

Tim's Consultations:
Melissa—he is intriqued
Sonjia—he's not digging the jacket
Buffi—not a bit not too much
Kooan—Tim has no idea what's going on and is thoroughly confused, Christopher says “it looks like Liberacei threw up.”
Beatrice—just play with it
Fabio—the skirt is a throw away, first look works
Lantie—still making decisions, Tim says you should know at this point
Elena—commit and execute
Ven—Tim's impressed
Andrea—you know what you're doing
Raul—state of indecision
Christopher—he's taken by it, potential for a serious wow moment

Kooan—"It's so hot I want to shave my head!" Please do!!

Runway time:

Ven: both are very pretty
9 out of 10

Beatrice: the first one is kind of plain, but the second one is really nice looking
8 out of 10

Lantie: interesting fabric—it looks like it has little cotton balls attached to it, second one is interesting
7 out of 10

Andrea: very plain, black and white panels, the second one—whoa, she looks like she swallowed a globe, yuck!
5 out of 10

Christopher: first look nice, but really bunches in the back, second one is really pretty and flowy
9 out of 10

Alicia: look it's little red riding hood in a jumpsuit!, ew it looks gross in the back with a gaping hole at the neck, but then that giant red hood; second look is much better, very cool top, bottom is strange
6 out of 10

Elena: very futuristic, second look is a little too out-there—so boxy!
7 out of 10

Buffi: like the first look, very cool; second look also cool, I love the colors of both
9 out of 10

Dmitry: talk about puffy sleeves!, I like the metallic shimmer on the first one; the second one is interesting, kind of a boring color though
8 out of 10

Kooan: looks like he got lost in a circus! So many colors all together, it looks like a clown threw up (not Liberace) and what is that around her neck? A camera? This guy scares me! Second look is so much better, but still not great.
4 out of 10

Gunnar: hate the green olive color, but style is cool, second look is nice
8 out of 10

Nathan: very pretty on both looks!
10 out of 10

Sonjia: looks a bit mismatched, too much going on; second look is better
7 out of 10

Melissa: stunning first look! Short, short in the front and long, long in the back; second look is a little blah
8 out of 10

Raul: nice pant suit, very stylish, but a little too see-through on the top, second look, a little too cottonbally
8 out of 10

Fabio: Ok, first look, very blah second look that does absolutely nothing for the model's body shape
6 out of 10

Based on my scores:
The top 3 would be: Ven, Buffi, Gunnar or Christopher
The bottom 3 would be: Kooan, Andrea, Alicia or Fabio

Their top 3: Melissa, Ven, Christopher
Their bottom 3: Kooan, Beatrice, Lantie

The Winner: Christopher
Auf Wiedersehen: Beatrice

Sad to see Beatrice go. I definitely didn't think that she was the worst designer, or had the worst outfits.
