X Factor, Ep. 3.19

Top 8 Results

Elimination #1: Lillie McCloud
It's a Thanksgiving miracle! I can't believe she is finally gone! No disrespect to Lillie, who does have a great voice...but the X Factor was just not the right place for her. It was way past her time to go.

In Jeopardy: Rion Paige and Josh Levi
I'm totally OK with this result. I'm not a huge fan of either of them. While talented, I'm just not all that excited for either of them any more. I would have also been more than OK with Restless Road or Ellona Santigao being in the bottom.

Final Showdown
Rion Paige--She walked out on stage like she meant business! Her lower notes were almost non-existent. I didn't like her phrasing, it was just awkward--probably because this Pink song doesn't really work in that arrangement, in trying to make it a country song. She gave it a good try, and she sang with a lot of heart and emotion. I don't know if it will be enough against Josh.

Josh Levi--Perfect song choice: Bruno Mars - "If I Was Your Man". His vocals were really good, and the whole performance was really good. I think he has shown more potential and consistency than Rion. I also think this performance was better than Rion's.

Side note: Paulina Rubio announced Josh Levi, as her OTHER act, Carlito Olivero! How embarrassing! EPIC FAIL! I guess we know who she liked better.

Judges Save:
Demi sends home Josh
Paulina sends home Rion
Kelly sends home Rion
Simon sends home Josh

That means it is a deadlock. Simon purposely chose Josh to let the public's vote decide. As it turns out Josh Levi got the fewest votes, and was eliminated.

Wow. I really think it should have been Rion going home, but whatever. But, when you think about it, Josh was brought back as a Wild Card, so technically, he shouldn't have even been there in the first place.

Top 6:
Carlito Olivero (Boys-Paulina)
Ellona Santiago (Girls-Demi)
Rion Paige (Girls-Demi)
Alex & Sierra (Groups-Simon)
Restless Road (Groups-Simon)
Jeff Gutt (Over 25s-Kelly)

X Factor, Ep. 3.18

Theme: Big Band
Seriously? Yet another horrible and way overdone theme. Why can't American Idol  and X Factor take cues from The Voice? The Voice does songs that are happening and popular NOW. Sure, they throw in a couple old songs here and there, but they don't make a whole night of it, and force every singer to sing from that category. I can tell you right now, I'm going to hate every single song...including Michael BublĂ©'s opening number. It's going to be hard to critique their singing when I don't like the songs.

Rion Paige - Girls (Demi)
She handled the fast pace and up-tempo song very well. We're used to hearing her sing ballads, so this was a nice change. She struggled a little bit with the lower notes, but the rest was good. I thought the moving around and choreography that she isn't used to performing with would make her get out of breath or lose her pitch, but she didn't.

Restless Road - Groups (Simon)
OK, am I a dummy? Since when is "Life is a Highway" a "big band" song? It was an OK performance, but I wasn't blown away. I'm not sure why the coaches were so positive about it. Listening to the performance a second time, I was even less impressed with it. I thought parts of their harmonies were off, and again, the lead singer and the really low singer, just don't sound good on the solo parts! This time, the cute singer on the right got even LESS solo time than usual. He should have ALL the solo parts ALL of the time! Why doesn't Simon or anyone else realize this? Am I the only one who thinks this?

Jeff Gutt - Over 25s (Kelly)
"Feelin' Good" was the absolute perfect song choice for Jeff! This was absolutely amazing! That song has been done so many times, but he killed it and it was epic! The last note was insane! Again, he is on a completely different level from everyone else. There is no comparison. Simon was right, he owned that song.

Josh Levi - Boys (Paulina)
OK, so this really is not "big band" either--Bruno Mars. So, they apparently, could just pick any song they wanted to and perform it with a "big band". This song really should be right up his alley, but I wasn't that impressed. The music overpowered his vocals. He sang it well, and performed it well, but I just wasn't wowed.

Carlito Olivero - Boys (Paulina)
I'm glad Paulina encouraged him to do another Latino song. I think that's why he was in the bottom last week. This Ricky Martin song, "Cup of Life" is a great song for him. He sounds amazing! There were times when I thought he sounded just like Ricky Martin! He gave a great performance. His vocals were right on, and he moved around the stage well. I think this was his best performance. He was even getting the crowd involved. He looked like a real superstar performing in a concert or on an awards show. Great job, Carlito! Simon was right, he was so comfortable on that song.

Alex & Sierra - Groups (Simon)
Oh my goodness! They totally changed this song, and I love it! It took me forever to figure out what song it was. It's Taylor Swift's "I Knew You Were Trouble". The song has never sounded better. They were on fire tonight! They are so clever with their song choices and their arrangements.

Lillie McCloud - Over 25s (Kelly)
Oh boy, I do NOT like this at all! Yuck! I didn't think I could hate this song any more than when Fantasia sang it. Well, she just took it to another level and not in a good way. She was making strides last week, but she went back to her old ways on this song. It's not my style, and I agree with Simon--I think he would do a better job mentoring her.

Ellona Santiago - Girls (Demi)
I think this was a better performance than last week. I think the song allowed her to show off her vocals better. I think there was still too much going on on the stage, and I didn't care for her wardrobe change. A lot of unnecessary things. Just sing, Ellona...you have an incredible voice! I agree with Simon, again...back-up dancers need to go.

Final Face-Off
All 8 acts will be singing together in a battle against each other. This is very interesting, and it's never been done on the show before. How cool is it that Michael Bublé is mentoring them!

Jeff opened it up, and I wish he was singing the whole song! Alex & Sierra's part was also awesome! Everyone else did pretty good. I hated Lillie McCloud's part, and I hate when they have the deep singing guy from Restless Road singing solo.

Survivor, Ep. 27.11

Redemption Island Duel
Emotions are running high as Laura sees Ciera again, after Ciera had voted her out.

It's Vytas vs. Tina vs. Laura

Thank goodness this is a more physical challenge, so hopefully Tina will go home. They have to work boxes through a long, woven tunnel. Then, with the boxes, they have to take the boxes and line up the sides so that each side has no repeating colors.

Vytas and Laura are neck and neck, and Tina is struggling, 1 box behind them. Laura finishes first and she it's correct! Vytas tries to look at Laura's, but she stands in the way and is even HELPING Tina. No!!! Come on Vytas! Tina is completely caught up. Oh no! 1 second difference, and Tina gets it! Noooooooo! Ugh! Tina would be going home if it wasn't for Laura. Laura is just a beast. Her 2nd time at Redemption is going the same way her first time did. At this rate, she is going to make it back into the game for a 3rd time. I can't believe the moms took out Vytas.

Well, Ponderosa is going to be adding another Baskauskas.

Laura gives the clue to the hidden idol to Ciera, and Ciera burns it.

Kasama Camp
Tyson thinks that Ciera needs to go because she already has 3 potential jury votes already with her mom putting a good word in for her. Hayden has other ideas. He thinks that Tyson might need to go before he can take them out. Caleb agrees that a blindside might be a good idea because he is a strong player who has a lot of control right now.

Ciera talks to Hayden and Caleb and they tell her about blindsiding Tyson. She says she would like to make a final 3 with Hayden and Caleb. However, she doesn't really want to work with them because they are so willing to flop. She goes right to Tyson and tells him the plan and she says she will vote however he wants to. Crap! Now, it's Ciera with Tyson, Monica, and Gervase going against Caleb, Hayden and Katie. Crap! This is NOT good! Hayden really, really needs to win immunity now more than ever!

Hayden starts to get paranoid and thinks that Ciera might tell Tyson. Katie and Hayden think that if Ciera doesn't win immunity that they should go after her instead of Tyson.

Immunity Challenge
Another repeat challenge from a previous season. They have to hold a bucket by a rope. As time goes, the rope will begin to unravel until they can't hold on any longer. They have the choice to feast instead. Tyson, Gervase and Ciera decide to eat instead of compete. Thank you Hayden for NOT going for the food. It really says a lot about the people who did not compete...they think they're safe.

Katie is the first one out. Monica looks like she could go all day. Caleb says the skin is ripping off his hands. Hayden's bucket is slipping, but he continues to crank it back to the top, even though his hands are blistered. Caleb can't hold on any longer, and Hayden says he won't be writing his name down. It's down to Hayden and Monica. I am going to be absolutely sick if Monica wins another one. Again...I can't watch! This is as much torture for me watching as it is for Hayden competing. You've got to be kidding me, Monica wins again! Ugh!!!!! She couldn't give Hayden just one? Come on!

Kasama Camp
Hayden and Katie are very suspicious of the 3 that decided not to compete. They think they must be working together. Hayden thinks they should ask Tyson if they are planning on voting either of them to see what he says. They think maybe they can work an angle with him and show him that the 2 sides are being pitted against each other by Ciera. Oh good, Tyson agrees with them. He didn't think it made sense for them to go after him. Tyson doesn't trust Ciera, but he doesn't really trust Hayden and Caleb either. They could be just trying to make him feel comfortable. Tyson is thinking about using his idol, just to be safe.

The talk around camp is that it's going to be Ciera, but anything could happen. Tyson tells Gervase what Hayden and Caleb had said. He says that he tends to believe what they are saying and he knows Ciera is a threat because she can lie to anyone's face better than anyone out there.

Tribal Council
Uh oh, I think Hayden is talking a little too much. Gervase looks right at him when he says that he hopes he can trust people.

Tyson plays the idol!!!! In epic fashion, Tyson digs through his bag, asks Katie to hold something, then dumps everything in his bag on the ground, sifts through the mess and then hands Jeff the idol.

The Vote:
Ciera
Caleb
Ciera
Ciera
Caleb
Caleb
Caleb

So, it's 4-3...that means Ciera sided with Team Tyson. Oh crap! I can't believe they did it! Hayden looked stunned. Caleb was shocked too. I'm a little surprised that Hayden wasn't #1 on their hit list instead of Caleb, but I'm glad he wasn't. It gives Hayden 3 more days to try to scramble and put something together. I'm really worried for him. The immunity challenges have not been going very well for him. They all suit other people better than him. He gave this one a good run, but Monica had to go and outlast him. Good luck Hayden, you're going to need it. You're on a sinking ship and you're going down fast. Someone throw the man a life preserver! Go Hayden!

Dancing With The Stars, Ep. 17.12: Finale

Freestyle Encore
The public tweeted, and they wanted to see Amber & Derek's freestyle again. This could be very telling...people love freestyles, and the freestyle "winner" usually wins it all. So...does this mean Amber will be the winner?

What Does The Fox Say?
We get to see another performance by the group that brought us this awesome group dance...sung by the artist live. Still an awesome dance! They pointed out that the 3 finalists were all in this group dance. I knew this group was stacked heavily in their favor...the other team didn't stand a chance.

24-Hour Fusion Dances
Last night the pairs chose 2 dances for each other. The 2 dances have to be fused into one dance to one track of music....with only 1 day to prepare.

Corbin & Karina--ChaCha/Foxtrot
These  2 dances couldn't be more different, but they flowed seamlessly from the Foxtrot right into the fun and hip-gyrating ChaCha and right back into the Foxtrot. The dances looked like they belonged together, what an accomplishment! Great choreography from Karina.
Score: 27 (89 2-night total)

Jack & Cheryl--Paso Doble/Salsa
Wow, I was just so in awe, that I forgot I was supposed to be watching for the 2 dances! Luckily, I did snap out of it to recognize them both. He did very well at the Salsa for not ever dancing it before. His Paso was good of course, as well. Well done, and good luck Jack!
Score: 27 (84 2-night total)

Amber & Derek--Samba/Quickstep
These are both very quick dances, so it was pretty easy to put them together. I think at the end of this season, she's just tired. She was fast, but not like she has shown in the past. She didn't seem to be moving quite as quickly as Derek was. It was still really good though. Derek's choreography was just amazing...again. He did a great job of putting the 2 dances together to make 1 dance.
Score: 30 (94 2-night total)

I don't think there has ever been that much of a spread in the finale. The scores are usually very close, within a point or 2. There's 10 points separating first and last place, and Amber is ahead of Corbin by 5 points. Wow.

The Results
3rd Place: Jack & Cheryl (he tied his sister Kelly, who also took 3rd place back in Season 9)
2nd Place: Corbin & Karina
WINNER: AMBER & DEREK (Derek is now an unprecedented 5-time winner!!! And, it's his 2nd back-to-back win...that's just crazy!)

The Voice, Ep. 5.20

James Wolpert - Team Adam
I can't wait to hear him sing "Somebody to Love" by Queen. This could be amazing. I love the choir surrounding him at the beginning, that was really cool. How funny that the entire male choir is not only dressed like him, but all are wearing the exact same signature glasses that he is. OK, now the singing....so good! The way he started out calm and gradually built it up, and then he hit that big money note. It was absolutely incredible! I loved the way he made his way out into the audience. I think his performance level was so much greater than what we've seen in previous weeks. Adam is one pretty proud papa after that one.

Tessanne Chin - Team Adam
I like that she's delving into her Jamaican roots. I think the Jamaican vibe works well with this No Doubt song. Her rapping section was dope! It definitely showed a different side of her. We all know she has a powerhouse voice, but she is very versatile. It was also nice to see her having some fun. She looked like an absolute professional performer out there. She was so confident with that song. Wow! Another proud moment for Adam.

Caroline Pennell - Team CeeLo
She was going for a different song, and she found it with "Dog Days Are Over" by Florence and the Machine. If you ask me, this was absolutely not the right song! I HATE this song with a passion! I can't stand it! For an awful song, she did an OK job with it. I don't think was as big of a stretch as CeeLo was saying it was going to be for her. I think parts of the song lent itself to her voice very well. I'm still not going to be a fan of this song though. It lasted way too long, in my opinion, and I had to fast forward through the end just to make it stop...I couldn't take it any more. Nothing against Caroline, because I love her, but that song is just terrible.

Cole Vosbury - Team Blake
2 really good performances in a row...Cole might be winning me over. Maybe. He's still not my favorite, but I do enjoy his performances.

Matthew Schuller - Team Christina

Dancing With The Stars, Ep. 17.11

I can't believe it's time for the Finale already!

Round 1: Judges' Picks

Bill & Emma-Viennese Waltz
It took them A LONG time to get to any dancing. Len should like it, there were no frills, just straight waltz. He looked like he improved his timing, which is one of the things he has struggled with. Except at the end, he looked like he was rushing a little bit. However, he always was a little better with the ballroom dances versus the Latin dances. Side note: Emma really looks like Julianne Hough, especially with her hair like that...I never noticed that before.
Score: 24

Corbin & Karina-Quickstep
It's hard to find anything that Corbin needs to improve on. He does every dance so well. I don't really see anything different with this dance and the first time he did it. I thought it was good then, and it's good tonight as well.
Score: 27

Jack & Cheryl-Jive
If he can really nail the kicks and flicks this time, this will be amazing. He does look a little sharper this time around. I wouldn't say it was a huge improvement over the last time, but it was good.
Score: 24

Amber & Derek-Charleston
I think she improved this dance quite a bit. The synchronicty was better, and that was one thing they told her to work on. Her footwork was a lot better.
Score: 30

Round 2: Samba Relay

Amazing Race, Ep. 23.9

Leg 9: Abu Dhabi -> Bandung, Indonesia

Nicole and Travis lead it off. Leo & Jamal oversleep and end up leaving at the same time as Ally & Ashley. They are looking forward to confronting Nicole & Travis about why they U-Turned them. They met up at the airport and Nicole & Travis said that part of the reason was because they lied about the last U-Turn.

Route Info: They have to pick 2 rams and take them to the arena and they have to head-butt in order to be able to move on.

Nicole & Travis are first, followed by Ally & Ashley. Leo & Jamal were way too into it...man can they be annoying! Jason & Amy were in last. However...Tim & Marie's cab broke down before they could leave, and Jason & Amy passed them. KARMA!

Nicole & Travis and Ally & Ashley make the first train to leave to the next location. Leo & Jamal show up at the last minute and also make it on the train, to the dismay of Nicole & Travis. Jason & Amy literally showed up as the train was leaving. Darn it! How great would that have been if Tim & Marie were the only ones not to make that train?! Both teams now need to wait an hour for the next train.

Detour: For the Elephants or For the Birds
In For the Elephants, they have to collect food at the market and transport it on a trolly and feed the elephants. In For the Birds, they have to pick up a pair of matching birds and get it to sing for the judges.

Ally & Ashley do the elephants, and arrive first, followed by Leo & Jamal. Ally & Ashley were very confused and they didn't pick up the food from the market first. They showed up at the zoo first...bummer. Leo & Jamal were then in first. Ally & Ashley continue to struggle getting the food in the cab. They start to argue and decide that maybe they should do the birds instead. They stick with the elephants, and unlike Leo & Jamal, they had to make 2 trips with all the food because the sugar canes were too long. Jason & Amy show up as Ally & Ashley are leaving to get the rest of their food.

Marie wanted to see the elephants so "we are doing the elephants". Good grief...if I was Tim, it would be very hard to not punch her in the face. Tim & Marie also pass them up, and Ally & Ashley are now in last.

Nicole & Travis go for the birds and are first at their location. Their birds sing and they are moving on. They are the first team to get to the Road Block.

Road Block: Assemble Angklung
They have to assemble an instrument with 8 notes and play a complete octave.

Nicole chooses to do it even though Travis is the more musical of the 2. He thought that since they had a lead, he was comfortable with her doing it and that they would finish quickly and stay in first. Unfortunately, she didn't really get what an octave was and how to choose the different notes.

Leo & Jamal arrive and enter the arena and get everyone dancing with them...they looked like idiots. Leo passes up Nicole, who still can't figure it out. Jamal shouts to Leo to destroy his instrument so no one could cheat. Nicole ran over to try to see and he picked it up and was trying to run away from her as she was trying to look at it. These 2 teams are really not going to like each other now after that.

Tim, who is a music teacher, also finishes and his instrument is correct. Nicole is still trying. It's now a race between Amy and Nicole. Amy thinks she has it...and she does! Travis is embarrassed. Jason & Amy feel bad, so Amy goes back and helps Nicole. She practically puts it together for her! Wow, that's sportsmanship, but wow...it's a race!. At least they knew there were 2 teams behind them at that point.

Finally, Nicole finishes, and if it hadn't been for Amy, I don't think she would have ever gotten it.

Pitstop #9
1. Leo & Jamal
2. Tim & Marie
3. Jason & Amy
4. Nicole & Travis
5. Ally & Ashley

X Factor, Ep. 3.17

1st Elimination: Khaya Cohen
What?! Seriously? She was one of the better singers. I don't know why she didn't connect with the viewers.

In Jeopardy and Singing for Their Lives: Tim Olstad and Carlito Olivero

It's the battle of the boys...I kind of had a feeling it might come down to these 2. Tim started out very shaky and very off-pitch. He picked the perfect song. Again, he got stronger as the song went on. He ended very strong, but I think it could have been even better. I don't know if it's enough to change the mind of the judges who have been very critical of his performances since the very beginning. Carlito picked an interesting song, and I think he should have picked a Latino song, because that's when he really shines. The entire first half of the song was way too low, and was a little boring. Once he got to the chorus, it got much better. The second verse was also much better as the track picked up pace a little bit. He is definitely more of a performer than Tim, and that has been part of the judges' criticism of Tim.

Judges Save: Carlito
Kelly sends home--Tim

X Factor, Ep. 3.16

Top 10: British Invasion Week

Jeff Gutt - Over 25s (Kelly)
Whoa, "Bohemian Rhapsody" by Queen...that's a tough one! I think he will be amazing! I hope he can nail it so he doesn't fall into the category of people who have tried it and failed miserably. I like the set design for him this week. Yes, it is awesome! I've got goosebumps. He has the absolute perfect voice for this song, and he can put so much emotion into the lyrics, which sells it even better. Amazing performance. Jeff Gutt + "Bohemian Rhapsody" = perfection = goosebumps = X Factor winner, please!!!

Tim Olstad - Boys (Paulina)
I think playing the piano might be a good move for him this week. I LOVE this song! I know Elton sang it first, but I will always love the Blue version (that features Elton John). It's an amazing song...one of my favorites. I have to say, though, as good as this could have, and should have been, it just wasn't. He had a couple of uncharacteristic flat notes. I didn't like his phrasing of the song either. It sounded kind of rushed. Maybe I'm just used to the original. It was good, but it wasn't actually my favorite performance of his. I find it interesting that the judges actually liked this performance more than his others.

Khaya Cohen - Girls (Demi)
"Let it Be" by The Beatles...another great song choice tonight! I like seeing her sing something more toned down. This song allows her to show off her vocal skills...much more than last week. I like the changes she made to the song. Great performance! Wow, she really brought down the house at the end of that song. Holy crap! Beautiful!

Josh Levi - Boys (Paulina)
Wow, it took me a minute to figure out what song he was singing. He totally gives it a different vibe. I don't really know if it works on this song. I'm not loving it. It would have been better if he wouldn't have turned it into an R&B song and sang it like the original. He might as well have done a different song. Other than the words, not much was the same, and it wasn't changed for the better. Vocally, it was good, but I hated the song.

Alex & Sierra - Groups (Simon)
Covering One Direction? Should be interesting. One Directioners probably won't like it. I like the original, so I can't wait to see how they change it up. Whoa, look at that set! I love the bridge. Another song completely transformed and so different than the original. The difference between them changing a song, and Josh Levi changing a song is that theirs is actually good. Sorry Sierra, but I'm in love with Alex too. So cute, and that voice!

Rion Paige - Girls (Demi)

Survivor, Ep. 27.10

After Tribal
Katie realizes that she is in big trouble. Laura and Ciera are the only couple left in the game.  They think that they have the power in the game. Ciera seems to have taken on the leadership role over her mom. As someone who's never played the game, to be telling Laura, her mother, what to do...that's pretty interesting. Ciera also recognizes that she has a better chance of winning than her mother, so she may have to turn on her sooner rather than later.

Redemption Island Duel
I am so incredibly nervous for this duel. Aras and Vytas should have a huge advantage, but watch Tina go and do really well. If she knocks either Aras or Vytas out, I'm going to be VERY upset! Whoever loses will become the first jury member. I can't believe it's time for the jury already. You know what that means: PONDEROSA!

The challenge is a repeat of previous seasons where they have to throw a grappling hook to grab bags. Tina is killing it and getting a bag with each throw. Tina is the first to get all 4 bags. After the bags they take a ball and get it through on a table maze. Aaah! I'm so nervous! Oh no! Ara's ball falls through a hole! It's Tina vs. Vytas. She's at the final spot and needs it to go into the center hole, and Yes!...it falls in a hole and she has to start over! Vytas gets it in and he wins! Go Aras! Oh no, Tina is getting close again. I can't watch! This is killing me! Noooooo! Tina beat him! I am so bummed! I can't believe Aras is out! If it had to be one of them, I wish it would have been Vytas. At least Aras is a class act and handled it like a pro. He knew he got beat and he had no hard feelings. The only positive, is that we get to see Aras's beautiful face at every Tribal Council, and there's always the Ponderosa episodes!

As the winner, Vytas, gives the immunity clue to Katie because he thinks she needs it. For once, she keeps it and it doesn't get thrown into the fire. It's not going to do her much good since Tyson has the idol.

The Voice, Ep. 5.18

Austin Jenckes - Team Blake
For me, it seemed like his pitch was just under where it should have been for the whole song. This performance just didn't do it for me. I especially did not care for his screaming at the end. He's been so much better than this in the past. I don't think that's who he really is. I don't know, I just didn't get it.

Jacquie Lee - Team Christina
There were a couple of wonky notes at the beginning, but after that, it got better. This wasn't my favorite performance of hers, though. I thought the song choice would be a good one, but it didn't end up being as good as I thought it would be. The best part of the song was the beautiful run that she did at the end.

Will Champlin - Team Adam
I think this might be Will's best performance yet. I love his whole vibe, and I love him behind the piano. I think he killed it tonight! And it was even a song I'm not familiar with...but I liked it...I might have to check out the original.

Caroline Pennell - Team CeeLo
I'm not crazy about the song choice this week. She definitely has a style all her own, and it comes through on every performance. This one fell just a bit short for me this week, and it was a little too boring and sleepy.

Cole Vosbury - Team Blake
Whoa, this song takes me back to my childhood. I've always liked this song. He actually sounds a lot like the original. Blake was so right, this is definitely a guitar song. There was one part where I'm not sure if he forgot the words, or if he intentionally wasn't singing and it was just the back-up singers. Hmm... I think this was probably my favorite performance of his. I really enjoyed it.

Tessanne Chin - Team Adam
I'm not familiar with this song, and I'm not really a fan of it after hearing it. Tessanne is always amazing though, just didn't love the song. It isn't my favorite performance of hers, but she can sing the crap out of anything.

Ray Boudreaux - Team Blake
Oh my gosh, I just love Ray. I am so in love with his voice. It also doesn't hurt that he's really good looking. This was just a really good all-around performance. I really liked it. He sounded so much more sure of himself and he sang with a lot of confidence.

James Wolpert - Team Adam
After seeing the song list for the show tonight, I would have never guessed that he would be singing this song. He surprises me every week with his range of song choices and styles. He sings them all so well. This was just awesome. He puts so much heart and soul into it every time he sings.

Kat Robichaud - Team CeeLo
Pat Benetar is perfect for her. She can really rock out on this one. It could have been better...some of her lower notes were really shaky. I think if they would have taken it up a note, it would have been even better. I like this Kat better than what we've seen the past couple of weeks--a combination of rock and a more reserved side. It was big and epic, just like what CeeLo was going for.

Matthew Schuler - Team Christina
I probably wouldn't have picked this song for him, but it turned out to be a lot better than I thought it was going to be. It was really good! He is proving week after week, that he is a force to be reckoned with. Wow!

Dancing With The Stars, Ep. 17.10

It's the Semi Finals already! And look who's back in the ballroom...it's Maks! He's a guest judge tonight. Because there are 4 judges this week, there will be 40 judges points possible on each dance.

Tonight the couples dance twice. Their second dance will be to a stripped down, acoustical version of the song they danced in the first dance. Very interesting challenge.

Leah & Tony - 65

Paso Doble
This Lady Gaga song suits the Paso very well. I am really impressed with Leah. She has come such a long way since the beginning and she is definitely a contender! I would never have thought that at the beginning. She is nailing the feel of the dance and technically, she's nailing it as well.
Score: 32

Argentine Tango
This is starting out pretty slowly, it better pick up the pace a little. Not much choreography going on in this dance. She's doing a lot of standing around and long pauses. She is capable of doing a lot more, I'm not sure why Tony didn't give her more to do in this dance. It was really boring. This was a completely opposite performance than her first dance.
Score: 33

Corbin & Karina - 75

Tango
Love this song! This is starting out really hot, and I got goosebumps! The lights on the floor are insane, I don't know how they do that. I just don't think Corbin can go wrong. The judges haven't always loved him or agreed with Karina's choreography choices, but like the floor and the stage, he was on fire on this dance! That was intense and awesome.
Score: 35

Rumba
Wow, what a different version of this song! Corbin's lines are so amazing. He looks good doing every single style. This was romantic and sexy...he did an incredible job!
Score: 40

Jack & Cheryl - 71

Jazz
Jack is really turning into quite the performer, isn't he? That lift was incredible! Great job, Jack! That one had his mom in tears.
Score: 33

Argentine Tango
That fall backwards that Cheryl did and Jack catching her by her neck was insane! I love the choreography, and the lifts were really cool! He nailed it again! He was sharp and precise and he performed it so well!
Score: 38

Bill & Emma - 60

ChaCha
They definitely know how to play to his comedic strengths. At some point, he shouldn't have to rely on that. Again, his timing was off so many times. He tries so hard, and is fun to watch, but he is just not up to snuff technically with anyone else in the competition.
Score: 28

Argentine Tango
Seeing his video package, you just can't help but root for the guy. It's obvious why he's still around. This was another extremely slow Argentine Tango. It definitely suited him well. He actually got the leg flicks and he showed a more serious side that we don't get to see very often, so that was refreshing. He is also improving on his lifts. They don't look so labored any more, they flowed very effortlessly.
Score: 32

Amber & Derek - 79

Jazz
I cannot wait to see this routine, it looks like it's going to be amazing! Derek's choreography is always so sick! Not much to say other than it was completely awesome! It was so intricate and they were so in sync.
Score: 39

Viennese Waltz
I do not care for this version of the song...at all. As Waltzes go, they are generally just boring to me. It was danced well, but even for a Derek routine, it wasn't phenomenal, it was just OK. Beautiful, but just OK.
Score: 40

Elimination Results
In Jeopardy: Leah & Tony and Bill & Emma
Going Home: Leah & Tony

Bill should be really proud of himself. I don't think anyone like him has ever made it to the final based almost solely on comedy/performance and fan votes. He's been consistently on the bottom every single week. His low scores have been a lot to overcome, but somehow he's done it. While I think Christina, Nicole and Brant who have all gone before him, should still be there, I am looking forward to see what kinds of crazy performances that Emma will put together for him. They will no doubt be entertaining, and as we all know, the finale freestyle dances pretty much determine the winner of the season. And those who do crazy, fun routines generally win the fan vote. That said, Bill Engvall could very well win this whole thing. Wow.

Amazing Race, Ep. 23.8

Leg 8: Abu Dhabi

Leo & Jamal lead off the 8th leg.

The coins they picked up in Norway have symbols on them. They have to put them in the right order in order to get a code to put into their SUVs , by matching up the images on the coins to the sequence on the bag. Leo & Jamal had no problem figuring this out. Amy had figured this out a long time ago, and they didn't even need to get the coins out, because she had the code memorized. Wow!

Ally & Ashley didn't get what they were supposed to do, and leave after Nicky & Kim, but not by much.

The teams have to drive dune buggies on a course through the desert to find their next clue. Leo & Jamal stay ahead of Nicole & Travis, and Nicole & Travis get stuck in the sand for a bit. Ally & Ashley go almost head to head, but Ally & Ashley pull ahead after Nicky & Kim get REALLY stuck in the sand and have to dig themselves out by hand! Help was sent to them, and it turns out they burnt their clutch, so they had to get a new vehicle.

Detour: Wedding Guests or Beauty Contest
In Wedding Guests, they have to assemble and prepare ingredients and once approved, serve it to wedding guests. In Beauty Contest they have to select a camel that looks similar to a picture and then dress it; if it's a winner, they pass.

Nicole & Travis use their Express Pass to skip the Detour. This put them ahead of Leo & Jamal, so they decide to U-Turn them. They don't like the way they have been playing the game, and because they lied to them. Remember, this is not the first time Leo & Jamal have been U-Turned on this race. That's a bummer.

Tim & Marie think they have a winner, but something wasn't right, so Tim was kicked in the shin all for nothing with that first camel. Jason & Amy also fail on their first attempt.

While looking for the tower and their next clue, Tim & Marie run into Leo & Jamal who were doing the Wedding Guest task. Leo & Jamal freaked out and thought theirs was taking so long, so they decide to switch (little do they know, they have been U-Turned and will end up having to do both any way).

Meanwhile, Tim & Marie are still running around looking for the next clue. Finally they find it, and they choose to U-Turn Nicky & Kim because of something that happened at an airport a few legs ago.

Nicky & Kim start out doing the Beauty Contest but think it's going to be too hard, so they switch to the Wedding Guest task. They run into Leo & Jamal, who lie to them and say they have only been there for about 15 minutes.

After completing the Wedding Guest task, they see that they have been U-Turned. They are already in last place, so this doesn't look good for them...even though they seemed to sail right through the Beauty Contest task.

Road Block: Ride the Rapids
They have to ride the class 4 rapids and collect all 3 flags along the course.

Speed Bump
Nicky & Kim must complete an extra task since they came in last in the last non-elimination leg. They each have to jump into a wave pool that creates huge waves and swim across it, and then climb up a ladder.

Pitstop #8
1. Nicole & Travis
2. Jason & Amy
3. Tim & Marie
4. Leo & Jamal
5. Ally & Ashley
6. Nicky & Kim

X Factor, Ep. 3.15

The Results Show
2 will be going home, leaving us with the Top 10.

Elimination #1: Sweet Suspense
Wow! That is a real shocker! I really thought they would have some fans. They never had a really bad performance. They weren't really standouts, but they definitely weren't the worst. I think they had a lot of potential.

In Danger and Singing For Their Lives: Khaya Cohen and Rachel Potter
I'm very surprised to see Khaya in the bottom. Her voice has been a standout from the beginning, so I'm surprised she didn't get the fan support. I'm a little surprised Rachel is as well, based only on her amazing performance last night. Based on her performances as a whole and her bland personality, it doesn't surprise me at all. She just isn't connecting with the audience and I think it's because she kind of comes across as fake and cheesy.

Khaya and Rachel will each sing for their lives, and one will be saved.

Khaya gave another really outstanding performance. She sounds more and more like Amy Winehouse every time she sings. I think they would be fools not to keep her.

Rachel went back to her country ballad roots. She had some really bum notes that missed the mark. As usual for her, parts of the song are amazing, while other parts make you cringe a little bit. The screeching at the end was especially bad. Again, they would be fools if they keep her.

Elimination #2: Rachel Potter
Kelly sends home Khaya
Paulina sends home Rachel
Demi sends home Rachel
Simon sends home Rachel

X Factor, Ep. 3.14

Because of the technical difficulties of last week, when no one was eliminated, this week before anyone sings, one will be eliminated.

Going Home: Carlos Guevara (Boys-Paulina)

The theme for this week is 80s.

Lillie McCloud (Over 25s-Kelly)
Whoa, that hair again! I know it's the 80s, but...yuck! This is how old she is...she had a song out in 1986. I knew she was old, but I didn't think she was that old. This song is horrible, and her pitch is terrible. She pulled out her earpiece, so I'm guessing she can't hear herself. It is nice to see her doing something different and moving around, but wow, this was so bad! I didn't enjoy any part of that. I didn't get it.

Carlito Olivero (Boys-Paulina)
I'm not sure what it is about him singing songs originally sung by females. First it was Selena, and now Gloria Estefan. This wasn't my favorite performance of his. I actually liked last week's even though Simon said he was taking a step back. I think he was good vocally, but I didn't get much from his performance like I normally do. I think the girls and other dancers were more of a distraction than anything.

Rion Paige (Girls-Demi)
She was way too low and quiet at the beginning. She actually sounded kind of unsure of herself. However, when she got to the chorus, she exploded. After that, it was a really good performance.

Sweet Suspense (Groups-Simon)
I enjoyed this performance. I think their harmonies were really good. They are solid as soloists and just as good together as a group.

Tim Olstad (Boys-Paulina)
This song has been done so many times, and I don't think it's that great to begin with. It really should go on a "banned" list so no one else can perform it on a reality singing competition again. I could have done without the lone dancer. That didn't add anything to the performance. His voice is good enough that he doesn't need anything else going on. The only problem with Tim is that he sounds exactly the same every week, just a different song. His voice is incredible, but he is so predictable. You know he's going to sing a power ballad every single time. It's good that he knows what he's good at and that he's consistent, but I would like to see him take a risk. The other judges said everything that I just said. I think with Tim and Carlito before him, they are proving that Paulina doesn't really know what she's doing as a coach.

Khaya Cohen (Girls-Demi)
When she first started, I didn't care for the version of the song. It sounded way too "Motown" instead of 80s, which is actually the theme. It got a little better as the song went on, but I think the version was just a little weird. As good as her voice has been in the past, she was really over-forcing it on this song, and it sounded very strained. She always sounds like she is on the verge of a major voice crack.

Restless Road (Groups-Simon)
A Footloose song should be really good for them. Unfortunately, the lead singer went flat again. Again, the cutest of the 3 sounded the best. I really wish they wouldn't give solo parts to the guy with the really deep voice. Just because he can sing that low doesn't mean it sounds good. Their harmonies struggled a little at the beginning, but it was really strong at the end of the song.

Rachel Potter (Over 25s-Kelly)
Only a few words into the song, and I could tell this was going to be her best performance, by far. I love her look this week! Someone listened to my critiques and gave her a little bit of a makeover. The wind blowing her bangs back proves she looks better without them. This week, she lived up to what Kelly has apparently been seeing in her since the beginning. I was starting to wonder why she was still in the competition and why she didn't go home in the 4-chair challenge. This was so much better than anything she has done in the competition. The big note was a little strained and screamed, but it was close to being perfect.

Ellona Santiago (Girls-Demi)
I was not crazy about the arrangement of this song. Again, there was too much dancing and other stuff going on. When she moves around, her voice wavers and it just doesn't sound that good. Demi needs to stop trying to hide her imperfections by adding a ton of stuff on stage and making her move around. It's not doing her any favors. She's much better when she's just singing.

Josh Levi (Boys-Paulina)
I didn't know if I was going to like him singing "Straight Up" by Paula Abdul, but it actually worked for him. His voice sounded amazing tonight. I even enjoyed his dance moves. The other acts that are trying to dance and sing need to watch him and take some notes. There wasn't a ton of dancing, and it didn't take away from his singing. I think this was his best performance.

And...they saved the best, and my 2 favorite acts for last :)

Jeff Gutt (Over 25s-Kelly)
I seriously love his song choice this week! "I Just Died In Your Arms Tonight"...one of my favorite 80s songs, and right up his alley. Not gonna lie, I was kind of hoping for an INXS song because THAT would have been incredible. Regardless, he was still the best of the night so far. Above and beyond what everyone else can/will ever do. He commands that stage like a rockstar. Love him! I do agree with Simon that it's not the most original, what he does. It would be nice to hear him take a song and transform it into something different (think Adam Lambert on American Idol).

Alex & Sierra (Groups-Simon)
I love their new and interesting takes on well-known songs. I love the concept of the wall between them, and it was so satisfying when she walked through the door to him. They are at their best when they are interacting with each other. I love how they each started off a capella, it really set the mood for the song. My favorite part was when the tempo picked up and Sierra pounded on the wall to the beat. Sierra had an amazing moment in the song where she really belted it out. We don't get to see that very much from her, so that was a nice surprise. Simon wasn't impressed with their performance tonight, but I didn't hear what he was talking about, with Sierra losing the melody.

Survivor, Ep. 27.9

Kasama
The fireworks are about to erupt. Vytas congratulated them on a big move that he and Aras didn't see coming. Tina and Katie were as blindsided by Aras getting voted as he and Vytas were...and Tina was not too happy about it. She calls out Monica and Tyson and said that there are 5 jury votes they will never have. Tyson counters and says that Vytas, Katie and her pushed the others out, which was Aras's plan. Tina said she didn't know if that was his plan. She looked at Ciera, Laura and Hayden and said "you all were never in the alliance". They each then said "I had an alliance with Aras", which completely shocked Tina. The next day, Tina apologized to Katie and she told her that if she needs to work without her to further her game, then she should.

Immunity Challenge #1
It's a gross one folks! If you have a queasy stomach, just fast forward through this one.

Round 1: 40 Meal Worms
Tyson and Monica finish. Vytas coughs some up and he picks them up off the ground and eats them, and he is the third to move on. Laura and Katie are out.

Round 2: 40 Meal Worms
Hayden finishes first, Gervase and then Caleb get theirs down to become the 3 to move on. Gervase, just as he did in Season 1, was jumping up and down and smacking himself on the head like a crazy person. Ciera spit hers out right away and quit. Jeff said it looked like they were biting Tina, so she also didn't stand a chance.

Round 3: 3 oz Pig Intestines
Tyson spit out a ton of it! Gervase was going through it like a beast, and Vytas looked very calm. Monica was killing it as the only woman left. Monica finished first. Gervase finished next, and surprisingly it was Monica and Gervase moving on!

Round 4: 2 Grubs
This haunted Gervase in Season 1...he couldn't do it then, but he was bound and determined to do it this time. Monica was making some pretty disgusting noises, as she was very impressive. And it's Monica for the win! Wow!

Pre-Tribal
Laura says the strategy is to split the votes: 4 for Vytas and 3 for Katie. Tyson has the idol but he doesn't want to tell anyone. Vytas asks Hayden if he's in trouble. Hayden said it was between him and Katie. Monica was getting worried because there was a lot of scrambling going on. She thinks the guys want to keep Vytas and that the girls will vote Katie. Laura thinks Monica should stop worrying because she has immunity. Tyson is worried about the girls making an alliance, so maybe Katie should go.

Tribal Council #1
Tina talks about her blow-up, and then Vytas says he was glad she did what she did because he was thinking and feeling the same thing. Then he said he would have liked to have said he's his brother's keeper and don't mess with him. Then Vytas continues talking, when he needs to really be watching himself. He says that Monica is a doormat and she'll go along with anyone. He said she was "Monica the Benevolent". Yikes, Vytas, what are you doing? THEN he said, what if the girls make an alliance, it would be a good idea because Tyson and Gervase have the most power. Oh man, I think he just sealed his own fate. Say "hi" to Aras at Redemption.

The Vote:
Vytas
Katie
Tyson
Vytas
Vytas
Vytas
Vytas

Bye-bye Vytas. You were fun to watch, but sorry, I'm rooting for the other, much cuter, previous Survivor winning Baskauskas brother.

After Tribal
Monica said she was told to vote for Katie, but because of what Vytas said, she changed her vote. Gervase said if someone else would have gotten voted out because of it, he would have been ticked. He is starting to see that she could be a problem and might need to go next.

Redemption Island
Vytas blames Aras for him being voted out because he was guilty by association. He thought Aras knew how to play the game. Aras thinks Vytas is so negative and that's not going to help him, but he told him he would be just as happy if he won Redemption and made it back in the game. Vytas apologized, but said he couldn't say the same for him. That didn't make me like Vytas too much. I mean, sure Aras has won before, but he's your brother, you should be happy for him no matter what. Sure it will suck if he beats you...again...but suck it up!

The Voice, Ep. 5.17

Tonight 2 will go home. For the first time on The Voice, viewers will have a last minute say in who goes home. They will announce the bottom 3, and in a 5-minute window, viewers can tweet the name of the person they want to save. Those votes will help save one of the bottom 3, sending the other 2 singers home.

Bottom 3: Josh Logan (Team Christina), Kat Robichaud (Team CeeLo), Jonny Gray (Team CeeLo)

I'm a little surprised by this result. I had a feeling that Josh would be in the bottom, I thought maybe Kat would be, but I didn't see Jonny being there.

Going Home: Jonny and Josh

Wow, I'm shocked. I cannot believe that Jonny didn't get enough tweets. I wasn't crazy about his performance last night...he's much better than what he did, but geez.

So, Kat is saved by the tweets and she will be a part of the Top 10.

Adam's and Blake's teams remain intact with 3 singers each. Meanwhile, Christina and CeeLo are down to 2 singers each.

The Voice, Ep. 5.16

The Top 12 Perform...

Caroline Pennell - Team CeeLo
I love the song "Wake Me Up" by Avicii...it's one of my favorite songs right now. I'm interested to see her take on the song. I'm not sure I will like her voice with it, but we'll see. I think I might have liked it more if she would have done a more stripped down version of the song and not upbeat like the original. She struggled a little on the lower notes, and she didn't seem very comfortable with the song. She is normally very spot-on, but she seemed either too fast or too slow for the music at times.

Josh Logan - Team Christina
I think Michael Jackson's "Man in the Mirror" was an interesting choice. I'm disappointed that he isn't performing with his guitar like he did in the rehearsals. The song started out way too low for him. He seemed a little lost without the guitar. But once he got to the chorus, he found his groove and it was so good! It's too bad he couldn't have started the song out stronger. He ended the song on a very strong note, which was nice to see. I've liked him since the beginning, but I don't know if it will be enough to get him through this week.

James Wolpert - Team Adam
Adam's right "Mr. Brightside" by The Killers is right up his alley. I have to say he looks so funny singing songs like this, especially dressed like that. It just doesn't match up. But beyond that, his vocals were really good. Unfortunately, the song has a lot of notes that are the same and repeated over and over, so it didn't let his true vocal capabilities shine. However, it was still a really strong and fun performance.

Austin Jenckes - Team Blake
I've always kind of been on the fence with Austin. He has a great voice, but a lot depends on song choice. Picking a country song, pushed him to the "dislike" category for me. Maybe a different country song would have been a different story, but I didn't care for this at all. It also sounded like he was doing a fake country accent (and a poor one at that).

Jacquie Lee - Team Christina
I love Christina's notes to Jacquie on this song. I think it was exactly what she needed to do with the song. Week after week, she is showing just how versatile of a singer she is. I really think she could win the whole thing, she is just that talented. I really enjoyed her performance, and I think her vocals were stellar. She absolutely brought the house down! I can't believe so much power and angst can come out of that tiny, cute little girl! Amazing!

Ray Boudreaux - Team Blake
No Blake...not a John Legend song...not liking that choice at all. I would love to hear him do something from a singer/songrwriter, like Tyler Hilton. That would be amazing. Surprisingly, he sounded way better on this song than I thought he was going to. I just love listening to his voice. He had some really nice moments. He showed a higher range than I remembering hearing from him in the past. It was a nice, tender performance.

Kat Robichaud - Team CeeLo
I think Kat is going to kill "Sail". I definitely agree that she excels on the rock songs, so I think she should stick with that. Last week's song was just not her. I love her look this week and I think the production was really great. Whoa, she just crowd surfed! That's a first! And she continued singing...that had to be incredibly hard. Huge props to her for that risk.

Jonny Gray - Team CeeLo
I think "Another Day in Paradise" by Phil Collins is going to be a great pick for him. I love when he performs with his guitar. I wasn't crazy about the arrangement of the song. I think maybe they should have stuck closer to the tempo of the original. It was still really good though.

Tessanne Chin - Team Adam
Oh my gosh, I'm so excited to hear her sing "My Kind of Love" by Emeli Sande. It is seriously one of my favorite songs out right now. I think she is going to slay this song. And...I was right. She's so good!

Matthew Schuler - Team Christina
One of my all-time favorite songs: "Hallelujah" by Jeff Buckley. I know it's been done a million times, but I love that everyone sings it in a different way, but yet it's still amazing every time. He is no different. It was beautiful. It was haunting. It was tender, yet powerful. He couldn't have done it any better. That high note at the end was very surprising and so good!

Cole Vosbury - Team Blake
When he picks the right song, he can really sound amazing. I'm not 100% sure this was the right song. It didn't blow me away. Even though he was taking a risk with such a different song for him, it sounded really safe to me.

Will Champlin - Team Adam
Whoa, people are killing it with the song choices tonight..."Demons" by Imagine Dragons is another one of my absolute favorite songs right now! Will did not disappoint! That was amazing! He might have cracked a little by trying to force those high notes, but it doesn't matter. It was so good!

2 will go tomorrow night...

Who I want to go: Austin Jenckes and Cole Vosbury
Who I think will go: Josh Logan and Ray Boudreaux

Dancing With The Stars, Ep. 17.9

Amber & Derek 51 total points
Quickstep
Her dress made it really hard to see if her feet were doing all of the moves. It looked good, but who knows...I again, was watching Derek most of the time. It looked like a couple times, it was more of Derek just moving her to where she needs to be. Derek will make anyone look good, and appear better than they might actually be.
Score: 24

Trio w/ Mark - Salsa
Derek and Mark just have way too much fun together. I just love watching their creative minds at work to see what they come up with. Look at Amber go! This is the Amber we saw in the first couple of weeks! Tons of energy, lots of very fast moves and tough choreography. Oh, and Derek and Mark are hot :) Great routine! Loved it!
Score: 27

Leah & Tony 54 total points
Tango
She nailed the angry passion of the tango. Tony definitely didn't go easy on the choreography, but was it just me or did it seem like that routine was like only 20 seconds long? It was over before it even started. What there was of it, was really good.
Score: 27

Trio w/ Henry - Jive
I love the concept of them as the judges! Brilliant! They each do them all SO WELL! Hilarious! I don't know who plays their part better, they are all spot on impressions! And Tony even looks like Bruno! Beyond the concept, the dancing was spectacular as well. Leah needed to have more pronounced kicks and flicks though. They looked a little lazy. But it was a very fun routine! Side note: I really want to see Henry as a pro next season, it's overdue!
Score: 27

Corbin & Karina 58 total points
Waltz
I know this is supposed to be a slow waltz, but boy did they slow down the "Apologize" track. I didn't care for that at all. I think the judges should like this, it's what they were going for in a more traditional waltz. He did a great job. It was boring, but he did a good job and he made it look very beautiful.
Score: 28 (10 from Bruno!)

Trio w/ Witney - Jazz
This dance is really going to suit Corbin. It's a very interesting upbeat version of Usher's "Yeah!" I loved the choreography for this and the magic theme. I think they could have done even more with it, but it was still really good.
Score: 30

Jack & Cheryl 54 total points
Viennese Waltz
I love the set design for this dance, and Cheryl looks beautiful! He looked amazing, and so light and airy, the way the dance should be done. Good job Jack, and happy birthday!
Score: 29

Trio w/ Sharna - Samba
I think this is going to be very fun! He might have been uncomfortable in rehearsals, but he sure had fun with the performance! I think it was technically good, it was comical, and just lots of fun to watch!
Score: 25

So much comedy in this routine! Nothing suits him better--he is a comedian after all. This was just so much fun to watch. It had some tough choreography, not a ton though. He did a lot better on his lifts this week. He didn't seem to struggle quite as much.
Score: 21

Trio w/ Peta - Salsa
They picked a great theme, with Bill as Willy Wonka. Does anyone else think the show is a little rigged that he just happens to get a lot of fun, upbeat dances that he can show off his fun, goofy side? What can you say about this, it was hilarious and fun...just like every one of his dances. I thought Emma and Peta were so cute, and THEIR choreography was really good...Bill, well, Bill didn't have quite as much to do.
Score: 21

Viennese Waltz
Beautiful dance. It was probably the quickest Viennese Waltz I've ever seen. He was whipping her around that stage.
Score: 26

Trio w/ Gleb - Salsa
Welcome back Gleb! I've missed him! Oh to be Elizabeth in that Val/Gleb sandwich! Gleb and Val look like they could be twins! They are moving so fast and completely in sync. Elizabeth did a better job with her hips than I thought she would. She loosened up quite a bit on this dance. Oh and there go the shirts! Woohoo!
Score: 30

Results
In Jeopardy: Elizabeth & Val and Bill & Emma
Going Home: Elizabeth & Val

And yet ANOTHER couple who shouldn't be going home yet. Sorry, but, as fun as Bill is, getting a 21 in the quarterfinals just isn't acceptable. Christina, Nicole and Brant are far superior dancers, and are much more deserving of making the semifinals than Bill or Leah for that matter.

Amazing Race, Ep. 23.7

Leg 7: Austria -> Abu Dhabi

Nicole & Travis lead off the leg.

Leo & Jamal make quick work of finding a flight and they get the earliest flight, and the last seats on that flight. There is another flight that would arrive 10 minutes after them, so they won't have much of a lead. The rest of the teams make it on that second flight. Somehow at the first clue, Nicole & Travis arrive in last place.

Detour: Sort it Out or Sew it Up
In Sort it Out, they have to sort dates and put them in a specific arrangement. In Sew it Up, they have to assemble a traditional fishing net.

Leo & Jamal, Nicky & Kim, Tim & Marie and Ally & Ashley do Sort it Out. Jason & Amy and Nicole & Travis do Sew it Up.

Big surprise, Marie is screaming at Tim the entire time. Tim was being stubborn thinking he had it right and wouldn't go check, just because he wanted to prove to her that he was right. Leo & Jamal couldn't find a certain type of date and they thought they couldn't go to any other tables. Nicky & Kim were the first team to find the other tables and they kept it a secret from the other teams. The Afgahnimals asked them where they found the other dates and told them if they helped them, they would them if they needed it. Nicky & Kim just said they were busy and basically they weren't going to give up what they knew. Finally, Leo & Jamal found the other dates, and they completed the task first. Tim & Marie finish, and then Ally & Ashley, leaving Nicky & Kim still trying to get the correct dates and repeatedly failing.

Meanwhile at the other task, Nicole did some of her part of the net wrong, so Travis had to redo it. They were in the heat, and things were starting to boil over a little bit. They thought they might need to use their Express Pass. Jason & Amy finished first, and were also ahead of the teams that did the Sort it Out task.

Road Block: Drop & Drive
They have to drop down on a zip line and then get into a race car. They have to go around the track and watch for a sign with the record holders name and time. And there wasn't just one sign, there were like a half dozen, and they needed to remember the times to figure out who had the quickest time.

Leo was the first to get it correct. Travis actually got it on the first try...that was impressive!

It comes down to Ally & Ashley and Nicky & Kim. Ally & Ashley get it first, but it looks like it could be close.

Pitstop #7
1. Leo & Jamal (they were beyond happy, as they were hoping to come in first for the first time in their "mother land")
2. Jason & Amy (so happy they finished before Tim & Marie)
3. Nicole & Travis
4. Tim & Marie
5. Ally & Ashley
6. Nicky & Kim--NOT ELIMINATED=Non-Elimination (Wow, I was totally feeling that a non-elimination leg was coming up soon

Nicky & Kim will most likely start the next leg with some sort of disadvantage. Phil usually says what that disadvantage will be, but he didn't this time. So, we'll just have to wait until next week to find out.

Big Brother Australia 10, Week 15 Recap -- FINAL WEEK!

It's so sad...it's all coming to an end!  First a double eviction, and 2 days later, the winner will be crowned.

My Thoughts on the Final 5
Our final 5 housemates are: Boog, Drew, Jade, Tahan and Tim

Drew and Tim have been my favorites since the beginning, so I'm so glad they are the final 2 guys left. Tim is a stirrer, and he might take things a little too far sometimes, but he's honest. He doesn't have mean intentions and he really strives to get to know people and connect with them in different ways. Not to mention that he's HILARIOUS! This season would have been so much more boring, if it wasn't for him. Drew? Well, Drew's hot! But beyond that, he's sweet and sensitive and he made a great playmate for Tim. He unfortunately went through a terrible stage of clinging to Tully (or, rather, letting Tully cling to him), but thank goodness Australia finally put a stop to it and she was voted out. I grew to really like Tahan over the course of the game, even thought she was kind of mean to the Sugar Sisters. I really like Boog, but as an Intruder, I just don't think it's fair for her to win. And then there's Jade. I loved her at the beginning, and I loved her fake romance/real flirting showmance with Drew. However, that was very short-lived and she soon attached herself to Ed and she became very unlikable at times. Now that Ed is gone, although she's a little depressing, she's getting back to the person she was at the beginning. For whatever reason, her fans have stuck with her through her ups and downs. It really is anyone's game. I honestly have no idea who is going to go in the double eviction, or who is going to win.

X Factor, Ep. 3.13

Due to a graphics glitch, wrong numbers were shown the night before, so instead of eliminating someone, they are all singing again. This is a shame, because we really need to start eliminating some of these boring acts to get down to the really good ones.

Josh Levi (Boys-Paulina)
This song is a perfect choice for him. If he could sound and perform like this every week, he could be someone to watch out for.

Rachel Potter (Over 25s-Kelly)
Side note: whoever is doing graphics for this show seriously needs to be fired, because the photos and name they showed was Rion Paige and not Rachel Potter. Same initials, but different people...come on!

She has a decent voice, but I just really find her boring and her hair style really bothers me. It looks like she's wearing a wig, and those bangs are really old fashioned. Someone give this girl a makeover now!

Carlos Guevara (Boys-Paulina)
I have no idea what song he was singing, which is unusual, because I usually know every song. Parts of this song sounded amazing, but other parts were just weird, and didn't sound right.

Restless Road (Groups-Simon)
I think I'm coming to a determination that: 1) The guy with the big ears and the tall guy with the really deep voice should NOT sing solo parts--leave it to the cute guy; and 2) They sound much better when they sing together.

Perfect song choice. This wasn't as good as their song the night before, only because their harmonies weren't as tight. There were a couple places where it just didn't sound quite right.

Ellona Santiago (Girls-Demi)
Very good song choice. This suits her so much more than the over-theatrical song the night before. She has a great voice that shouldn't be disguised by an overpowering backing track and a lot of props. Her voice shined on this song.

Jeff Gutt (Over 25s-Kelly)
Love this song choice for him. It's a very similar performance to the night before, but it is his niche and he does it so amazingly well. I could listen to him sing forever! I love watching him in the dark with just a few spotlights....it matches the dynamics and feel of the song. When he got to the chorus, it was just stunning. He is singing like a winner, and deservingly so...they should just give him the prize right now. He's in a totally different league than the rest of the competition.

Alex & Sierra (Groups-Simon)

X Factor, Ep. 3.12

This week's theme is: Motown. Taking a page out of American Idol's book, they are picking themes that are not only ancient and out of touch, but so overdone on reality singing competitions. I sure hope this doesn't continue for the remainder of the season. It's going to get old very fast.

Simon announces at the beginning of the show that Josh Levi is coming back as a wildcard because all of the judges felt that he deserved a second chance. Out of all the singers who deserves to come back, it would be James Kenney.

Josh Levi (Boys-Paulina)
He gave a really strong vocal performance. He's not my favorite, but he did a good job.

Rachel Potter (Over 25s-Kelly)
She put an interesting country spin on the song. We haven't ever heard her sing with that country accent before. She didn't even sound like the same person. It was nice to see her change the song, but I didn't love it, and I don't really think it works as an upbeat country song. At least she didn't sound as awful as she did during the 4-chair challenge, when I thought she deserved to go home.

Carlos Guevara (Boys-Paulina)
His voice suited this style very well. I think he sounded much better than he did in the last round. It was a decent performance, but I was really bored during the whole thing.

Restless Road (Groups-Simon)
This should be an interesting challenge for them, to see if they can get it to sound right as a country song. I think Simon will pick the right song to let them do just that.

Right from the beginning of the song, it sounded amazing! Their harmonies are so good for only having been together for a few weeks. The only problem for them is the guy with the weird ears (not sure which one he is)...his solos aren't the best, and he is often pitchy (or "peachy" as Paulina says). So pitchy that it's kind of painful to listen to. I think he would be better to stay in the background, and let the incredibly cute one be the lead singer. I think the girls will be voting them all the way to the end of the competition.

Ellona Santiago (Girls-Demi)
This is a song I really hate, and I don't think she did anything to the song that would make me like it. Her vocals didn't seem to match the production and backing track...it just sounded weird together. I don't think it worked. Technically, she sounded good, but I just didn't care for it all. The best part of the song was the big note at the end without the music.

Jeff Gutt (Over 25s-Kelly)
I hope that he doesn't sound cheesy. I think being a rock guy, this could either be really good and unique, or really awful.

OK, 2 words in...it's going to be amazing! I love when he can be tender and powerful at the same time, like the opening of the song. Absolutely the best song choice for him! It's the best song so far and the best performance so far. I have a feeling it's going to be the best of the night. That was simply amazing! He doesn't need a lot of production and overdone theatrics. He can sing, and his voice speaks for itself.

The Voice, Ep. 5.15

Tonight's episode is the results from Monday and Tuesday's performances. The top 20 will become the top 12, as 2 from each team will be eliminated. The top 2 vote-getters from each team will automatically make it to the top 12, and then the coaches will get to save 1.

Team Adam
Group Performance: "Safe and Sound" by Capital Cities--this was the perfect song for all of them! It's one of my favorite songs right now and I think they all sounded great individually, and as a group.
Top 2 Vote-Getters: James Wolpert and Tessanne Chin
Saved by Adam: Will Champlin
Eliminated: Preston Pohl and Grey
My Thoughts: I knew Tessanne was a given, and I'm not surprised that James was also in the top 2. I so happy that Adam saved Will! I liked Grey at the beginning, but her song choice this week hurt her and she didn't do her best. I'm really happy with this top 3!

Team Blake
Group Performance: "Free Ride" by Edgar Winter Group--I think they did pretty good as a group. They blended really well, and they each sounded equally good as individuals. Even Nic, who is so different from the rest. He made it his own, in a weird quirky way that worked.
Top 2 Vote-Getters: Austin Jenkes and Cole Vosbury
Saved by Blake: Ray Boudreaux
Eliminated: Shelbie Z. and Nic Hawke
My Thoughts: I gotta say I'm so surprised he didn't pick his country girl Shelbie Z., but I'm so incredibly happy he saved Ray! Ray should have been in the top 2!

Team CeeLo
Group Performance: "Give a Little Bit" by The Goo Goo Dolls. I love this song, and I think it was a good choice for this group. I was surprised how well Caroline did with it, because it isn't really her style. Jonny was perfect playing the guitar. This was right up his alley. Amber and Tamara were the obvious ones that it didn't suit as well. As a goup, I thought they sounded really good.
Top 2 Vote-Getters: Caroline Pennell and Jonny Gray
Saved by CeeLo: Kat Robichaud
Eliminated: Amber Nicole and Tamara Chauniece
My Thoughts: America got it right! Caroline and Jonny were my top 2 as well. CeeLo also made the right choice! I couldn't be happier with his top 3!

Team Christina
Group Performance: "Love Somebody" by Maroon 5--I think it's kind of funny that Christina always chooses Adam's songs for her contestants. Personally, I love the song, but it wasn't right for any one of these singers. I think they sounded really bad. Josh had a really bad spot and the others, who are normally really good, just didn't sound good at all. Individually, they weren't able to make it work to suit their style and they just sounded awkward. When they sang together, it really clashed and they didn't sound good at all!
Top 2 Vote-Getters: Jacquie Lee and Matthew Schuler
Saved by Christina: Josh Logan
Eliminated: Stephanie Ann Johnson and Olivia Henken
My Thoughts: Woohoo! Absolute best 3 made it! It was a toss-up for me between Matthew and Josh. I'm glad Christina did the right thing and saved Josh. She continues to surprise me this season by picking all the right singers...it's so unlike her!

Final Thoughts: I don't think I have ever done so well at picking who was going to make it through and who was going to be eliminated. I was an astonishing 7 for 8 on the eliminations! The only one I got wrong was Austin Jenkes. I really thought either America or Blake would have picked Shelbie Z. because she is really the only true country singer and her voice is really amazing. I was really shocked when Blake actually chose Ray over her...happy, but shocked.

Survivor, Ep. 27.8

Galang
Vytas is so appreciative that they saved him and he said he is comfortable with them being the final 5, and Aras will be with them. Tina basically tells Monica that she is #5 in the group.

Redemption Island
Laura B. tells John and Laura M. how the girls didn't go with their plan and voted her out instead of Vytas. All 3 agreed that it was stupid to keep Vytas in the game..."because tomorrow could be the merge". Famous last words.

Redemption Island Dual
The winner re-enters the game, the losers go home. This is it. I really, really, really hope John wins. He has been there the longest, and he really got dealt a bad hand, so he deserves to go back in. If he doesn't win, it better be Laura M. because I don't know if I can stand it if I have to see and hear her any more. She's so annoying! She hasn't done anything deserving of going back into the game. At least Laura M. has been a beast in the challenges and was playing the game.

The challenge is to hang onto the pole as long as you can...endurance. We know from many Survivor seasons past that this challenge is much easier for the women.

Laura B. struggled from the get-go. John didn't look very comfortable. After 20 minutes, John started sliding down.  He actually kicked his shoes off and pulled himself back up. Wow! But now his socks are sliding and he can't hold on. Oh no...he's going down, going down...and he's off. Laura B. slid all the way to the bottom and was holding on for dear life. Laura M. barely moved the entire time. Laura B. had her legs wrapped around the pole, and wasn't using the foot holds. It didn't work, and she was out.

So, John and Laura B. are out, and Laura M. is back in the game. And with that, the old buffs are dropped and everyone is now on the same tribe.

Laura M. gets to give the immunity idol clue and she took it right to the fire. No surprise there.

Merged Tribe: Kasama

The Voice, Ep. 5.14

Adam and Blake's teams performed last night, and tonight CeeLo and Christina's teams will perform. The results show will be on a special night, this Thursday, where the Top 20 will become the Top 12. 2 people from each team will be cut.

Amber Nicole - Team CeeLo
She's singing a country song? Wow, wouldn't have expected that. And she's singing Cassadee Pope's song! I'm really surprised that it's actually working for her. It helps that I don't really consider Cassadee to be country. There were some weird notes at the end, but overall, it was pretty good.

Jonny Gray - Team CeeLo
I think this was a great song choice for him. I kind of wish he would have done a little something more with it and maybe changed it up so it wasn't so much like the original at the beginning. The end was a little more unique which was a nice change. Regardless, he gave a great performance. I really love his voice, and he's one of my favorites in the competition. Wow, Adam and I were totally on the same wavelength, as he basically said the same thing about it.

Tamara Chauniece - Team CeeLo
CeeLo is brave for giving her such a big and iconic song in "I Will Survive". She was definitely up to the task. I think she did a good job, but I find her vibratos a little too frequent and over the top. Her voice is good enough without that.

Kat Robichaud - Team CeeLo
Once again this season, CeeLo is making some really strange song choices for his singers. Somehow, this one really worked! I wasn't so sure when I heard what she was going to be singing. I like her version better than the original. Not only did she sound amazing, but she looked amazing tonight! She might be emerging as a favorite! But, that was weird as she just hugged someone she didn't know.

Caroline Pennell - Team CeeLo
The White Stripes' "We Are Gonna Be Friends"...I think this is going to be good! I really love her voice. Sometimes people with voices like that eventually get annoying and have annoying personalities, but she is so cute and sweet! I just love her! I love how she is growing so much more confident than she was in her first audition.

Josh Logan - Team Christina

The Voice, Ep. 5.13

First live show. Team Adam and Team Blake are performing tonight. Carson explained the voting process, and I'm not sure this is always the way it was, or if I just never heard it explained before. I know in seasons past, iTunes sales were added to the votes. This season, if a singer ends up in the top 10 on the iTunes chart by the end of voting, their sales are multiplied by 5 and added to their votes. I don't ever remember hearing about the "multiplied by five part" before. I could have just missed it, but I don't think that was always the case.

Shelbie Z - Team Blake
I like that she knows who she is and she knows how to make a song more her style. That's very commendable. She can also flat-out sing her butt off! She killed that song! Her voice is truly amazing, and all country. Great performance.

James Wolpert - Team Adam
This is a nice style for him, sitting down with a guitar. He really has such a wide range of things he can do. His voice is so versatile, but mainly just strong and consistent. He had everyone, including Adam, in awe. I don't think I've ever seen Adam stare at someone with his mouth wide open like that! Very nice James!

Nic Hawke - Team Blake
He's doing "Blurred Lines"...I think this could be awesome. It's a fun song, it's a quirky song, and that is exactly what he is! Again, it's so hard to take him seriously. He's hilarious, but then he does something that makes you say "that dude CAN sing". I loved the rap section, I'm glad they put that in there. He did all the different singers' parts in the song...that's just crazy! I think the best way to describe him is a male Lady Gaga?

Ray Boudreux - Team Blake
I am so in love with his voice. He's got such a smooth tone, but yet he can turn it into rock and give it some grit as well. I just really love to listen to him. He's not so bad to look at either :) Such a good overall performance. He sang at the mike, he moved around to the crowd, it looked really natural.

Austin Jenckes - Team Blake
This is a great song for him. He sounded amazing and was so much better this week than his last performance. This is more like the types of songs he should be singing.

Grey - Team Adam

Dancing With The Stars, Ep. 17.8

I'm really not looking forward to Cher being a guest judge this week. First The Voice, now Dancing? Come on. She's a singer, so The Voice I can understand. But she is NOT a ballroom dancer and she should NOT be judging ballroom dancing! Julianne Hough coming back to guest judge made sense: she's a pro ballroom dancer! Even Paula Abdul last year, or the year before, made more sense than Cher. Plus, she's just annoying! I don't think she is going to have anything beneficial to say, and she can't critique them because she doesn't know how each dance is supposed to be done. OK, rant over. Oh wait...I miss Nicole! OK, now I'm done.

Corbin & Karina - Argentine Tango
What the heck is that thing on Karina's head?! Yikes! I'm so glad she got rid of it right from the start. This is always one of my favorite dances. He had very nice kicks and the lift over his head, by only holding one of her legs was so incredible and unique! That was a great routine.
Score: 27 (+3 Dance-off points=30)

Leah & Tony - Viennese Waltz
Leah looks stunning tonight! She is doing a good job at making the dance look really light and flowing. Very simple and beautiful. I don't think it was the hardest choreography that Tony could have thrown at her, but it was a good performance.
Score: 25 (+3 Dance-off points=28)

Brant & Peta - Foxtrot
This style really suits Brant. He looked amazing! That was one rocking foxtrot! Usually Foxtrots are slow and flowing, but this one was really fast and quick-moving, with a lot of really sharp movements. I really enjoyed it!
Score: 27

Elizabeth & Val - Jazz
That is some outfit she's got on! I think she made the right choice by changing up the song to this one, it really suits her. It's a powerful song and this was a powerful performance. She did a really good job.
Score: 25

Bill & Emma - Disco
I have a feeling there's going to be a good dose of comedy in this routine. This looks just about like his "Cheeseburger in Paradise" routine. I think he is such a good performer, but like in the "Cheeseburger" dance, he's just a little too loosy-goosy! His timing was off and he was a bit too wild. He had some nice lifts, but you could tell he was struggling to keep from dropping her. They were just borderline almost out of control. He did it, but it could have been better. Still a blast though.
Score: 24

Jack & Cheryl - Tango
He makes it look so easy. He transforms into the character of every dance. Nothing really special about this dance, but he did a great job and didn't miss a beat (pun intended...they danced to "The Beat Goes On").
Score: 27 (+3 Dance-off points=30)

Amber & Derek - Rumba
Look at all those cute sailors!!! Hello Derek's abs! Oh my goodness, I just can't take my eyes off Derek right now! I have no idea if Amber is doing a good job or not. I'm sorry...just can't peel my eyes off of his smokin' hot body! Eek! I think it was good :)
Score: 28

Dance-Off

Amazing Race, Ep. 23.6

Leg 6: Poland -> Austria

Tim & Marie lead it off, and they wait a little bit to go with Jason & Amy, because they have been working with them. All of the teams are within a couple hours of each other as they start out. Because there was a 4 hour layover, everyone caught up to each other.

Everyone was accusing Leo & Jamal of U-Turning Brandon & Adam (who were eliminated on the last leg). They lied to the group and said they never saw them, even though it was them that U-Turned them, which ultimately led to them being eliminated. Marie knew that they had to be lying.

Detour: Light Brigade or Masquerade
In Light Brigade they have to assemble a chandelier. If they are incorrect on their first try, it is dropped and shatters, which means they have to start all over. In Masquerade, they have to match up masks they are wearing to masks on people dancing.. There is also a Fast Forward available on this Detour. Jason & Amy and Nicole & Travis both decide to go for it, but after seeing Jason & Amy so far ahead of them, they decide against it.

Jason & Amy have to bungee jump 500 ft. When they get to the top, they are told it is too windy to jump, so now they have to decide if they want to wait to see if it gets better or decide to skip it. After waiting for awhile, the wind didn't let up, so they decide to give it up and go do the Detour.

Tim & Marie match their masks first and are the first to head to the next task, followed by Nicky & Kim. After several wrong attempts, Leo & Jamal finally get it, and then Ally & Ashley do too. Tim & Danny finish and then so do Nicole & Travis. Early teams had trouble getting a cab, but are on their way as Jason & Amy make it to the theatre to do the Masquerade task.

Road Block: Join The Choir
One team member has to learn German lyrics and sing with the Austrian Boys Choir. This could be really difficult! But they do get an instructor who helps them learn the words and how to sing it, so that isn't too bad.

Leo & Jamal, Ally & Ashley and Nicky & Kim are the first to arrive and begin working with their instructors one-on-one. Tim & Danny, Nicole & Travis and Tim & Marie arrive in the next group. Jamal and Travis seemed to pick things up the quickest.

Finally, Jason & Amy, now in last place, finish the Detour and make their way to the Road Block before any of the other teams had finished.

How embarrassing...they have to perform in front of the rest of the team members who weren't participating.

Travis is the first to be ready to sing with the choir, but he failed on his first attempt. Jamal was hilarious! He failed also. Ally tried, and failed, too. Wow, these people are expecting a lot out of them! Every single one of them tried and failed, over and over. On Travis's 2nd attempt, for some reason, he was like a complete octave below where he sang it the 1st time...it was really weird...he didn't even sound like the same person. But, he did well enough to pass, and they were the first ones done.

Even though Nicky really, really couldn't sing, she was done 2nd. On their way to get a cab, they saw a cab that had Jason & Amy's bags in it, so they knew they couldn't take that cab. BUT, the cab driver took out their bags and set them on the ground because he didn't want to wait for them (they didn't ask him to), but even so, they didn't feel right about stealing their cab.

Poor Tim, also really couldn't sing, and he even got told by the director that he was "terrible" Jamal plugged his ears! On attempt #2 for both Jamal and Tim (the other Tim), they passed.

On their way out, Marie said "come on, let's go steal someone's cab". Oh, I so can't stand her! They took Jason & Amy's cab because "their bags aren't in it". Oh boy, this is not going to end well, I have a feeling. Inside the cab, Marie constructs a lie to say that they saw the Afganimals (Leo & Jamal) take the cab. Ugh! That is just so despicable! The cab driver asked them if they forgot their bags and they said they weren't theirs, and then he said "oh no I took the wrong team". They said they didn't care and showed him their clue which was blue and said they were all on the blue team. Jason & Amy come out to find their bags on the ground and no taxi. Now, they have to go find another taxi. Luckily, they found one pretty quickly (at least in the way it was edited).

Ally was really struggling as well as Tim. They just couldn't seem to get it. 4 attempts, 5 attempts...oh boy. Finally, Ally got it, which meant that Danny & Tim were in last place. And then, I think out of mercy, the instructor finally passes Tim.

On the way to the Pitstop, they have to go through a maze of hedges. What an interesting final challenge to find the last clue on the way to get to Phil!

Pitstop #6:
1. Nicole & Travis
2. Nicky & Kim
3. Leo & Jamal
4. Tim & Marie
5. Jason & Amy
6. Ally & Ashley
7. Tim & Danny--ELIMINATED

On the way to to/from the maze, Jason sees Tim & Marie's bags and he realized it was them who stole their cab. Jason & Amy make it to the carpet just behind Tim & Marie, and ooh...it's AWK-WARD! Jason & Amy were really hurt and upset, and Marie just kept yelling at them and saying if they were in the situation they would have done the same thing. I just really can't stand her, and I'm so ready for her to be gone.
