The Bachelorette, Ep. 10.7

Brussels and Ghent, Belgium

1 on 1 Date: Marcus
They take a carriage ride through the city, and then do some shopping. We don't really see a whole lot happen on the day portion of the date other than Marcus talking about writing in his journal and Andi talking about how surprised she was when he told her that he was thinking about leaving.

At dinner, they don't really talk about anything new. It must have been boring, because the airtime seemed so much shorter than what we normally see. Either that, or, there's some major drama coming up on the group date or the pre-Rose Ceremony cocktail party that they didn't have enough time to show more of their date. Speaking about boring...there wasn't even a private concert at the end! They just kissed a little bit, and that was it.

Andi says that Marcus has everything that she's been looking for in a man, and he's a MAN.

Audition #2 Results
Remember, if they get a percentage of yeses above 70% they make it through. The tallies below are for the East Coast. If the West Coast votes 70% yeses, they can still make it through if they don't get it on the first showing on the East Coast.

My Thoughts

Shameia--I'm not sure why the judges loved her, I did not think she was that good at all. The beginning was especially rough. I can't believe how close that vote was! I'm guessing the West Coast will put her through.

April--I loved her! I love her voice, and the song choice was great. She had a handicap (she's missing part of her arm) and yet she still played the guitar! Wow!

Austin--I love his vibe, and his voice is incredible; he has great control, and his notes were spot on.

Triniti--3 really talented girls! Their harmony was really, really good. The middle girl had a ridiculous range! They could even rap. I'm not sure why they didn't get the votes.

Alice--I did not expect that voice from her! The song was also a surprising choice, but I thought she rocked it!

Rye--He's singing country, so that's one strike against him; his voice is pretty good, but nothing exciting. I'm on the fence with him, but he's just so boring.

Sonnet--Beautiful voice! What an interesting rendition of Chris Isaak's "Wicked Game"! I almost didn't know what it was. Those high notes were amazing, and she held them for an insane amount of time. There were a few pitchy spots, but overall, I really enjoyed her performance.

Deedra--He looks and sounds like he's 12 (except for the army uniform). He sounds very nervous and it's causing the notes to kind of be all over the place. The arrangement of this song is so childish, I did not like it at all.

Will--He has a really strong voice. I love his tone and just the slight hint of rasp. This was a perfect song choice for him. There's some different qualities to his voice and it's really cool. My favorite of the night!

Egypt--I wasn't really expecting a rapper. I'm not a fan of this song at all. I guess she sang it well, but it is not my style at all. You could tell she was talented at what she was doing. The score was another really close one. That probably means she might make it through based on the West Coast votes.

Adam--He had a decent voice, but it was just a little too bland. He got stronger as the song went on. At the beginning, the votes were coming in so slowly, I thought there was no way he would get enough. By the end, as his voice just grew and grew, he ended up tying for the highest score of the night.

Megan--You have to respect her taking a chance by playing the harp. Her voice was really good, but I found the harp actually distracting for this song. It probably would have sounded better with a different song. It was so distracting, I couldn't really enjoy her voice all that much. The more she sang, the more pitchy her voice was.

Big Brother, Ep. 16.3

HOH Alliance
Frankie and Caleb (HOHs) talk, and they decide they should work together. For one, they are both HOH right now, and two--no one would ever expect them working together in the future. So, once they decided to work together, they decided to drum up an army. They pull in Devin and Derrick. The 4 of them decide they would like to pull in Zach and possibly Cody. New alliance name: The Bomb Squad. They think this alliance will be awesome because they have lots of different styles and skills so they have a good chance of winning just about any competition. They don't think the girls are smart enough to suspect anything. Their major goal in this game is to eliminate the weak and the floaters. Hallelujah!

I love this alliance, and I hope they can stick together long enough to execute this plan. The only problem is that Cody and Derrick are not sold on this alliance 100%. They both secretly said that it's so early in the game to be committing to an alliance, and they don't really know each other that well yet. Cody said he wasn't sure if he was joining the next Brigade (dominant alliance of Hayden, Lane, Enzo and Matt that got 3 of the 4 to the final 3) or the Moving Company (the failure all-male alliance of season 15 that saw it's members decimated in the first couple weeks).

Devin now decides he is going all-in for the Bomb Squad, because he thinks it's better for his game, and he's decided to drop his alliance with Donny. Although, he's going to continue to let Donny think that they are still working together.

Nomination Discussion
Caleb and Frankie discuss options for nominations. They decide they need to nominate a guy and a girl so that no one is suspicious of an all-guy alliance.

They each have to draw an egg to find out if they are nominating first or second. This sort of answers the question of what if they want to nominate the same people. Caleb drew #1, so he was allowed to select his nominees first. When Frankie goes to make his selection, he can only choose from the remaining keys.

Nomination Ceremony*
Caleb nominates: Donny and Paola (he based his decision on they were both the first male and female to fall off in their HOH competition)
Frankie nominates: Victoria and Brittany (he picked the first 2 to fall off in the 2nd HOH competition)

Victoria was devastated because she thought her and Frankie were close. He tells her that Caleb voted first and if Paola's name would have still been available, he would have picked her instead. Donny said he wasn't surprised because he hasn't had much time to bond with Caleb. I am so happy Paola is nominated! She needs to go...she is so annoying!

*Can I just say: HALLELUJAH! There is finally a change in the Nomination Ceremony! No longer do they have to spin the box and pull keys out, and then fakely thank the HOH for keeping them safe! Now, the HOH says "the first person I nominate is..." and when they turn the key and their face shows up on the screen behind them. This makes the ceremony so much shorter, and gets right to the point. LOVE IT!

Bomb Squad Additions
In 1 day, the Bomb Squad is hitting the "self-destruct" button and it's about to implode...

Devin...ON HIS OWN...decides that they need to pull in the 2 strongest girls into their alliance because all-guy alliances have not worked in the past. Those 2 girls are Christine and Amber. He thinks they can bring inside information to the group. He tells them:
1) There's an all-guys alliance, made up of 6 guys (Nooooooo!)
2) The guys in the alliance are me, Frankie, Caleb, Zach, Cody and Derrick (Nooooooo!)

Holy crap, you IDIOT!!!!!! You cannot just make this decision on your own! And if you want to do this, you HAVE to talk to the other members FIRST! What on earth was he thinking? So, he goes and talks to Caleb in the early morning...poor guy is still asleep, and he tells him that there are 2 girls that they need to add to the alliance. He asks if they know about the alliance, and Devin says they know. He said it was getting old with just 6 guys. Wait...what?!?! Are you kidding me?

Later in the morning, the rest of the guys are told:
1) There are now 2 new members of the Bomb Squad
2) They are 2 girls
3) They know EVERYTHING

Meanwhile, both Christine and Amber are still loyal to the girls. They have no idea why Devin thought he could trust them, and they can't believe that they are being considered as full Bomb Squad members.

The guys...rightly so...are furious with Devin for making such a stupid move and for not consulting with them first. They actually had something good going, and this could have been a great alliance. Now, they have no chance of this working at all. Thanks a lot Devin. In one day's time, he ruined everything.

Battle of the Block
Challenge: nominees swing on swings to get to a fountain. They have to collect champagne from the fountain and throw it to the their team member. The first to fill up their glass wins.

Paola was terrible! It took them all awhile to get their swing started, but she never got the hang of it and was flopping all over the place. Brittany and Victoria did pretty well as a team. I felt bad for Donny. But...of the 4, Paola needs to go home, so we need her and Donny to lose this. But, that also leaves Donny in jeopardy.

Winners: Victoria and Brittany
Remaining Nominees: Donny and Paola
HOH: Caleb
Dethroned HOH: Frankie

BBUK 15: Week 3 Recap

Week 3 Recap

Big Brother Prisoners
Mark and Pauline are the Prison Guards. What they don't know is, the prisoners have been told by Big Brother to sneak things past the guards. Some people are in charge of distracting the guards, while the others sneak to the evidence room to steal evidence. Then, they have to hide what they stole around the house. The first job is to  peel potatoes. Finally, Big Brother announced that that wasn't the real task. Pauline and Mark now have to find what was hidden. Whatever is not found, they are allowed to keep. Along with the items, they won some exercise equipment, a takeaway and some massage oils.

Vetos
The Power Couple are given the opportunity to Veto 3 of their housmates' nominations. Their nominations will not count. Toya and Matthew choose Steven, Marlon, and Ash.

Nominations
Christopher -- Chris and Marlon
Winston -- Danielle and Kimberly
Danielle -- Chris and Ash
Kimberly -- Chris and Marlon
Helen -- Danielle and Chris
Mark -- Chris and Danielle
Jale -- Steven and Ash
Chris -- Steven and Winston
Ashleigh -- Ash and Winston

Vetoed Nominations that don't count:
Ash -- Danielle and Chris
Steven -- Danielle and Chris
Marlon -- Ashleigh and Kimberly

Chris = 5 nominations
Danielle and Ash = 3 nominations
Winston, Steven and Marlon = 2 nominations

When Big Brother announced the nominations, he included Kimberly's name...that is because of the vetoed nominations. Big Brother said that Toya and Matthew vetoed Ash, Steven and Marlon. By process of elimination, they can figure out who nominated Kimberly.

As a result of this, a huge fight ensues among all of the housemates. First it's Winston and Toya, then it's Ash and Toya. And then back to Toya and Winston. Helen and Ashleigh physically dragged Toya to the bathroom. Matthew was left to try to rationally defend and explain their decision with the group. I thought he handled himself really well.

Toya addressed everyone and said that her and Matt didn't even get to vote, and they were hoping that people's true colors would come out. And that's exactly what happened. She then blew up in the Diary Room. She said if Ash tries to apologize, she will pack up her bags because she will blow up. And she thinks they are childish? Her biggest complaints were that Ash called her a Prick (which was after she screamed at the group to "calm the f*** down!") and with Winston just being a childish idiot who pees on the toilet seat.

The next day, Toya tells Big Brother that if Marlon stays after eviction, she will leave the house. She said there is no chance of reconciliation between her, Marlon, Winston and Ash; "it's not gonna happen." Meanwhile the guys have had enough of her as well, and they can't even look at her.

Big Brother, Ep. 16.2 (Night 2 Premiere)

Tonight we see the rest of our houseguests move into the Big Brother house. How will they be received by the current houseguests? We'll see soon enough. Will they immediately make 100 different alliances like the first 8? Probably. Let's just hope we get some more creative names.

Here we go!

Group 2, first impressions:
Victoria Rafaeli -- looks like she will use her looks to her advantage
Caleb Reynolds -- cute country boy; a better looking Judd
Brittany Martinez -- looks way too young to have 3 kids
Christine Brecht -- very quirky and nerdy, but she looks like a total game player
Derrick Levasseur -- his cop experience and skills are going to help him in the game
Jocasta Odom -- why the bowtie, why? is it surgically attached to her body? why else would she wear it ALL the time?
Zach Rance -- so cute! reminds me a lot of Dan Gheesling
Hayden Voss -- this season's David, but let's hope he's not quite as stupid and annoying

Before entering the house, Julie informs them of the first twists.

1st group of 4 to enter the house: Jacosta, Christine, Hayden and Caleb
2nd group of 4 to enter the house: Victoria, Brittany, Derrick and Zach

Big Brother, Ep. 16.1 (Night 1 Premiere)

It's finally summer, because Big Brother is back! I'm so excited to get these people in the house and see what happens! If you missed my preview, make sure you check it out, so you have all the necessary details about the houseguests and the twists in store for this season.

It's Night 1, and for the first time in US Big Brother history, not all of the houseguests are going into the house tonight! Only 8 will be moving in tonight, with the final 8 joining them tomorrow night.

Group 1, First Impressions:
Donny Thompson -- looks like he belongs on Duck Dynasty...nice guy..."no fancy britches"; sounds a little like Gomer Pyle; he seems very out of his element, and could easily be an outcast, but he's so likable, so I think people will want to be his friend and confide in him
Cody Calafiore -- hot! hot! hot! that doesn't bode well for him...the hot guys usually don't last long
Frankie Grande -- wacky and wild; he's going to be loud and crazy all summer...talk about a major diva!
Amber Borzotra -- cute and sweet
Nicole Franzel -- cute country girl; scared of ghosts?
Devin Shepherd -- big muscles are going to be intimidating
Joey Van Pelt -- seems opinionated
Paola Shea -- seems high maintenance...3 months worth of eye lashes? she talks...A LOT and seems like she has to be in control; I'm sure this will get on people's nerves very quickly

1st group of 4 to enter the house: Joey, Amber, Cody and Donny
2nd group of 4 to enter the house: Paola, Devin, Nicole, Frankie

The Bachelorette, Ep. 10.6

Location: Venice and Verona, Italy

Andi meets the guys and tells them the first date starts now. Everyone in the group, including Cody, is totally expecting Cody to get this one-on-one because he is now the only guy in the group to not have a one-on-one date yet. Shocker...Andi picks Nick.

1 on 1 Date: Nick
She chose him before Cody because she has a lot of questions about Nick after what happened last week. She wants to make sure that she still has the same feelings for him now.

As the weeks go by, I like Nick less and less. Now we have to watch a whole one-on-one date with him? Yawn. He's so dull!

The day part of the date consisted of them walking around Venice, going into shops, trying some food and going on a gondola ride. A few smooches along the way, but no real conversation whatsoever. I'm seriously falling asleep here.

Dinner in a huge hall with painted ceilings. Andi thinks he looks like a prince in his tux. Um, no. She dives right into a rehashing of their last conversation about his saltiness on their group dates, and the negative comments from the other guys. He said he was hurt by the comments and doesn't like the "front-runner" stuff. She asks him if he thinks he's a front-runner. He pauses and says he doesn't like that word. He said he doesn't want to think about anyone else having a connection like what they have. He appreciates that she can speak openly about her concerns and ask tough questions. Then he said he is definitely falling in love with her. She is glad that he owned up to what he said, and she thinks that her first impressions about him were right.

She offers him the rose and he accepts. Cue the music...literally. OK, so there's a fancy dinner...let me guess, there's going to be a private concert for the 2 of them. OK, not quite this time, but since they are in a masquerade ballroom, she gives him a mask and she takes one as well, and they walk out to the courtyard, to...you guessed it...a private performance by an instrumental band.

Rising Star, Ep. 1.1

Welcome to Rising Star! The show with really simple concept, with kind of confusing rules. This show is taking social media interaction to a whole new level, because it's all live!

Josh Groban hosts the show, while Brad Paisley, Kesha and Ludacris serve as judges, or "experts". The 3 judges will be voting live along with America..

Groban met with the singers auditioning as they prepared for the show and gave them some mentoring. So, he's not just the host!

Here's the gist, and what you need to know:
  • A singer stands behind a huge wall and sings for a minute and 30 seconds
  • Viewers at home vote live "Yes" or "No" using the Rising Star app that you can download for free from the Apple, GooglePlay and Windows stores
    • Swipe right --> for YES and swipe left <-- for NO
  • Viewers must "check in" on the app before EVERY singer
    • Note: if a viewer checks in, and does not vote, it counts as a "no" vote
  • If the singer gets to 70% yeses, the wall will be raised and they will move on, if they don't they are eliminated
    • The judges' scores count for 7%
  • The show is live, but when shown on the west coast, those viewers can still vote...if enough of them vote "Yes" for a singer who was eliminated, that singer could be saved
How to Participate:
Once you download the app to your smartphone, and connect to your Facebook account, you're ready to go. For each performance, you'll need to Check In, and then make your Yes or No vote...
Step 1: Swipe to Check In, and wait
for the performance to begin
Step 2: Swipe right for YES or left for NO
Step 3: See the live results on your
app or on your TV screen

BBUK 15: Week 2 Recap

It's Week
2 in the BBUK House...

Mystic Mark
Big Brother has Mark uses his psychic powers to predict the future for 3 housemates.
Danielle - he said it could be her to be evicted
Winston - royal blue aura, which means he's loyal; something about a queen who was powerful...she had blonde hair, so Mark said that was Tamara, and thought that was a good sign
Helen - card with 6 cups represents the 6 people around her, then gets card with 5 cups which means one person goes away...she listed Tamara as one of the people in her group, and she was evicted!

A few days later, Mark decides to read tea leaves. He sees a face that looks like Marlon, and there was also the letter M. He, Ashleigh and Toya were there, and they all believe now that he is the Power Housemate.

Chris - Power Housemate

Big Brother Season 16 Preview and Cast

Season 16 of Big Brother starts in 6 days! I have mixed feelings about this new season. Part of me wants to be really excited, but part of me is really worried that we could end up with a complete disaster like last season. Not only was the cast pretty horrible by the way they acted toward one another, but they weren't even that great at playing the game. And then we ended up with a terrible winner, Andy Herron. On screen, he was a kind of funny character, but he was a major floater, and since winning has been nothing but disgusting on social media. I can't wait to crown a new winner and completely put Season 15 out of memory.

So, onto Season 16...what can we expect?

Season 16 Twists
Yesterday, on Julie Chen's daytime talk show, The Talk, she announced the major twists in store for what they are calling "the most twisted season ever".

1) Each week, there will be, not 1, but 2 Head of Households! Each one will nominate 2 people, which means that there will be 4 people up for eviction every week! Just think of the problems this will cause for people wanting to play the standard "backdoor" and "pawn" game. However, if you look at the photos of the house, there are still only 2 nominee chairs, so will the "Battle of the Block" (see Twist #2 below) have an effect on the number of people actually facing eviction each week? Looks like it might.

2) HOH's are no longer considered "safe"! Each week there will be a "Battle of the Block". This is really all that Julie said, so we don't know exactly how the HOH's figure into this. By the title, it sounds like all the nominees will be competing. Is it possible that the winner could then nominate someone in their place, including an HOH? Let the speculating begin on other possible theories. Also, by adding another competition, it is likely that one of the competitions we are accustomed to might not be a part of this season. I mean, do they really have time to show another competition? There's really only time for 1 competition per episode. So, it seems likely that maybe there will be no Power of Veto competition this year. Either that, or they get rid of the Food Competitions/Have-Have Not Competitions.

3) America will be impacting the game through "Team America". No word on exactly what the public will be voting on, but I would guess that it would be similar to previous seasons. Things like, what to make the houseguests do or eat. Or like last season, the public voted for an MVP (which totally backfired when it turned out to be Elissa every week).

4) 6/23/14 UPDATE!!! Big Brother Network announced today that the house will be divided (somehow) into 2 groups when entering the house. One group of 8 will arrive on Wednesday night, and the other group will enter on Thursday night. This is something that is VERY common on both the Australian and the UK version of Big Brother. It is most similar to the UK version, in which they usually do that very same thing. This announcement adds to the earlier announced twist of 2 HOHs. The question remains to be seen how the group will be divided, and whether or not the groups will be competing as "teams". There is certain to be a division of the "1st-nighters" and the "2nd-nighters". Alliances will begin forming immediately on the first night, and they will for sure vow to "stick together until the end" and pick off the other "team" one by one. It is also said that the first HOH competition will be taking place on Night 1 as well. We can expect the same of the 2nd group on Night 2. Another question, we'll just have to wait to find out the answer to is: will the HOHs be nominating among their "team" or is anyone going to be fair game?

The Bachelorette, Ep. 10.5

Marseille, France
One minute into the show and we get our first "Staaahp" from Andi. Oh boy...

1 on 1 Date: Josh
Josh and Andi walk around the city, saying "merci, merci".

Next, they take a boat sailing. Andi wants to dig deeper and see if there is more to him than the stereotypical ball player that she's dated in the past. And by digging deeper, she must have meant by making out. He said the main reason he stopped playing ball was because he wants to have a family.

Andi is worried that the only thing she has with him is physical chemistry...which is what she had with Juan Pablo. And because that obviously didn't work out, she's worried about Josh too.

Dinner was at a palace. The conversation centered on her first impressions of him and judging him right away as an athlete, and athletes often aren't faithful. He opened up to Andi and told her that he had actually been cheated on by his girlfriend. She listened to her friends who said he was probably cheating on her, and she ended up going out and making out with someone else. I have to say, I really like this side of Josh. Now that he's not all giddy and blushing, and totally nervous, he showed that he can have a normal conversation.

What night wouldn't be complete without a private concert by Ben Fields. Shocker! He must not have ever seen the show before. He was so caught off guard, because he thought the night was over and couldn't believe that they could possibly have a private concert just for them. The music put a spell on him, just like it did with Marcus. I thought he might actually drop the l-bomb on her too, but he didn't

No question, he received a rose, and he couldn't have had  bigger smile on his face when she offered it to him.

Group Date: Andrew, Chris, Cody, Dylan, JJ, Marcus, Marquel, Nick, Patrick

Big Brother UK 15: 2014 2-Part Launch

I have been so busy, that I actually, very sadly, missed the entire Big Brother Canada (BBCAN) season 2. I was really looking forward to watching it week by week, but it just didn't happen. I'm going to try to do better with the UK and hopefully catch up with Canada Season 2 at some point.

So, this summer's BBUK theme is: Powertrip. Oh my...here we go! Can I just say, that I didn't think I would miss them so much, but I really miss seeing last season's cast! Callum, Jack and Joe, Sam, and even Dexter and Gina! Hopefully this season's cast will be just as good.

The Bachelorette, Ep. 10.4

Andi and the guys head to Connecticut...

1 on 1 Date: Dylan
Dylan's excited because this is in his neck of the woods. They take a ride on a train. Not only are they going to ride, but she puts him to work, and they get to blow the horn. Woohoo. They talk about how nice the view is and how he's never done anything like it before.

Now, let's get deep. He asks her what her ideal date is...in the most monotone voice ever. He talks about the longest relationship he had and how it was a messy break-up. This leads into when this break-up happened. It was right around his brother's funeral. Silence. Now, he says he doesn't really ever tell anyone about his brother and sister dying from drugs, and he said he wants to open up and tell her about it. Which means he hasn't done it yet. So....how does she not say "oh my gosh, I'm sorry to hear about your brother" or something like that? She just sits there and doesn't even acknowledge what he just said (or maybe she was in shock?). Finally he says, "I swam across this river once", and she says "those were the days". Really? That is so lame. And, we're back to talking about the lovely view.

In Andi's ITM, she says she can tell he is holding back a huge story that he's just waiting to tell her. She's hoping he will tell her at dinner. She doesn't think they can start anything until he lets out what he has to say.

Time for dinner. He tells her that eventually she will see the real Dylan. There's no time like the present dude, better get on with it, or no rose for you. She said she can tell he's nervous, and he said he normally isn't. He continues to say that he wants her to get to know him. Cue sad story:

He never really had a dad. 4 years ago he was in college and his mom called him, crying. His sister had just passed away from an overdose. His brother was very close to their sister and he took her death very hard. He did rehab, and had his ups and downs. But in November (which is not much before this was filmed), his grandfather called and said his brother was on his way to the hospital and he was in a coma. When he got there, he was brain dead. He finishes his story by saying he doesn't want her to feel bad for him and keep him around because she feels bad for him. Through all this, with him breaking down crying...it's just so sad. Andi pretty much just sat there with a blank stare, and she didn't really try to comfort him at all or give him a hug or hold his hand or anything. It was pretty awkward.

Andi says in her ITM that she wasn't sure she should have picked this date for him because she didn't know what memories it would bring up for him.

They talk about how she knew he had his guard up, but she's glad he lowered it for her. He said even some of his closest friends don't know what he's shared with her. She gave him the rose and assured him that it was not a pity rose.

They top off the night by blowing the train's whistle.

The Bachelorette, Ep. 10.3

The crew heads to Santa Barbara.

No Date This Week: Chris, Dylan

1 on 1 Date: Nick

I don't know about anyone else, but I just get a very weird vibe from Nick. He just kind of seems like he's faking his shy personality, and that he really isn't normally how he's portraying himself. Funny I mention this at the top of the show, because the guys are now talking about how they wonder if he's showing her the "real him". They also said that he is very skeptical of the process. I guess I'm not the only one.

They meet up and go for a bike ride. They stop and go for a walk and also sit and talk. He tells her that he has a crush on her and he hopes his shyness is endearing.  They hike up a mountain, and then pause, for dramatic effect, while they stare into the sunset.

At night, they continue their walk, and they end up at the courthouse for a romantic dinner. First of all, kind of weird to have a romantic dinner at a courthouse. But, I think my Mom and I were at that courthouse when we visited Santa Barbara, and it was beautiful there.

Over dinner she asks him why he's still single. He said he was engaged "for a minute" when he was 27.  He says he learned a lot from that relationship. The more I hear him talk, the more I really don't care for him. Then he adds that he doesn't think it's romantic to say that "you're meant to be" with someone. I didn't really understand his reasoning behind that.

Andi thinks he just "gets it" and she thinks she can make him a believer in this process, and she offered him a rose. Then they had a make-out session at the top of the clocktower on the courthouse. And yes...I was definitely there...I remember that clocktower.
