No Date This Week: Chris, Dylan
1 on 1 Date: Nick
I don't know about anyone else, but I just get a very weird vibe from Nick. He just kind of seems like he's faking his shy personality, and that he really isn't normally how he's portraying himself. Funny I mention this at the top of the show, because the guys are now talking about how they wonder if he's showing her the "real him". They also said that he is very skeptical of the process. I guess I'm not the only one.
They meet up and go for a bike ride. They stop and go for a walk and also sit and talk. He tells her that he has a crush on her and he hopes his shyness is endearing. They hike up a mountain, and then pause, for dramatic effect, while they stare into the sunset.
At night, they continue their walk, and they end up at the courthouse for a romantic dinner. First of all, kind of weird to have a romantic dinner at a courthouse. But, I think my Mom and I were at that courthouse when we visited Santa Barbara, and it was beautiful there.
Over dinner she asks him why he's still single. He said he was engaged "for a minute" when he was 27. He says he learned a lot from that relationship. The more I hear him talk, the more I really don't care for him. Then he adds that he doesn't think it's romantic to say that "you're meant to be" with someone. I didn't really understand his reasoning behind that.
Andi thinks he just "gets it" and she thinks she can make him a believer in this process, and she offered him a rose. Then they had a make-out session at the top of the clocktower on the courthouse. And yes...I was definitely there...I remember that clocktower.
Marcus was less than pleased to learn that he was going on a group date instead of getting a one-on-one, and he was also upset that Nick got a one-on-one before he did.
Patrick is excited that he got the first hug of the day. Big day for him apparently.
Their date is going to be with Boyz II Men and they guys are psyched! They get very excited to hear them singing "I'll Make Love To You". Bradley is the most excited...obviously because he can "sing". If you can call his way over-the-top opera "singing".
My thoughts on some of the guys:
Josh--not so good, but he tried
Cody--ouch, I can see why he got kicked out of choir
Marcus--even worse...proof that not all cute guys should be singers
Bradley--proving he should stick with opera and not attempt this kind of music...ever
Tasos--not horrible
Andi--not good, not good, not good and no one-on-one lesson will be enough to fix that hot mess
Andi drops the bombshell on them and tells that they will be performing for a live crowd at the Boyz II Men concert. Guess who's pumped? Yep, Bradley. "I've sung in front of thousands of people before." Good for you dude. I really feel bad for some of these other guys. Most of them were also on the "stripping" group date where they had to strip down and dance in front of an audience...which is really embarrassing. And now, some of the same guys are being forced to do something else embarrassing in front of a crowd. The producers need to come up with some new ideas, because that's just mean.
It's time for the performance. Bradley wants the rose badly and he will be very devastated if he doesn't
Bradley starts off the guys' performance, and you would think he probably started them off on a good note, but...oh, it was awful! He was so pitchy! And then his over-the-top vibrato was just so out of place on a song like this. I know the dude sings opera, but he should be able to sing "normally" as well. Him turning Boyz II Men into an opera, just didn't work at all.
Erik was next, and he was actually pretty good and he was committed to giving it a try. Not surprising.
Cody sang with his eyes closed for most of his part, and he couldn't stop laughing, so that was pretty funny.
Marquel went for it on the chorus, and he went over to personally serenade Andi. As all the guys sang the chorus, it was hard to know who to look at. You had Bradley doing some sort of creepy slow dance with his microphone,
Ron and Josh came in for some solo time, and I wish they hadn't...it was really painful. Josh and Marcus both forgot the words, but at least they were able to joke their way through it by singing "I forgot the words".
But you have to give them all credit for getting out there and giving it a try. I just hope they all stick to their day jobs, and maybe Bradley starts to look for a new day job, or maybe take some lessons from Sharleen.
The moment of the whole performance for me was: Andrew and Patrick hugging around a shared microphone. Nope, these 2 are definitely not gay. When they were reading the date card and I noticed both of them were on this date, I wondered if we would get to see them together, and this definitely didn't disappoint. They were in their own little zone just enjoying each other. Nope, not creepy at all.
I take that back...the BEST moment of the performance was the shot of the little girl covering her ears while Bradley tried to power over everybody with a long held-out note, at the top of his lungs. Priceless. I'm right there with you little girl...where are my earplugs.
Finally, the singing portion of the date is over.
For Cody's one-on-one time, Andi says she wants to make something up when she's talking to him, just to mess with him. Why she wants to do this, I have no idea. She says that she doesn't like to get involved with the drama in the house, but she needed to confront him about something. She said that some of the guys have been saying that he has a girlfriend. Obviously, he is very confused by this. He said he's been single for 3 1/2 years. Then she laughs at him and told him it was all just a joke. Other than that, they didn't have any other conversation (that we got to see).
Erik is next. He is hoping that what they had on their first date is still there, because she greets him differently since their date. She said of course it's a little awkward around the other guys.
Marquel asks her what her favorite color is, and she responds "Is black a color?" Seriously, Andi? Of course it's a color, and of course it would be a little weird that it's your favorite color. And of course it's a little weird because you're saying it to a black guy. His response: "OK, duly noted."
With Marcus, Andi points out the obvious: "That's the ocean." Um...OK. She tells him that even though he's in the background, she notices him. He tells her that he has wanted to kiss her for the longest time. She said "It's about time." He now feels pretty confident that he's going to get the group date rose.
Josh said he had a great time on the date, but it was nerve wracking, and he forgot the words. That's OK, because it's makeout time. And what do we learn about Josh...he's a moaner. Yeah, not very attractive. He says that she makes him nervous. He wants to see her and kiss her everyday. He says he likes her a lot, and he also feels very confident about getting the group date rose.
Group Date Rose: Josh--because he opened up to her, and at the end of the day, made her feel good.
1 on 1 Date: JJ
He is so excited! It's his first date with Andi. He hasn't even had a group date yet. He said he's had a lot of time to think about it.

For their date, they are going to grow old together...by getting done head to toe in hair and makeup to look like old people. I think this is a very strange idea for a first date.
I have to say that I love their reactions of seeing each other. That was hilarious! Those makeup artists were great because they really transformed their looks completely.
Now, they are going to walk around on the boardwalk and see if they can fool some people. Walking them walk all hunched over was HILARIOUS! They had people take pictures of them and they told them it was their 50th wedding anniversary. Their voices needed some work. They were kind of whispering in this weird raspy voice. Oh, and then watching them on their scooters...wow...that's a sight. I think they definitely had fun. Then they started playing football and doing cartwheels...now that got some stares and laughter from the people in the park.
In another funny moment, he said he had something for her, and it was a Worther's candy (you know...the candy old people like).
They enjoyed a ride on a carousel before their dinner. Luckily for dinner, they get to look like themselves again. I was starting to get creeped out by their old-person alter-egos.
He talks about being a dork and not getting along with people socially when he was younger. He said that's where some of his insecurities and the quirky/jokey side of him comes from. He loves that she accepts him for who he really is, and that she genuinely wants to get to know him better.
She offers him the rose and tells him that she loves that he's unique and an individual. She said she is drawn to that side of him and she respects that about him. I have to say I was a little skeptical about JJ and his strange pants (because that's all we've really seen of him). But, after seeing this date, my thoughts about him have changed. He seems like a really good guy, and he's a lot funnier than I thought he would be.
Pre-Rose Ceremony Elimination: Ron
Ron got a phone call and he was told that a very close friend of his died (don't know how he had access to a phone). He told the group that he wasn't in the right place mentally to stay there. He didn't even say goodbye to Andi.
Cocktail Party
Erik thanked her again for picking him to go on the first date. In the middle of their talk, someone comes in with a vase of flowers for her to sign for....and they weren't from Erik...AWKWARD. They were from Nik. Poor Erik, those flowers really threw him off, and he couldn't really put a sentence together after that.
She seeks out Nik to thank him for the flowers, and the thank you note that was attached. He said he wanted to make this unnatural experience a little more like what would happen in real life.
Marcus tells Andi that he believes in love at first sight, and he feels that way about her. They make out, and he gives her a note, and he wanted her to know that he thinks about her even when he's not with her.
JJ says there is something he wants to get off of his chest before the rose ceremony. He said that on the last group date, Andrew got another girl's phone number (the waitress). He said he even bragged to the other guys about getting the number. JJ talked to Josh about it and they both agreed that Andi should know about it because they thought it was really disrespectful to Andi and the other guys who are there for the right reasons. Both of them having roses, confronted Andrew to see what he had to say about it. All he said was "I'm not going to engage in this, I'm sorry" and then walked away. Well, I guess that means he's guilty. They followed him upstairs and he just slammed the door in their faces. Honestly, the only thing that I'm surprised about here is that it was a waitress and not a waiter's number. I wonder if Patrick knows about this.

Andrew claims the guys attacked him because he's a threat. Yeah, the guy who hasn't had a one-on-one date yet, and has barely spoken to her. He's had way more action with Patrick than he has with Andi. Yes, Andrew, they should be very scared of you. That makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. Delusional: party of one. He said they had a plan, and they executed their plan and it was like warfare. Yes, exactly the same, Andrew.
He finally comes back downstairs and agrees they can talk about what happened, but he didn't appreciate being attacked. Josh says he was sorry, but he gets fired up when he hears stuff like what he did. Andrew said he was given a phone number, he didn't ask for it, and that was it. JJ said, then why did you brag to the other 5 guys in the van about it? He said he didn't remember bragging about it. Nick said that when they got back, he told the other guys in their room about it too. He said he doesn't remember that happening. Isn't it a little strange that everyone remembers the same things? Maybe he was just a little too drunk and pulled a Craig. Andrew just looks like a skeevy perv and he's looking for a way out of this hole he's dug himself into.
At this point, it looks like they aren't going to say anything to Andi yet.
Rose Ceremony Eliminations (2, but 3 eliminated total): Bradley, Brett (Ron left before)
Aw...poor Bradley...on a date where he should have had the upperhand. Just didn't work out for him this time. Man...didn't see that coming...I mean, they had such an operatic chemistry (sarcasm).
Remaining Guys (13): Andrew, Brian, Chris, Cody, Dylan, Eric, JJ, Josh, Marcus, Marquel, Nick, Patrick, Tasos
