Second
episode of season 14, here we go. Each episode has so much to discuss
and dissect, so I think what I'm going to start doing is give a brief
synopsis of what happens in the episode, and then cover all the
details.
Episode
Synopsis
- Boogie wins the Coaches Challenge and gives Ian immunity
- Shane, Ashley, Ian and Danielle were chosen as Have-Nots for the week
- Willie nominates Frank and Kara for eviction
I'm
excited to see how the alliances will start form. Will people stick
with their teammates, or will there be alliances across teams?
Should be interesting. In the words of Wil: “It's official. The
games have begun.”
Alliance
Formation
Dan was
smart putting Kara and Danielle on the same team, because they seem
like they will make a very tight alliance. Their personalities are
very similar and they seem to have a lot in common.
The
coaches almost immediately start to pair up. First it's the guys.
Boogie asks Dan if he wants to “Will it up”, which means he wants
to basically create Chilltown 2.0. (For anyone not familiar with the "Chilltown" alliance: in Season 2, Boogie and Dr. Will teamed up to create the
alliance known as Chilltown. The duo resurrected Chilltown in Season
7, for the All Stars season. They
were basically, the “cool kids”, hence the name.) Since the guys
have teamed up, naturally, Britney and Janelle are quick to team up.
Janelle knows Boogie very well, having played with him on the All
Stars season, so she knows if he's talking to Dan, that pretty much
means they are forming an alliance. Very quickly, it's become guys vs
girls.
On both
sides, the alliances seem to make a lot of sense. The hard part?
Convincing their team members that it's going to be a good idea to
stick together. While the coaches might be on board with making an
alliance, that doesn't necessarily mean that each of their team
members are going to want to go along with the alliances that the
coaches are forming.
HOH
(Head of Household) Room
Willie
gets to see his master suite, the HOH room, for the week. He jokes
that “a real king gets a suite”...making fun of Russell having to
sleep in the dirt, when he was the self-proclaimed king of the
island.
In
another new addition to the game this year, the coach of the HOH also
gets their own room, sort of. The coach's suite is adjoined to the
HOH room...with no door. Needless to say, Britney was a little
creeped out to be sleeping so closely to Willie, with not much of a
buffer zone.
As most
people know, one of the special perks of the HOH room is a tv with
access to hidden cameras around the house. Essentially, they can see
what everyone's doing, who they're talking to, etc. The first
performance they get to see is Ian. Now, Ian is a huge Big Brother
fan, as he's made it quite
known, so one would think that he would be aware that Willie could be
watching him. He can't sleep, so he decides to scour the house,
checking things out. He has a good memory, so obviously, checking the
house out so thoroughly, will help him in future challenges when they
are asked to remember details about the house. That is, if he lasts
long enough to get to that point. Those in the HOH room are starting
to seriously question who this kid is, and what he's up to. He starts
acting crazy, like spanking himself on the butt and crawling under
a table.
Willie
was having a blast watching him, he said: “this is like the
best movie ever.” Haha! To those watching him right now, he looks
like a lunatic who's one beaker short of a chemistry set, but I think (for the most part) he knows what he's doing. I think he knows that they are all
watching him. But, if he's not careful, his plan is going to backfire on him, because there are some really smart people playing this game, and some of them are on to him.
So, now
it's down to business. Britney has to talk to her players and get
them on board with siding with Team Janelle. But in this case, it doesn't take too much persuading to get Ashley, Wil, Joe, Jojo, Shane and Willie to go along with Janelle and Britney's plan.
OMG!!!!! Willie couldn't
last more than 1 day before he had to let the cat out of the bag, and
confirm that he is in fact Russell's brother. Wow...even Brandon
lasted longer than that!
Willie
thinking strategy, knows he needs to do some talking to, what has now
become the “other side”. He goes to Frank because he thinks that
they are very similar. Frank is on board, and promises loyalty to
Willie. Things seem to be progressing nicely.
Back to
Ian. Let's just say that everyone is starting to become slightly
annoyed. OK, they're really getting annoyed. Janelle thinks that Ian
is a creeper...he walks on his tippy-toes. That's just weird. Poor
Danielle hasn't been able to take a shower, because he's always
lurking in the bathroom. All of the girls are afraid that he's going
to watch them sleep. Oh no! Now he's naked! Boogie needs to do some
damage control. There's a time to be the funny guy making everyone
laugh, and then there's the very fine line into just being an idiot
and making it totally unbearable for people to live with you. He's
teetering on that line. Pretty much everyone wants him put on the
block. Uh-oh...
Boogie
is impressed with Frank. He thinks that he's got a good thing going
right now. He's very likable and he doesn't appear to be a
threat...which makes him a threat. He tells Boogie that Willie
initiated conversation and he feels VERY safe (and admits that he
probably shouldn't feel as safe as he does...RED FLAG! Alarm bells
should be going “ringy dingy dingy!” That is EXACTLY when you
should feel worried).
Coaches
Competition
This
season there is a new competition, just for the coaches. The winner
has the power to grant immunity to one of their team members. Watch
out, Janelle, the competition queen is in the house! This new
competition will also determine the haves and the “Have-Nots” for
the week.
Big
Brother Derby (aka “Sliding Horse Race”). This reminds me of the
challenge on Survivor where they had to carry heavy bags while
running through water. The difference: this is on a slip-n-slide and
they are running with stuffed animal horses.
Mike vs
Britney – Poor Britney just isn't very good at competitions.
Boogie
wins the first heat.
Dan vs
Janelle – Janelle wins, because Dan wants to throw it so there isn't a target on his team's back. Interesting strategy
since he's already down one player.
Side
observation: Wil screams like a girl (big surprise!).
Boogie
vs. Janelle – This one is about revenge for Janelle (since Boogie
voted her out in the All Stars season). Janelle is a work horse (pun
intended)! But oh wait...Boogie is catching up, and Janelle is
tagged!
Boogie
wins the right to choose to save one of his players: Jenn, Frank or
Ian. Based on his conversation with Frank, he doesn't think he has
anything to worry about. Jenn hasn't really been a factor, so she's
probably safe. That leaves Ian, the guy who's been everyone's target
so far. I'm hoping that Boogie takes this opportunity to sit Ian down
and explain what's going on and tell him to take it down a notch.
The
coaches now each have to pick players to be “Have-Nots”. Britney
picks Shane, Janelle picks Ashley, Boogie picks Ian, and Dan picks
Danielle.
For
anyone who doesn't know what a Have-Not is: Have-not = slop only (no
other food), cold showers and they sleep (this year) in a twisty,
psychedelic room with beds that are slanted with raised bumps on
them. Ian is kind of happy...he's always wanted to try the slop.
Strange kid, that one. Danielle, on the other hand, is nothing but whiny. That high-pitched, shrill voice is going to get old, really quickly.
Nomination
Ceremony
So, who
to nominate. Ian was the obvious choice, so now Willie and Team
Britney/Team Janelle must look elsewhere. They come to the conclusion
that they should put up the one person Dan doesn't want to lose and
who Boogie doesn't want to lose, so that would be Kara and Frank.
On the
other side, we have Dan and Boogie. They are really going to make a
tough duo. They are both incredibly smart and they really know this
game. I mean, they both won, so, yeah, they know what they're talking
about. They waste no time analyzing their players and sharing tips on
what to do with each of their players.
Boogie
starts looking for players to suggest to Willie. He thinks that Joe
could have a tendency to be a “hot head” and isn't as likeable
like Frank. Doing what he does best, Joe wastes no time preparing
huge delicious meals for the house. Boogie reminds the viewers that
the house is only allotted a certain amount of food for the week, so
if he continues to make such large meals, they could all end up with
nothing to eat for a couple of days. He said that Joe must think they
are the Waltons the way he's cooking up the big family dinners.
Boogie shares his thoughts on the “potentially volatile” Joe with
Willie, and he's hoping that his seeds grow an orange tree that Joe
will go hang himself on. Gotta love Boogie! Ha!
Question:
Is Joe hard of hearing? Why does he scream everything he says in the
Diary Room?
Willie thinks the coaches will be surprised by his nominations. Oh
snap! Willie nominated Frank and Kara! Frank was totally blind-sided.
He really thought that Willie was going to have his back. So much for
Willie showing Frank some protection. Gee, who does his game-play
remind me of? It's on the tip of my tongue...I think it starts with
an R and ends with an -ussell. Was it a little too soon to make a "Russell" move? It could be deadly. He already had the fact that people thought he would play like Russell, against him. He manages to get at least some people to think that he's not like Russell, but that deceptive move kind of proved that he and Russell aren't so different.
Boogie's face was priceless. As good of a player as he is, he still didn't see that coming.

The coaches competition was extremely funny and creative. I think if I was a coach I would of thrown it too-easy way out. I think Willie burned one bridge that will come back and haunt him- (Frank)-too early in the game for such a bold move. Can't wait to see how those poor kids sleep in that terrible crooked room with all those black and white stripes, that could drive you bonkers and to put Ian in there-sorry but he needs to go. Don't know why the Joe is always yelling either-but I kinda like that he is different.
I do pity those guys who are stuck in the room with Ian! Luckily, it's just for one week!
Joe is definitely different! I love his enthusiasm, but he wouldn't have to yell ALL the time. He has had some pretty good one-liners. I agree about Willie. In his situation, the best thing for him to do is to lay low under the radar. He should not be the one making big moves...it just puts an even bigger target on his back. The coaches were already suspicious of him, so they will be very quick to persuade their teams to go after him.
