Leg 4: Malaysian Borneo
Dave & Connor lead it off.
Road Block: Leaps and Bounds
Task: perform a ceremonial bounce on a wooden trampoline and try to jump and get a flag. The natives are bouncing them, as they have to jump at the right time to get the flag (it's adjusted according to their height).
Connor got it right away, while it took Leo a couple jumps. Cord was really struggling...it took him 47 tries! Luckily, they were still in 3rd, and were leaving just as Margie & Luke were arriving.
Only 3 teams can make the first flight to Kuala Lampur (which strangely enough is where the missing plane in the news is from).
Jessica was really struggling and couldn't get the rhythm down. She had to stop because her feet started bleeding, and when they showed her feet, they were all blistered. Poor girl! She finally got it, as they left in 7th place.
Last there were Brendon & Rachel. She was wearing pantyhose and that was making her slip. She had to stop to take them off! Who races in pantyhose?
Margie & Luke and Flight Time & Big Easy made it on the 2nd flight. The flight ended up being delayed 50 minutes, and the 3rd flight ended up being the 2nd flight! Only a few minutes were separating them.
Detour: Mix Master or Master Mix
In Mix Master, they will learn how to DJ and will have to show off their scratching skills. In Master Mix, they will pour a pyramid of cocktails without mixing colors.
The Afgahnimals were ready to party! One of them was a bartender so they were pretty sure they could handle the mixing drinks. Jet & Cord and Dave & Connor chose that one because they all knew they had no rhythm and wouldn't be able to do the DJ thing.
The Afgahnimals decide to switch. The Cowboys stuck with it, and Jet got it to work! Good job Jet! Connor also got it on his 12th attempt. Nice!
Things were not going well for any of the teams. I think even without rhythm, the DJ one would have been easier. Pouring all the cups at the same time without spilling and without mixing looked way too hard.
The 2nd and 3rd flights all have caught up. They were an hour behind, but the other teams had been trying for over 2 hours.
Rachel was a bartender, so she thought she could do that one. A lot of the groups from the 2nd and 3rd flights went for the DJ task.
Flight Time & Big Easy are the first to try DJing, even though they came in after Leo & Jamal. OK, so maybe this one wasn't so easy after all. They had to listen to a scratching beat and then repeat it exactly. They didn't get it and had to go back and practice. Leo & Jamal were doing really well, and got it on the first try.
Brendon & Rachel were still really struggling. Brendon was even trying to pour, and he wasn't getting it either. They weren't sure if they wanted to switch or not.
Flight Time & Big Easy still kept messing it up each time.
Margie & Luke were trying the mixing drinks, and they were both pretty frustrated. They knew they wouldn't be able to do the DJ one with Luke being deaf.
Caroline & Jennifer got the DJ task completed on the first try, while Jessica & John took several tries. Finally, Flight Time & Big Easy finished.
Poor Margie & Luke. The drink challenge was reminding them of what happened in the season they competed with the tea challenge. Luke gets very frustrated when he's not able to do something. He smashed some glasses and stormed off. Brendon came over to try to calm him down, and he and Rachel did the deaf form of applause by waving their hands for him.
It was down to Margie & Luke and Brendon & Rachel. Margie asked if they wanted to each take the time penalty since they were both having trouble. Rachel said she wanted to fight it out because she knew they could all do it. Brendon was getting just as frustrated as Luke was. After Brendon & Rachel talked to them, Luke calmed down, and Margie was able to pour the drinks and got it right. That meant that Brendon & Rachel were last. Rachel prayed with Brendon and they wanted to do it for their family and to show that they wouldn't give up. Finally, they got it! I feel so bad for them!
