It's all come down to this: one final leg to determine the winner of Season 24 All-Stars! Phil has previewed that we're in for a VERY close final trip to the mat...so who's it gonna be?
Leg 12: Liverpool, England -> Las Vegas, Nevada, USA
Dave & Connor lead off the final leg.
Brendon & Rachel are psyched to be going to Rachel's hometown...Dave & Connor are not. Go #TeamBrenchel!
All 3 teams made the same flight to Las Vegas. The Country Girls accuse Rachel of pushing them and cutting in line to get to the vehicles.
Their drivers take them out in the middle of nowhere and tell them to start digging. Dave & Connor accuse Brendon & Rachel of digging dirt and throwing it at them and in their hole. Dave & Connor are the first to find a box, and it says that it is property of David Copperfield. Brendon & Rachel find theirs next. The boxes said to open and return to David Copperfield. None of the teams could open it, except Rachel, who climbed into the backseat and got a tire iron for Brendon to pry it open with. Inside were a bunch of keys.
Roadblock
At the next clue, they will be put in a box and chained, and they have to use one of the keys to free themselves.
Dave couldn't get his box open to get to the keys, but after throwing the box on the ground several times, it finally came open. I don't think the Country Girls are going to get it that easy. Yep...they have no clue how to get into the box.
Connor, Rachel and Jen are the ones inside the boxes trying to get out. There's a lot of keys to choose from.
Connor is the first to find the right key, and he did it pretty quickly. Once freed, he had to open another lock at the top, meanwhile...the box is being set on fire and the box is lifted up in the air. He gives the signal for Dave to flip the switch to release him from the box, and POOF! The box disappears in a cloud of fire and smoke. Whoa! So cool! But wait...where's Connor?! Then all of a sudden, he comes running up behind Dave, wearing a firefighter costume and scares the crap out of him.
Rachel's now free and working on the next lock. Brendon flips the switch, and POOF!
In last place, Jen is released not far behind the others.
Route Info
They go to a place where there are a lot of large neon signs and find the cluebox. They are told to go to a silver and red question mark and unscrew a light bulb and take it to the Mirage.
Rachel is excited because she used to work at the Mirage.
Brendon tries to buy the Country Girls taxi because their driver wasn't that good. He offered to pay more, but their driver wasn't budging.
Route Info
Somehow, Caroline & Jen make it there first. How the heck did they do that? Brendon & Rachel's taxi driver looked like he could really care less about what was going on. He was not moving fast at all, and they were hitting every red light.
The task is to take a window washing basket up the side of the building, 30 stories, to screw in their light bulb, and many more, in the letter I of "Mirage", and then count the number of light bulbs used.
Brendon & Rachel finally arrive and she thinks she knows where the Employee Entrance is. They get there, but they don't see the clue box. She thinks they need to find the next clue somewhere, but Brendon isn't sure. He thinks they might have to search the whole hotel. Oh geez...this is NOT good! They are already in last place and the other 2 teams are almost done putting in their light bulbs. Luckily, they run back outside and see the cluebox.
Dave & Connor pass up the girls and get all their light bulbs in, but their number is wrong the first time, but immediately get the right number. The girls get it right on the first try, very soon after Dave & Connor.
Brendon & Rachel appear to make up a lot of time, and also guess correctly. I wonder how close they actually are.
Roadblock: Light Up The Sky
On the way to Maverick Helicopters, Dave & Connor's taxi passes the girls.
They fly in a helicopter and have to find the building with the sign of their destination. Then they will jump out of the helicopter.
In the helicopters: Dave, Brendon and Caroline
Dave and Caroline see the sign and they are approved for the jump.
Connor and Dave are waiting at the mat inside the stadium with Phil and the rest of this season's teams. Oh no...that means Rachel hasn't arrived yet, and there's no sign of Brendon spotting his answer. That means the first and second place is going to be between Dave & Connor (a very deserving team) and Caroline & Jennifer (a not as deserving team...having been eliminated twice and helped countless times by other teams).
No one knows who's going to jump first and who's going to be able to make it to the mat first.
They all think it's Caroline, but it's Dave!
Final Leg Standings:
1. Dave & Connor
2. Caroline & Jennifer
3. Brendon & Rachel
Dave becomes the oldest winner of the Amazing Race. It's also the first time the winners have been a parent/child team.
Rachel was in tears waiting for Brendon. That really sucks. They wanted to win so badly. I was really hoping for Brendon & Rachel to win, but Dave & Connor are so deserving. They probably would have won their original season if Dave hadn't gotten injured, forcing them to withdraw from the race. The only thing that soured me on Dave & Connor was their reaction to being U-Turned by Brendon & Rachel. They acted like babies and Dave pulled the "old man" card...which was totally uncalled for, seeing as he was out-competing everyone who was younger than him. Brendon & Rachel didn't U-Turn them to be mean, or for any personal reason. It's a game, and that is a legal move, put in place by production for teams to use. The way Dave & Connor, Caroline & Jennifer and Leo & Jamal ganged up together against Brendon & Rachel really wasn't fair. Did it affect the outcome of the race? Possibly, but it's a race that requires a lot of skill and a lot of luck, so anything's possible.
It was a fun season...can't wait til season 25!
