Survivor, Ep. 31.1

I'm so excited for Survivor!!! I think this is going to be a great season! This time around, it's all about 2nd chances. Each are playing for their 2nd time, and we will revisit challenges some of them have faced in the past. Will there be a Redemption Island, since this is kind of all about "redemption"? What other twists will we see? I can't wait to find out! And we're off to Cambodia!

The survivors arrive and there is no clear-cut color scheme to their clothes, so how will they be split into tribes? Jeff meets them and they are split into 4 boats. The first 2 boats are one tribe, and the other tribe is the 2nd 2 boats. I was kind of hoping for a schoolyard pick to see who wanted who.

Tribes:

Race for Supplies
They have to gather as many supplies as they can from one boat. There is a 2nd boat that has a large bag of rice, and the first person to reach it wins it for their tribe.

Spencer makes it to the boat first, followed by Joe and everyone else scrambling like mad to climb into the boat. Spencer got a bunch of chickens. Joe went for fruit .Probst is in the wrong place and is getting hit in the head and pushed around. Get out of there Jeff!

Ta Keo is on the boat and releases and heads to the rice. The 2nd boat is not far behind. Kelly Wiglesworth, like in the 1st season is swimming ahead of the boat! She is going faster than the raft. Joe takes off after her to try to beat her...he just passed her up! But where did Woo come from?! Woo makes it first and he wins the rice for Ta Keo.

Ta Keo Camp

Kelly Wiglesworth recognizes the people who are there to work: Terry, Vytas, Woo, Spencer, and herself. She wants people to remember that she is a hard worker.

Terry recognizes the differences between "old school" and "new school" Survivor. He makes Vytas an honorary "old school" because Vytas's brother Aras played with him. Terry's children told him to align with Spencer. They shake on a mutual bond. Spencer recognizes the need to have a lot of conversations with everyone.

Abi immediately starts whining because her bag is missing. Inside the bag was a special bracelet. Wow, like 5 minutes in and she is already driving everyone nuts!

Vytas said he was happy to be on a tribe with Abi. Last time, he was on a tribe with all girls, so he is right at home. He meets up with Kelley Wentworth, and even though they were on the same season, they haven't really ever talked. He is trying to come off as the nice guy.

Shirin is immediately skeptical of Vytas. She tells Spencer and Jeff that Vytas is connected with a LOT of people. Those connections are dangerous. She said he also has a lot of connectionswith the other tribe. Jeff's mind is blown because she knows SO MUCH and he is so far behind. She starts throwing out all kinds of ideas and Jeff was ready to go for the ride. Spencer seemed on board too. Jeff hasn't played for 15 years and he feels so out of his element and his first time was the adventure, and he has to adjust to this fast-paced, nothing-but-strategy type of play.

Abi finally finds her bracelet...in Peih-Gee's bag. What?! Oh, look out! Peih-Gee hasn't said a word and just looks totally lost right now. Does she even know where she is or what she's doing there? Peih-Gee wanted to straighten things out so she doesn't think she stole it. Her explanation was that she saw a bag with no one's name on it, so she just picked it up and put it in her bag. Duh Peih-Gee! Where do you think the bag came from? Did you think some local dropped it? Of course it belonged to someone. What a lame excuse. Abi tried her hardest not to have a blowup on the first day.

Jeff and Peih-Gee think there is a divide between shelter people (old school) and beach people (new school). They think they are kind of in between both tribes. She thinks they need to do something with Abi (as in get rid of her).

Kelley decided to move some palm fronts around and that would give her a chance to look for the idol. She finds something...she thinks it's an idol, and she shoves it quickly into her shorts, without looking at it. Later, she opens it and she finds out that it is a clue. It tells her that the idol will be in the middle of the Immunity Challenge. Big risk - everyone can see you.

Bayon Camp
The girls are immediately bonding over braiding palm fronds.

Keith is shocked to be there, but he's happy. Keith, Jeremy, Joe and Andrew work on building the shelter.

Jeremy immediately hooks up with his old firefighter buddy, Keith. He wants to get Tasha because she's a strong female. He also likes Savage. Jeremy said his #1 would be Joe because he would be a great shield. I sure hope Jeremy doesn't make as many alliances as he did last season.

Savage shared with Joe that his daughters have the biggest crush on him, and said that he was "perfect". Yes, yes he is.

What is Fischbach doing? He's just sitting there watching the men be manly men, and he looks really scared right now! He is so out of place. Coming into this, he said he hoped to work with girls because he thought he would fit better with them. However, this group of girls doesn't really seem like his type of people either. He might just be the odd man out.

Fishbach scampers off by himself to look for wood, and also look for an idol. He walks into a very gross swamp because he thought it was the perfect place for one. He hopes that no one thinks anything of him going off by himself, but he realizes he probably just made himself an even bigger target.

Back at camp, Joe makes a rockin' fire. Way to go, Joe!

Joe decides to do some yoga. Keith is baffled...99% of Americans just get up and go to work (he thinks). He's not into this weird body contorting. Tasha joins in, and she can't stop looking at Joe's body. Yeah, I would have that problem, too. They called in "Joega"...lol! Kimmi and Fishbach also attempt to join in. Vytas, who is also a yoga instructor, tries to help Shirin with some poses to get ready for the challenge. Keley thinks he was flirting and that annoyed her, so she wants him out. Vytas tried to approach Abi, but it was clear that she doesn't like him...like really clear. Vytas thinks she would be an easy target that everyone in the camp would be OK with, because she annoys everyone.

Immunity Challenge
Challenge: "Quest for Fire" was the first challenge ever on Season 1!!! They will swim to a raft that carries a pot of fire. they will swim the raft and take torches to light a series of other torches in the water. Then use a long pole
Reward: fire-making kit

It is neck and neck at the first torch. Keith got his torch wet after the 2nd torch, and Ta Keo gets a big lead and are done with their 5th torch!

Ta Keo is now out of the water with their raft. Bayon is really struggling...why don't they get someone to take Keith's spot? He's killing them!

Kelley Wentworth realizes she might have missed her chance to get the idol. However, in the midst of everyone so focused on the 2 making the poles and trying to get the keys, she slowly moves backwards and bends down to the upright and snatches the idol! No one saw a thing! Wow, nicely done!

Kelly gets the sticks and rope to make her pole to get the key. Joe is making the pole for Bayon. He is making up a lot of time! Kelly tries, but her pole is way too short. Joe tries, and his pole looks long enough and it looks pretty sturdy. He wobbles, but he's just about got it...so close! Kelly is now attempting again and she is close. Joe's is just on and around the key and just barely has it. Now he gives it a big whip over the barricade, and they've got it! So now I'm worried that Joe is falling into the same problem he had on his season: he's a beast in challenges! It's just not in him to not go all out, 100%.

Spencer takes over for Kelly on Ta Keo, but Jeremy opens the door and Bayon wins immunity! Kelly Wiglesworth feels responsible for the loss because they had a big lead.

Jeff then announces that they are going to Tribal Council, NOW! Whoa!!!! They have no chance to talk and make a plan! This is nuts!!!

Tribal Council
Abi said this experience is about growth. Yeah, she's got a ways to go yet I think. Vytas is hoping to beat Terry because his brother Aras did, and if he loses, Aras will never let him live it down.  Terry was shocked to see how quickly people were aligning, because he just wasn't used to that.  Woo says he has no idea what to do with the vote. Abi said he looked at the guys and she thinks there is a guys' alliance and she is worried. She doesn't want to go. Woo said it's all about people getting along...Abi is now more worried because this is what she specifically wanted to work on and redeem herself for.

Vytas is the other one who should be worried. I hope that they decide to go for the annoying and keep Vytas around to help win challenges.

The Vote

Noooooo! Oh my goodness! I can't believe he's the first one out!!! They kept the annoying Abi?! Seriously?! Oh man...

Vytas getting the boot aside, this was an excellent beginning to the season! So exciting!
