Dancing with the Stars, Ep. 21.4

Theme: TV Theme Songs
Guest Judge: Alfonso Ribeiro
4 judges = 40 points possible this week

Carlos & Witney - Jazz
"Thank You for Being a Friend" from The Golden Girls

Look at them so old! Haha!!! They look so different, you would never know it was them. It's just so cute! It's really weird to see "old" folks dancing like that! It reminds me of the routine that Val did a few seasons ago with the walkers.
Score: 31

Paula & Louis - Samba
Theme from Gilligan's Island

Of course she would be Lovey...but she really thought she should be Mary Ann (who happened to be in the audience)...um...no. The best thing about this dance was the visual effects! There was a storm and rain and lightning..it was really cool! They even had other dancers dressed up to play the parts of the rest of the characters. I didn't really see any Samba, and I was too in awe of the fun visual effects to even notice her dancing.
Score: 20

Tamar & Val - Tango
"Beautiful Mind" from Mad Men

Look at Val! He looks so spiffy! This was a very slinky and seductive Tango. She had great expression throughout and really pulled off a nice and proper tango. Yet another great routine that involves a table.
Score: 33

Alexa & Mark - Jazz
Theme from Breaking Bad

This is insane! They are dressed up just like the characters, who are getting ready to cook some crystal meth. I wondered why Mark posted a picture with the Breaking Bad van this week. Mark is so into this! This theme music isn't exactly something I can picture anyone dancing to, so this will be interesting. They start out with masks, and then they remove them...and Mark is bald! Just like Walter White! Holy crap! This is a very weird dance, but really cool.
Score: 36

Andy & Allison - Quickstep
Theme from American Bandstand

That is some crazy green suit. As always, he seems to be having so much fun. The choreography was challenging and I think he kept up really well. Good job, Andy!
Score: 29

Gary & Anna - Tango
Theme from The Adamms Family

What a transformation for Gary! I've never seen him with his hair slicked down like that! This is a good dance for him because he's so stiff, so this comes kind of naturally to him. I didn't notice a wide variety of steps in this dance, so it didn't look too difficult.
Score: 25

Alek & Lindsay - Tango
"Bad Things" from True Blood

This is such a different side of Alek! Lindsay worked hard to bring out the sexy, and it worked! he looked so confident and steamy. He nailed this dance so perfectly! I loved it! he even wore vampire teeth and took a bite out of Lindsay at the end...with blood!
Score: 33

Kim & Tony
If you didn't hear, Kim suffered a mini stroke this week because of a clot! Her left side went completely numb. That stroke then helped the doctors to find a previously undiagnosed heart defect that could have been life-threatening. Tony performs their dance with Jenna from the troupe, which was to the theme of I Dream of Jeannie. Tony made a really great Major Nelson!

Unfortunately, the rules state that if someone is unable to compete because of injury or illness, they have to withdraw from the competition. The bad thing is that she actually practiced and learned the dance, but the doctors did not clear her to fly because of the pressurized cabin.

My only question is that in other seasons they've been able to score a rehearsal dance. If she was in fact able to do some practice on the dance, why couldn't they score that?

Bindi & Derek - Quickstep
Theme from The Jeffersons

I feel so bad for them! They had a song and a dance prepared, and then they were told the song didn't clear. So, Derek had to come up with something else completely...they even made them change dance styles! And then, the song ended up clearing after all. Derek decided he had more work put into the 2nd dance, so they decided to go with that one, even though he liked his first dance better. I really would have loved to see what he would have done with the theme from The Jetsons. He said he had a big production planned. Oh well. This dance was really cute and fun, and of course she was awesome!
Score: 32

Nick & Sharna - Viennese Waltz
Theme from Downton Abbey

Nick is going to play Matthew (perfect) and Sharna is going to be Lady Mary. Love this! They did such a perfect job recreating the show and the characters. And who knew the theme song actually had words?! This dance was absolutely gorgeous!!! I don't usually get excited for a Viennese Waltz, but this dance was perfection in every single way possible. There better be a ton of 9s or even 10s on this one.
Score: 36

Hayes & Emma - Jive
Theme from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Now there's something I never thought I would see: a ninja turtle dancing a jive! The dance style is very weird for this theme. It's still really cool, and Emma did a great job putting in some karate-like moves in there. Really interesting!
Score: 30
