Dancing with the Stars, Ep. 21.2

The theme this week is "Hometown Glory" - an ode to the celebrity's hometowns. Not only are they all dancing Monday night, but Tuesday night too! There is also an elimination after the first dance.

Nick & Sharna - Jive
Tampa, FL - "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy", and he dedicated it to his favorite teacher

They were so in sync! All his lines were so sharp and crisp. It was a fun dance with a cool theme to match the song. He started out in pajamas and in a bed, but that quickly changed. Unfortunately, his shoes slipped and he went down a little bit. Because of the camera angle I wasn't quite sure if he meant to do that or not because he went right back into character and the dance. The pajamas and shoes kind of threw off his head a little I think, so I agree with the judges. But the props and slip aside, I thought the actual dance he did well and I thought he nailed the style.
Score: 21

Paula & Louis - Rumba
Savannah, GA - "Midnight Train to Georgia"

She actually looked really pretty in this dance. I was a little bit worried about her doing a pasionate Rumba. For the most part, it was pretty tame, but she actually put her leg up on him, which really surprised me. Her heels were too big, and she lost her balance. If he wasn't holding her, she would have surely gone down because he let her go for a spin and he just kept spinning until he grabbed her. It was better than last week, but obviously, she still has a lot of work to do.
Score: 19

Hayes & Emma - Foxtrot
Mooresville, NC - "This is How We Roll"; this song reminds him of his mom, and let's just say at the end of this, everyone was in tears! His love and connection with his mom is so sweet!

OK, I think the Foxtrot and country music are a complete oxymoron! This was so weird! He rides out on a motorcycle, there's a slow, twangy country song playing, and they are dancing to a proper ballroom Foxtrot. Just weird! He danced it very well, and it was impressive. But wow, that was such a weird combination.
Score: 22

Chaka & Keo - Foxtrot
Chicago, IL - "Chicago"

She again missed some steps and movements. She lagged behind Keo and was just trying to mimic what he was doing. Some of the time, she looked like she was just walking, versus dancing. She's still got a lot of work to do.
Score: 15

Andy & Allison - Jive
New York, NY - "Only the Good Die Young"

This was a fun, and very fast-paced Jive. He did so well! He looked like he was having a blast. I think he nailed the kicks and flicks, and he just seemed to enjoy the dance so much, which made it really fun to watch. The crowd obviously liked it a lot too. I don't know what it is about him, but I just really want to see him do well, and he just makes me smile. I can't believe the judges said it was a mess and he was off time? I didn't see that at all!
Score: 21

Kim & Tony - Quickstep
Atlanta, GA (even though she was born in Connecticut)

Funny that she should get the fastest dance of them all, when last week she seemed to move at a snail's pace. Luckily she actually found some speed and movement, and she looked like a completely different dancer. Like Tom said, she looked like she was having more fun this week. It couldn't have been more different than last week.
Score: 19

Alek & Lindsay - Jazz
Sacramento, CA - "Don't Stop Believin'"

This was such a cute dance! I loved the dance, and I like the song, but they don't seem to go together very well. And the song just seemed to stop out of nowhere. Kind of strange, but overall, he danced it well, and he's just so likable.
Score: 23

Alexa & Mark - Salsa
Ocala, FL

Whoa, look at her! She really does look like a leopard in the jungle. She really killed it this week! She wasn't kidding when she said the Salsa was in her blood because of her Colombian heritage. She really came into her own this week. Last week was good, but she took it up a notch with this dance. She had a great connection with Mark.
Score: 24

Victor & Karina - Jive
Hidalgo, Mexico - "La Bamba"

Right from the very beginning, I just can't stop lauging! Another very interesting song choice/dance style combo. He was dressed as a mariachi and doing the Jive...it was just so funny! He is hilarious! I don't know how much Jive there was in that...I was too distracted.
Score: 17

Tamar & Val - Cha Cha
Severn, MD - "We Are Family"

I really liked this dance. I think she did a nice job. She is proving to be a lot better than I thought she would be. It was very clean, and fun. It was a little on the boring side, but it was still good.
Score: 24

Gary & Ana - Foxtrot
Tulsa, OK - "Wouldn't It Be Nice"

His over-the-top facial expressions during the dance are hilaroius. He sure lookslike he's having fun. Let's be honest, the choreography is not that difficult, so it makes him look better than he really is. It wasn't great, but it wasn't terrible.
Score: 18

Carlos & Witney - Foxtrot
Columbia, MO - "Home"

I do not like Michael Buble's "Home" as a country song! He was so smooth and suave in this dance. He looked like a proper gentleman. It seemed like this dance was only 20 seconds long...I wanted to see more. This was really good.
Score: 24

Bindi & Derek - Tango
Buderim, Queensland, Australia - "You Shook Me All Night Long"

Look at little Bindi! She loves heavy metal! That's hilarious! This is a new one for Derek, I don't think I've ever heard him dance to anything like this before. She absolutely rocked it in every possible way. She is awesome and so electric! That is why people are going to keep voting to keep her around. Amazing!
Score: 25

Results

In Jeopardy: Chaka & Keo, Gary & Ana
Going Home: Chaka & Keo

Yes! Sorry Chaka, but you just didn't have a chance with this cast (or any cast for that matter). I feel sorry for Keo, that they can't give him any better partners to last more than a couple weeks on the show. I'm definitely OK with this elimination. I don't quite understand why all the of the news articles that I've seen about this episode (since I'm watching it a day late) said that this was a "shocking" elimination, or a "crushing" loss. I was really getting worried that it was someone like Bindi or Nick the way these article headlines were written. There was nothing shocking, surprising, or crushing about Chaka getting eliminated. Who are they kidding?
