The Bachelorette, Ep. 11.11: Finale & After the Final Rose

Let's just get this over with, and watch Nick completely get blindsided for the 2nd time in a row!

Kaitlyn with her Family
Kaitlyn warns her family that her final 2 hate each other. She admits that she messed up and it involved her final 2. She then said that Nick was one of the final 2 and her mom couldn't believe it. Kaitlyn said she has to forget what she thinks about Nick from Andi's season and she didn't know if she could.

Nick - Family Meeting
Kaitlyn told Nick that she told her family about going too far with him in Dublin. He couldn't believe that she told them that. He's got a lot of room to talk...

Her mom's first question to Nick was "Why are you here?". Starting off with the tough ones! He said he could think of a lot of reasons why he shouldn't do it, but he didn't want her to be with someone else. He said last time he went on the show to see if he could find love, but this time he came for Kaitlyn. He told her that she could send him home at any point.

Kaitlyn's mom talked to him alone and she was honest and told him that watching him last season, she thought he was possessive, jealous and even arrogant. He said he didn't come for a second chance on the show, he came specifically for him and he's not surprised to be in the final 2. He said he was in love with Kaitlyn and if she would have him that he would be with her forever. He started crying, her mom started crying. He asked if she would be OK with that and she said before she met him she wouldn't have been. But, now that she's met him, if he makes Kaitlyn happy that would make her happy. Him being emotional showed a completely different side of him for her and she admitted she was wrong to judge him before meeting him.

Nick then talked to Kaitlyn's dad and he shared all of the things he loved about Kaitlyn and he said that he fully expected to propose and was hoping to have his blessing. Her dad said he gets a good feeling about him and he gave him his blessing.

Nick feels confident, but he doesn't know what her relationship is with Shawn. He said it's hard to imagine her having a connection with him like what he has with her.

Shawn - Family Meeting

She shared with her family about having to tell Shawn about what she did with Nick. Her mom said it sounds like Shawn might be a really jealous type of person and that worried her.

Shawn came bearing gifts and even brought gifts for Kaitlyn's sister's two kids. That earned some major brownie points. He gave her mom goosebumps when he shared the story of how his sister told him to watch the show last season because she thought he would like her. He said when she got sent home, he took a picture of his TV screen, put a heart around it and sent it to his friends saying he was coming for her.

Her mom couldn't wait to ask Shawn how he really feels about the Kaitlyn-Nick situation and if he can really get past what happened. She told Shawn that she was worried about the jealousy thing in the outside world because Kaitlyn has a big, outgoing personality. He said it was hard for him because he had really strong feelings for her. He said he understands that in this process that they weren't in an exclusive relationship. He knows that on the outside, and they are in an exclusive relationship that he knows he wouldn't have to worry about that. Good answer, Shawn! He said if they can get through something like this, they can get through anything. Another good answer! His mom was impressed by his answers and his willingness to continue to express his feelings for her even after the Nick thing, and how that has even made them stronger.

Kaitlyn's sister said that she is Team Shawn. Apparently she liked Nick on his season, but it only took meeting Shawn to change her mind. She said it's the way Kaitlyn is around Shawn that made the difference. She said it was obvious that she had a physical connection with Nick, but it looks deeper with Shawn.

Shawn told her dad that he didn't realize how happy he could be until he met Kaitlyn. He said he would be proud to call her him his wife. He brought Kaitlyn's mom into the conversation and wanted to ask both of them for their blessing. He said he's never been so sure of anything in his life and he is planning to propose. Her mom gave him 1000% yes. Her dad was very willing to give his blessing as well.

Nick - Final Date
Blah blah blah...he's in love, he loved her family, they loved him. She has a strong connection with him...it's undeniable. She said if Shawn wasn't there it would make things so much easier.

Nick said he feels completely different at this stage than he did the last time with Andi...again another slam on poor Andi.

He told her he had something for her in his bedroom...she thought he was joking. I know exactly what she was thinking. His gift was a picture of the with a nice card inserted into a fancy book. She couldn't stop oogling over the gift.

She said when she looks at him she knows she's in love.

Shawn - Final Date
She is looking for clarity to make her final decision.

Shawn hopes this isn't their last date and he's hopeful about their future. She asked if he was wearing sunscreen, he said "yes, thanks Mom". Then there was a lot of awkward pauses and non-conversation...not sure what that's all about. She wants to know what's going on in her head, he wants to know what's going on in his head. They're obviously trying to throw us off to make us think that she chooses Nick.

Shawn has a lot of questions and if he doesn't get answers he's not going to get down on one knee.

They finally had a good conversation. It was kind of serious, but it also showed a funnier side of Shawn that we haven't really seen much of this season.

Shawn also had a gift for her...it was a jar of things from each of their dates.

Kaitlyn's Final Decision
Both guys are hopeful and are planning to propose, but are also preparing themselves for the worst.

Nick shows up first, so you know what's about to happen. Always the bridesmaid, never the bride for poor Nick. Wah wah. Sorry, not sorry.

Again, why can't the lead take the lead in this situation instead of letting the dumpee ramble on and on all nervously, only to be rejected. He should have just stopped talking when he looked at her face, because her sad face said it all. This is not the happy face of someone who's going to say yes to your proposal. It's the sad face of someone who wishes you weren't saying all these nice things about her because she picked the other guy.  He got all emotional and said he wasn't ready to let her go and wanted to spend the rest of his life with her if she would have him. Luckily, just as he was about to bend down, she grabbed his hands and he said "no?". That's right buddy, nope, you're not the one, and I'm betting you wish she would have told you before the ceremony and before you picked out a ring like Andi did. Andi wasn't so bad after all was she? All she could say was "Oh my god, I'm sorry" as she couldn't even look at him. She said the only explanation she has is that her heart is with someone else. He cut her off and said "OK". She said she needed every second that they spent together to make the decision. He said he wasn't trying to be short and he said there wasn't anything she could say to make him less confused. I think he's really just upset and confused with himself that he let this happen to him again. She said she doesn't regret anything they had together because it was real to her in the moment. He said he can believe all that but he doesn't need to hear it over and over again because she told him the same things this whole time. He said she took things from him and then he really started getting upset. He said if all the things they had meant the same to her as they did to him things would be different. She tried to say that it was all real and meant something to her, but he kept saying that it couldn't have. He hopes that she doesn't have any regrets and that it works out for her. He said she doesn't love him, as if he's trying to convince her of that, when it should be the other way around.  And with that, he gave her a weak hug and got in the limo. He took the ring box and threw it across the car, then he took off the ring that he got with Kaitlyn in Ireland, took it off and chucked it as well. He did say one thing that I can agree with him on an that was "I'm the world's biggest joke".

Shawn finally arrives. She looks happy. He told her they've had ups and downs but they've brought them here. Ever since he got out of the limo and she grabbed his hands, he's felt something that he's never felt before. He's so happy and she feels the same. She said she had the same feelings when he got out of the limo. She was able to tell him that he doesn't want him to question what they have because she is completely his and she will always be faithful to him. She told him that she loves him with all of her heart and she can't wait to make a lifetime of memories with him. She said he was the one and always will be. He got down on one knee and proposed, and of course, she said yes!

After the Final Rose

Update: Kaitlyn is all giddy like a school girl and they both seem like they are in love as ever.

Nick
Of course, he was blindsided...again. This is going to be just like last time. At least this time, if he brings up sex with Kaitlyn, it won't be the first time we're hearing about it like when he did it to Andi. And yep, there it is. He talked about his relationship with Kaitlyn that started before the show. He continued to be a little shady as to how much or how long they talked on the phone. One thing he did say though was that on their first date, they already had gotten to know each other and their physical game was playing catch-up because he felt like they knew each other really well already.

Nick and Shawn
He regrets what happened with Shawn and admitted that they both weren't the best versions of themselves and they made an uncomfortable situation even worse. Chris basically told Nick that he was going to have to talk to Shawn whether he wanted to or not. He thought they needed to talk, I think he just thinks they should talk because it will make for good TV. Nick made the first move to break the ice and reintroduced himself to Shawn. Chris asked if Shawn could finally not refer to Nick as "the other guy". Chris asked what it was that gave Shawn a bad feeling about Nick. He couldn't really say what it was but once he had that feeling, he just stayed away from him. Nick's frustration was that Shawn's feelings were based on Nick's reputation from the last season. Shawn said he did give him the benefit of the doubt but he was kind of going off other things he was hearing about him in the house. Chris asked if Shawn was jealous of Nick. He said he was never jealous of anyone in particular because he never doubted his connection with Kaitlyn.

Shawn brought up that one of the things that bothered him and the other guys was how much Nick talked in depth about their dates. He said he and the other guys had kind of a deal that they wouldn't go into detail about dates other than just asking how things went. Nick said he remembers trying to be very careful about what he said about his Dublin date and also wanting to be truthful. They both agreed that things got out of hand and the show turned into the Nick vs. Shawn thing and there were some good things that weren't shown because they aired their confrontations instead. In the end, these guys will never be BFFs, but maybe, just maybe, they don't quite hate each other as much as they did before.

Nick and Kaitlyn
Not a whole lot new was talked about here, they basically just rehashed what was said on the final night. At least Nick wasn't so bitter this time around. You would think he would be more bitter this time since he claims to have had much stronger feelings for Kaitlyn than he did for Andi.

Kaitlyn wondered if she should go to Nick the morning before the ceremony and let him know or if it would hurt just as bad. He said if she knew even before he got out of the limo, she shouldn't have let him say all the things he said to her. He said his words were meant for someone else. He even paused and she let him continue. He didn't understand what she was thinking and how she could have thought that was the best way to break his heart. He asked if after looking back if she thinks she should have done it a different way and she said "probably, yeah". He didn't really care for that answer. He said he made it clear to her that he wasn't there for the show and that at the first moment she knew it wasn't going to be him that she should just send him home. She was worried about this happening to him again and he said he didn't care about that. He didn't understand why she thought it would be better for him to pick out a ring, write a big speech and then deliver the WHOLE speech was a better way to do it. I definitely can't argue with him on that. In her defense, the show probably just made her do it that way for better TV. Sorry buddy, you know what you signed up for. He knows she didn't have bad intentions but he just wishes she would have given a little more consideration to what they had and how it would affect him because he won't have that moment back.

Final Wrap-Up
They are so happy to be able to talk about their relationship. Shawn is happy to be able to tell people he is with her and he can finally stick up for her with all of the cyberbullying because she doesn't deserve it.

And with that, it's all over and the spoilers were right. Up next, Bachelor in Paradise starts this Sunday. It promises to be full of drama and tears...should be good!
