Dancing With The Stars, Ep. 19.13 & 19.4 Finale

The Final Week!

Round 1: Judges' Picks
The judges pick a dance that they have done before that they want to see them improve on.

Bethany & Derek - Jive (Bruno's Pick)
Such a bummer that the set didn't cooperate, and that threw off their timing a little bit. That said, it was still done very well.
Score: 36

Sadie & Mark - Samba (Len's Pick)
This was, I think, my favorite of their dances...the outfits, the song, Mark's beard...everything about it. I think they also had some timing issues that I don't think they had the first time around. But I don't care, because this dance is just too fun and too cool. I love to watch her strut her stuff. And Mark split his pants! LOL!
Score: 38

Janel & Val - Samba (Julianne's Pick)
I'm so glad her rib injury didn't seem to hinder her at all. I hate when people get injured because it puts them at an unfair advantage. She came out like a trooper, and gave an amazing performance. I think she did a great job. I don't really even remember this one the first time around to compare this to, but I think it was so well done.
Score: 37

Alfonso & Witney - Jive (Carrie Ann's Pick)
You would never ever know that he was so injured by watching him. He moves so quick and effortlessly. Last week I could tell a little bit...but not this week! This was so good on week 1, but I think if it's possible, this was even better. Way to go Alfonso!
Score: 40

Round 2: Freestyle

Always the best round...so excited to see what these amazing pros have put together this season!

Bethany & Derek
Derek's set and staging are always so breathtaking! It adds so much to the dance. This dance just shows how far Bethany has come since the beginning. This dance was so powerful. The visuals created by the other dancers was really cool. Even with so many other dancers, she still stood out. It didn't have a big "wow" moment like so many of his dances (which was a little disappointing), but it was still really good.
Score: 40

Sadie & Mark
Mark=genius. A SuperMario themed dance...so cool! Even done to the theme song of the game...wow. Everything down to the tunnels and mushrooms...lol! The jumps to "double up"...it never ends! It was so cute, and I love the unexpected props. The only thing lacking for me was that there wasn't a whole lot of technical moves. The actual dancing, was lacking, but the originality and the creativity was entertaining beyond belief.
Score: 40

Janel & Val
Val followed in Maks' footsteps from some previous freestyles (and I think, if I'm not mistaken, his freestyle with Danica as well). Instead of going all-out, balls to the walls, with crazy, insane sets and choreography, he opted for a quiet Rumba/Contemporary piece. I'm sorry Val, but this type of freestyle doe not win you Mirrorball Trophys. It just doesn't. It never has, and I don't think it ever will. The dance is so beautiful, and you can't deny how incredible Janel is. The fall from the stage, the amazing lifts, it was all so powerful...and then that kiss!!! They have amazing chemistry, and the dance is so great...it just unfortunately isn't what gets people to vote for the winner.
Score: 40

Alfonso & Witney
You know what we all want to see...The Carlton! And the "jump on it"! This dance seriously had EVERYTHING! There was swing, there was tap, there was fosse, there was the "jump on it" move from Fresh Prince...seriously everything! He literally had the most dance moves of all the freestyles, and it was very, very tough choreography. The epitome of a freestyle. And it was fun to watch! Incredible! I like what Len said "it was an all you can eat buffet!" Kudos for Witney in her first trip to the finals. She didn't buckle under the pressure and put together an unforgettable routine!
Score: 40

Results
Going Home: Bethany & Derek
At this point, anyone going home is sad. They all deserve to be there, and there could be a case made for any single one of them to win. That so rarely happens in a finale...they were all THAT GOOD!

Round 3: 24-Hour Fusion
2 dance styles, 24 hours to choreograph and practice

Sadie & Mark - Quickstep/Samba
I LOVE that Mark incorporated both dances seamlessly...he didn't just do the 1st half of the dance in one style, and then the other half the other dance style. He put both together, and it worked so well! These are the fusions I love the best, because they are TRUE FUSIONS! Absolutely awesome, and you wouldn't know they only had 24 hours to put it all together.
Score: 40 (118 points total)

Janel & Val - Foxtrot/Paso Doble
Another great fusion! What a great routine! I loved everything about this dance. I am so sad that this is the last time we get to watch these 2 dance together!
Score: 40 (117 points total)

Alfonso & Witney - ChaCha/Argentine Tango
Thank you Witney, for also following the trend and putting together an incredible fusion! This season, no one fell into the trap of 1/2 and 1/2 dancing...both styles were fused together, and it was beautiful! What a great final dance! Truly a champion, through and through.
Score: 40 (120 points total...3 perfect scores!)

Final Results
3rd Place: Janel & Val
2nd Place: Sadie & Mark
WINNER: ALFONSO & WITNEY!!

I'm so incredibly happy for Alfonso! It really was his to lose from the very first week. But, Sadie, Janel, and Bethany were all equally amazing. It really could have been anyone's game. For once, I would have been happy with any of the final 4 winning. This has been such a great season, and I've loved every minute of it! I can't wait for next season...Season 20 and the 10 year anniversary!
