American Idol, Ep. 13.8

Tonight we see the fallout from the beginning of the Group Rounds last night. Who will pull it together, who will choke? Can't wait to find out!

At least 1/2 will be going home in this round! Whoa!

David, Tony and Sarina start it off with some awesome harmony and originality at the end of the song. Good for them. All 3 have been here before, and David and Sarina move on, while Tony goes home. Props to Tony for politely wanting to know why he got let go, and props to the judges for actually giving an answer, and some criticism and something to work on. Very well done on both parts there, it's nice to see.

This is the one I've been waiting to see: Backstreet Cowboys -- Dexter, Casey and Ben. They sing the Backstreet Boys' "I Want It That Way". Individually, they weren't as strong as they normally are. I did like their harmonies though. I think these guys could give Restless Road from X Factor a run for their money! Not surprisingly, they all make it through!

Briana, Mk and a 3rd someone did an amazing job with Lorde's "Royals". It was like, seriously, really good, and they all went through.

Oh, and then there's my Sperncer, performing with 2 girls, singing Gavin DeGraw's "Best I Ever Had". He knew the song, they didn't. He didn't want to practice as much as they did. The girls messed up, the whole thing was a mess.Uh oh. J. Lo said based on the performance, none of them would make it. But, based on previous performances, Spencer and Megan go through. I would have guessed that Alyssa would have made it through over Megan. That was a surprise.

Oh no! Adam Roth was cut! Along with another one I liked, Keith London. Another surprise, Tiquila quits because her heart is in Gospel. But didn't she say in the auditions that she didn't care what the church thought about her singing secular music? Oh well, good for her for knowing herself and what she believes in. However, she could have been the next Mandisa or Colton Dixon. Who knows?

This is an interesting group: Caleb, Tyler, Matthew, CJ . Another really great performance of "Too Close". They each did a great job individually and as a group. It was a really nice performance. Caleb and CJ make it through, while Tyler and Matthew go home. I thought Tyler did a really good job.

Munfarid, Sikenya, Jena, and Allie; aka "Clarity". Other than Sikenya's sickness, the whole performance was pretty good. They talk about Sikenya being brave, yada yada yada. I think she was a baby about it. She left her group hanging most of the day, decided at the last minute. Then she brings it up before they sing, and during the song, she looks like she wanted to quit. She did keep going, but I wasn't impressed. Allie is the only one to go home.

Savion, makes it through, but John Fox in his group did not. I'm bummed! I liked John. I thought the group's performance of Lorde's "Royals" was really good. They had some amazing harmonies.

And then there's the "diva" group. Jessica Meuse was trouble in her original group and she didn't get along with this one. Not to mention the other girls in this group and the stage mom...oh my. Nica, Stephanie and Cara were the other 3. I wasn't impressed by their performance at all. Jessica really messed up the words. They would be wise to dump her. She is nothing but excuses and and whining and complaining. She has a good voice, but she has a lot of baggage. Stephanie (the stage mom's daughter) goes home and the other 3 make it through.

Love's Angels: Terrica, Carmen and Emmanuel. Not one of them looked like they really wanted to be there. It was really boring and slow. I'm not a fan of any of them from before or now. Terrica was another one who had issues and went missing the night before. If the judges knew that, that would be reason enough to send her home. Emmanuel, with his lisp, is the only one to make it through.

The final diva group, "Loud and Fierce",and the last group of the day: Christina, Olivia, Queen, Malaya. I know the judges loved this performance, but it all seemed really, really forced. It was OK, but I wasn't blown away by any of them. They all 4 made it through.

We're now down to 77 singers.
