The Bachelorette, Ep. 9.7

The guys and Des are in Madeira, Spain

BFFs Come to Visit
Catherine, Lesley and Jackie from last season come to give Des some support and advice. They don't meet the guys, but they do spy on them from afar with binoculars. That's not creepy at all.

One-on-One Date: Brooks
For some reason, I just find Des and Brooks really boring together. RealitySteve tweeted "Holy snoozefest", and I would have to agree.

Cheesy quote #1 for the night: Des and Brooks are driving around and she said she is definitely on the road to falling in love with him. Cheesy quote #2: as they are sitting on the mountain and clouds start to envelope around them, she says "welcome to cloud 9."  And then, they shout "we're on cloud 9!" Oh my...

It's time for dinner, and is it just me, or does Brooks look really sleepy and like he really didn't try too hard to look good for their date? He looks kind of gross if you ask me, and sort of looks like he's still doped up on whatever medication they gave him after he broke his finger.

And, oh wow...it's fireworks...so original.

One-on-One Date: Chris

They go sailing, which is definitely more exciting than just driving around. They are headed to a deserted island. I think he is such a better match for her than Brooks is. Their conversation always seems easier and not so forced.

He surprised her with an idea to write a poem together and put the message in a bottle. She of course loved the idea.

At dinner, he gets unusually nervous, but it's because he wants to tell her that he loves her. It's actually really cute. But, I gotta say, all the poetry is just a little bit too much now and way too predictable (even though, he is a really good poet).

One-on-One Date: Michael
It only took her til the final 5 to give him a one-on-one. That should probably tell him something.

They go around the town and do some shopping and eating. Then they ride some weird looking couch on wheels down the street with 2 guys pushing them. That might be the weirdest thing ever...except maybe Des' laugh as they are going down the hill.

He shared a lot about his feelings during dinner and showed a different side of him. It is a little surprising that he says he thinks he's falling in love with her, and this is technically their first date.

Two-on-One Date: Zak and Drew
This two-on-one has a rose, but the one who doesn't get it, doesn't go home. With Drew and Zak, it's nice to see two guys who can actually get along, have some fun, and be respectful of each other, all while both falling for the girl they are on the same date with. Totally refreshing...way to go guys.

They get to drive some little go carts. First they race with Des, and of course she wins. Then they race each other to win Des' heart. OK, maybe not, but they were taking it pretty seriously. Neither one of them wanted to be the loser. And Zak pretty much killed Drew...wasn't even close.

Oh, holy crap! Cheesy quote #3: Des made a toast to the guys "here's to racing for my heart". Wow...did I totally call that one or what?!

Zak presents Des with some drawings (because of their last one-on-one date). First drawing...just his abs. The rest of the drawings represented the places they have visited and things they've done together. That was actually kind of a good idea.

Drew talks about his sister who is severely mentally handicapped and how excited he is for Des to meet her. And then he tells her that he is falling in love with her.

Zak on the other hand, doesn't think he needs to tell Des for her to know how he feels. They both think they will get the rose and will be surprised if they don't get it. And the rose goes to: Drew.

Sitdown Chat with Chris (Harrison, not Des' Chris)
Summary: she's falling in love with Brooks and Chris. Chris said he loves her Brooks has not. It's complicated. Drew is the best looking guy she has ever met. No mention of Zak or Michael, so it's pretty easy to tell where the guys are ranked.

Rose Ceremony
Receive Roses: Brooks, Chris, Zak and Drew who got a rose on his date
Going Home: Michael

No surprise there, except for Michael. When his name wasn't called he just stared...I don't think he blinked once. Boy did he lay it on thick in his goodbye. He said he was heartbroken and that no one is going to match up to her. He was ready to spend the rest of his life with her. Funny we didn't see this kind of emotion from him up until now. It didn't really seem like he thought that their connection was that close before, and then all of a sudden, he's like madly in love with her. Seems a bit strange.

Next week, it's the hometown dates. I wonder what crazy families we will meet!
