The Bachelorette, Ep. 11.2

The Britt Story
Britt's devastated that she didn't get picked. She has a tearful call to her mom to tell her that she is coming home. Not long after, there is a knock at her door, and it is Brady (big surprise!). Suddenly she's not so sad anymore.

Group Date #1: Boxing Match
Ben H, Ben Z, Corey, Daniel, Jared, Justin, Kupah, Tanner

Kaitlyn wants to see who has heart and who can fight for her and protect her. The guys will battle (literally) for Kaitlyn. Laila Ali will be giving them some pointers.

Who thinks there will be some injuries? Yeah, it's pretty much inevitable. The only questions will be: who will get hurt, and how badly.

Most of the guys make an effort to talk to Kaitlyn at some point during their practice. Everyone except for Kupah that is. He is taking the boxing really seriously, and Kaitlyn forgot he was even on the date because she hadn't talked to him yet.

Round 1:

Ben Z vs. Daniel -- WINNER: Ben Z
Ben H vs. Jared -- WINNER: Jared
Kupah vs. Tanner -- WINNER: Kupah
Corey vs. Justin -- WINNER: Corey (this fight not shown)

Round 2:
Ben Z vs. Corey -- WINNER: Ben Z
Jared vs. Kupah -- WINNER: Kupah (probably the most surprising upset)

Round 3:
Ben Z vs. Jared -- WINNER: Ben Z
Ben gets in a big shot and Jared collapses to the ground, bracing himself on the ropes. He eventually gets checked out and they suggested he go to the hospital to be looked at more closely. That means Jared has to miss out on the rest of the evening.

Kaitlyn feels a connection with Ben Z. They shared a common interest for food and cooking. That led him to sharing a story about his mom and as a teenager, losing her to cancer. Weird transition, but at least he is opening up.

While talking to one of the guys, she is mysteriously handed a note from someone. She looked very surprised and had no clue what was happening. She told the guy that she had to go deal with whatever it was and that she would be back. The note said to meet her outside because they "needed to talk to her". When she went outside, she found Jared. He said the doctors told him to take it easy and that he should go home and not participate in the rest of the date...but they made an exception for him to get to see Kaitlyn first. They went for a walk on the Walk of Fame and shared a kiss.

Group Date Rose: Ben Z

So, out of the guys on this date, my favorites are still Ben H, Ben Z, and Jared. I just really wish that Jared would do some grooming with his facial hair. He's got such a weird thing going on. He's got a very chiseled jaw line and dimples, and then his facial hair is like really patchy. If he would shave the top part, it would look so much better. It looks like he just finished 39 days on Survivor, and he's one of those guys who just isn't able to grow a full beard and it's just really patchy. Am I the only one who sees this?

1-on-1 Date: Clint
She picked him for the 1-on-1 date because of the picture he drew of Chris Harrison on the triceratops that he gave to her on the first night. They are going to be doing underwater photo shoot.

Their pictures turned out really cool, and they shared their first kiss...underwater...and then again above water.

I have to say that I haven't been super impressed with Clint up to this point, but he kind of grew on me during this date.

Clint got the date rose and she said it might be the best first date she's ever had.

Group Date #2: Stand-up Comedy
Chris, Ian, JJ, Joe, Jonathan, Joshua, Tony

Humor is important to Kaitlyn. Comedian Amy Schumer (from Last Comic Standing and her own comedy show) is hosting and her along with some other female comedians will be helping them with their material...and they need a LOT of help!

They not only have to perform in front of each other, but they are performing in front of a crowd.

Ian -- froze, couldn't handle the mic. His jokes were about his similar looks to the Old Spice guy. He also threw in a joke about sweating more than Juan Pablo on the Women Tell All episode.

Joshua -- joked about being a welder and showed off his whistling skills, and said that's not all he can do with his tongue.

Jonathan -- his set must have been really dull because the only thing they showed him saying was "how is everybody doing tonight, are you having a good time".

Chris -- was really nervous, but it worked for him. He said the 4 mentors were terrified because he had nothing and the only advice they had was to unbutton his shirt. Totally funny on his delivery, and so cute! Amy loved his toothpaste colored shirt.

Tony -- he said he thought he had been training for this his whole life (really?). He talked about being happy to be there and then began to ramble about his emotions and being able to explore the lighter side of himself. He basically just gave a speech in a very monotone voice. At one point, he said he drank too much. The audience was laughing, but only because of how bad it was.

JJ -- he thanked the audience for sticking around after Tony's set and wondered if anyone booked an appointment with their therapist.

Joe -- revealed a startling revelation, that he is from Kentucky...if you couldn't tell from his accent.

All in all, what we saw was pretty tame. In other seasons, the guys have sometimes gotten a little carried away and made fun of each other. Kaitlyn said this date was exactly what she wanted and it was the "best date ever"!

The evening part of the date...

Joshua said he was a "love virgin" and has never been in love before. He talked about only having his dogs. Meanwhile, Tony continued to befuddle and weird-out the rest of the guys. All of their eyes just start to glaze over every time he talks.

Tony admitted that he had a connection with Britt and that Kaitlyn terrified him. On their date, he realized that he also has a connection with her. And, as he talks...her eyes start to glaze over, as she fake smiles and just nods, wondering if he's ever going to stop talking.

JJ gets emotional talking about "losing" his daughter as she will be going to pre-school. To me, it all seems like an act. Not seeing the way he talks normally, I might think it's genuine. But he just talks a lot of game, and I just don't see him as that emotional type.

Kaitlyn proceeded to make out with JJ, and then Joe. Joe ended their kiss with an off-handed "well, I'll be..." (like Gomer Pyle), and Kaitlyn just thought that was hilarious.

Group Date Rose: JJ

So, this date just solidified how much I really don't like JJ. I like that Amy kind of put him in his place...even though I'm sure he wasn't even listening to her. I still really like Chris (aka "Cupcake")...he is so cute and funny. I really think he should have gotten the rose instead of JJ.

Cocktail Party
Of course, the "understanding" amongst the guys is that the 3 guys with roses will let all of the other guys have their time with Kaitlyn. Of course, JJ has no intention of playing nice, and says that it's his night to talk to Kaitlyn, too.

And...JJ is the FIRST one to pull her aside. All of the guys realize that he is only there for himself (well...isn't everyone?). But, at least the other guys are respectful. He is now public enemy #1. He even announced to the group when he entered the room, that he knows everyone hates him...but he's not sorry. He said he needed to remind her of what husband material is. Blech! He just couldn't believe how jealous the rest of the guys were. Really? Tony handles the whole thing so seriously...I mean, he's only told us 100 times that he's been preparing his whole life for this. He doesn't want someone like JJ ruining it for him.

Ian took his alone time to tell Kaitlyn about his really bad accident that broke both of his legs, arm, and dislocated his shoulder. He said that was a turning point in his life and he learned a lot from it.

Kupah said he doesn't want to be around any longer than he has to be if he's only going to fill the "minority quota" for the season. He said he hasn't gotten a chance to talk to her enough to know how she was feeling about him. He was kind of saying that she didn't make an effort to let him know where she sees him. She said that he didn't really put himself out there and he was shocked. She said on their group date, he was the only one who didn't come over and talk to her. She said he was too into the boxing and he said he really wasn't, and it really wasn't something he wanted to do. She said that he should have talked to her about it and she wouldn't have made him do it. He said he didn't come here to waste anyone's time, and he watched her last season and thought she was a real person. She told him that she actually felt a connection with him...until now, because she didn't realize that he was so skeptical of her. She said she picked him for the first group date because she really liked him and felt a connection right off the bat. Then the more he talked, the worse things got for him, and it was all downhill from there. And it ended with a fist bump. Yeah, that says it all buddy. She needed some time to think, and she overheard him talking to the guys about their conversation. He held nothing back and said that she wasn't even really looking at him when she was talking, and said some other stuff. That was it, and Kaitlyn came in and told him that he doesn't have a quiet voice and said she wanted to talk to him. She told him that she was going to have to let him go. He was so worked up, and he said it was ***** up and it wasn't fair. He said he didn't want to go home, and that she was pretty and sexy. She said she was more than that. She said this was more fair to him than making him go through the Rose Ceremony. Wow, that situation was kind of a first. It didn't even end there. The producers tried to ask him some questions and he just goes off on the camera guy. Kaitlyn could hear him from inside the house as he was kind of going nuts outside.

And, continuing with a trend they started last season, they leave us hanging.

...To be continued...
