Dancing with the Stars, Ep. 22.10 & 22.11 Finale

Sad news from the ballroom on finale night. Ginger injured her pelvis a few days ago. As of today, she still wasn't sure if she was going to be able to dance. She received x-rays and at 2 different exams they said her pelvis was too far forward and then too far back - it was moving all around! She was having a lot of spasms and was giving out on her. I feel so bad for her. That has to be so painful.

Tom says this finale is very close - all judges' scores and viewer votes there is only 3% between each of them.

Round 1: Redemption Dances

Ginger & Val - Contemporary
They have a lot of elements from many of their dances throughout the season. He is whipping her all around and I can only imagine how painful that has to be. She's got a smile and she's giving it her all. It was a gorgeous dance! She missed out on so much rehearsal time, and but it didn't really show at all.
Score: 28

Nyle & Peta - Quickstep
He got a lot of criticism on this dance the first time. I can't wait to see his improvement on this dance! Oh my...Nyle in a cowboy hat! Hot! I can already tell he's more in frame and a lot sharper. I think the Mask last time got him too excited and he overdid the steps. This looks amazing this time around! He seems so in control this time around...not so loosy-goosy and chaotic. That was so good, Nyle!
Score: 27

Paige & Mark - Salsa
This was the dance that Mark had to miss because he was injured. He is putting in the move that he injured himself on. Good luck, Mark - don't do it again! I absolutely love dances to this song. She is most definitely a fireball! Mark's legs are as crazy as ever. The choreography in this dance is ridiculously hard! and so fast! And that lift...incredible. That was so much fun!!! Very nice, Paige! She is so happy after that one. I'm so glad she got to do it with Mark.
Score: 29

Round 2: Freestyle

Ginger & Val
They are channeling Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers. Val is taking a risk by going very simple. We KNOW after watching 21 seasons how important the freestyle is and usually the bigger, the better. She was already the underdog, so I would be VERY surprised if this could put her over Nyle and Paige. It's basically a Broadway musical number. There were some set changes, a little bit of fake rain. It was cute...but NOT what most people want to see in a freestyle. Val - I'm very disappointed that you went this route. It is not going to be enough to help her. Now, maybe because of her back, it was the right way to go? We'll see.
Score: 30

Nyle & Peta
Earlier tonight on Facebook, Nyle posted about the song they are using for their freestyle. It's Disturbed's version of "Sound of Silence" (originally done by Simon & Garfunkel). He wants to really tell his story and the story of his deaf culture through this dance. He wants to show the struggles and hardships that deaf people have faced. He wrote a letter to the band, Disturbed, and told his story and how he wanted permission to use their song. They were so touched and gave their blessing. As it starts, I have goosebumps already. And my goosebumps are getting goosebumps! So moving and powerful! I'm going to be in tears by the end, I think. Whoa. No words needed. If you're going to do contemporary in the finale, it has to have a story and be powerful. This did just that.
Score: 30

Paige & Mark
Mark's fiance, BC Jean is going to be singing "Somewhere Over the Rainbow". I'm a little surprised that Mark didn't go big with this performance. He opted for the emotional story, similar to Nyle. We again are seeing a performance dealing with the bullying that she faced. I think this is the first time that all 3 freestyles were very subdued. We had 2 that were pretty much just contemporary. Not that there's anything wrong with that...just interesting. This was absolutely stunning. She is such a gorgeous girl with an inspiring story. So lovely!
Score: 30

Week 10 Leaderboard after 2 Rounds

Paige & Mark - 29 + 30 = 59
Ginger & Val - 28 + 30 = 58
Nyle & Peta - 27 + 30 = 57

Round 3: 24-Hour Fusion

Ginger & Val - Argentine Tango/Foxtrot
Argentine Tango was one of her strongest, so of course she killed it again. I like that both dances were mixed in throughout - always makes for the best fusions! Great final dance! It doesn't even matter that she messed up a little bit. Val called it "dancer's choice".
Score: 27

Nyle & Peta - Tango/Cha-Cha
I'm so sad this is their last dance! They look great. He's very in sync with her and right with the music. They just flew across the floor with such ease. Seemed to be perfection to me!
Score: 30

Paige & Mark - Jive/Salsa
Their goodbye was so emotional! Awe! I'm going to miss watching her dance. They seemed a bit out of sync at times, but it sure was exciting! Not quite as fast as I would have expected, but some lifts and that cartwheel again. It was nice, but it seemed to lack a little bit of oomph. And, happy 30th Mark!
Score: 30

WINNER: NYLE & PETA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I LOVE Paige and Mark, but I'm so happy for Nyle!!!! He won season 22 of America's Next Top Model and now he's won season 22 of Dancing with the Stars! So cool! Class act all the way! I'm sure he will go on to do great things and continue inspiring people along the way.
