The Bachelor, Ep. 20.3

Well hello there, Ben! --------------------------------------->
It's a great day because it's Monday, which means we get to see Ben! Yay! And it looks like we're in for a lot of drama tonight!

Let's get started!

We start with the girls in the house, and a couple girls are talking about Olivia and how deep down there's a mean girl inside her. She just knows how to put on a good show in front of the cameras.

1-on-1 Date: Lauren B - fly around Agoura Hills/Malibu on a plane
We haven't seen much of her since the first night. Ben said that she is someone who stood out to him the first night right out of the limo, but he doesn't really know her yet.

Ben drives her to an airport. She is used to flying because she's a flight attendant. But, they aren't flying in just any airplane, it's a single engine, open plane with a propeller on the front. Yeah, I would be pretty scared. It was rather annoying trying to listen to their conversation on the headsets that had so much feedback that they had to do a bunch of subtitles. Then there was some awkward kissing as they weren't aware of the mouthpieces on their headsets, so there was a lot of weird head tilts.

After the plane ride, they go for a walk out in the middle of nowhere. Then magically, a hot tub appears. OK, so this is now the 2nd time he has been in a hot tub with a girl that has been in a very weird and random place (first time was with Caila in the middle of the store). Romantic for them, being all alone in the wilderness, but super weird to see....them in a hot tub, in the middle of the open wilderness.

Later, she shared how she grew up and she wants to have kids of her own so she can give them a childhood like she had. They seemed to have a pretty easy conversation, but it didn't seem overly deep. He thinks she is pretty special and he wanted to share some personal things with her. He talked about his dad's health. His dad needed a triple bypass and he had to rush to the hospital to be with him and his mom. He said his mom was a mess and he saw something in his parents' love that he wanted to find for himself. She asked how his dad was and she said she would love to meet his family. And then she quickly heard what she just said and kind of backpedaled...hoping that she didn't just freak him out. It didn't freak him out, because he gave her the rose.

The date ended with him taking her to a barn where someone named Lucy Angel was singing (I have no idea who this is, and until I Googled "her", I didn't know that this was actually a trio). Ben said he was listening to the lyrics and he said Lauren was changing him. Yep, he's smitten.

Meanwhile, back at the house, Caila is having a little meltdown where she's crying and squeaking about falling for Ben and being afraid of having her heart broken if he's falling for other girls. Poor thing, every other breath was a high-pitched squeak.

Group Date: fun on the soccer field - a repeat of a date Juan Pablo. Joining them are Alex Mogan and Kelly O'Hara from the US Women's soccer team.

Ben's hoping to see how the girls work/play together and what they bring to the team.

We start out with a bunch of really awkward chest bumps of the ball...which looks REALLY painful, by the way! None of the girls have played before, and it's pretty obvious. After some really pointless "training" that didn't really benefit any of them, they are broken into 2 teams. The winning team goes with Ben to the after party at the Hotel Intercontinental.

Team Stars: Emily, Shushanna, Jennifer, Lauren H, Rachel, Amanda
Team Stripes: Jami, Haley, Olivia, Leah, Amber, Lace

The girls are all really competitive, but Olivia was pretty sure she was not going back to the mansion. The twins are ready for a "twin-off", as they ended up on different teams.

Stars score first, but Stripes ties it up and then takes the lead. A lot of the girls on the Stripes team haven't had a lot of dates, so they were hungry for a win. They too a 3-1 lead. I will say that the girls are all doing a lot better than I thought they would! The goalies were actually diving and blocking balls. They are doing much better than Juan Pablo's girls. This was actually a game! They ended up tying 3-3...next goal wins. Ben is freaking out on the sidelines! He obviously can't root for either side.

Injury on the field! Rachel did something to her leg, but she wanted to continue, even though she couldn't even walk.

And the final goal goes to the Stripes - Amber got the winning shot.

Time for the after party, and most assuredly some drama, as both Lace and Olivia are on this date.

Before Ben can say anything, Olivia interrupts him and asks to talk to him. The girls all are quite aware of what she's doing and they are not happy about it. She takes him upstairs to a room with a balcony. THEN, she draws attention to themselves by yelling down to the girls. Yeah, I don't think Ben liked that very much, so he said they should go inside. She said she thinks the girls think she is intimidating. He said getting the first impression rose put attention on her.

The girls talk about her fake looking toes and her bad breath. Jami pulls Olivia aside and tells her what the girls were saying. Olivia assumed it was her calves or her cankles...she was wrong. But she does admit that she has bad toes and she hates them.

Wow, Lace really sat back and waited her turn for once. We don't see a lot of her conversation this time around. What?! No Lace drama on this date?! Shocking! She just didn't seem her "normal" crazy self on this date...she seemed a little medicated and way too relaxed. Or maybe THIS is her "normal"?

Amber talks about doing this for a second time and she is hopeful that this could lead somewhere. She got a kiss and she said she was on Cloud 9. And she's about to be a bit happier, because she just got the group date rose. Olivia was a little bummed, but she knows his heart and she knows that he couldn't give her ANOTHER rose.

Meanwhile, back at the house, Jubilee is worried that she's not going to get a date this week. She is worried that she doesn't gravitate to someone complicated like her. She said he's drawn to the nice girls...and in another breath says that's not her at all.

1-on-1 Date: Jubilee - helicopter ride to San Diego to go wine tasting
Can we just talk about the outburst when they called Jubilee's name for the date? Yikes! I mean, I know she didn't think she was going to get the date because JoJo and Becca are real contenders, but geez, that was not flattering the way she screamed and threw a pillow.

Her fear is that she is going to be socially awkward because that's how she gets when she really likes someone. Ben arrived about 20 minutes late and she kind of tried to flirt/play it off, but she seemed a little too serious. And when he asked if she was excited, she said it was like "whatever". I'm sure she was joking, but she didn't do it very well. The sound of a helicopter can be heard and she kind of freaks out because she is really afraid of heights. She asked "does anyone else want to go on my date?' She was not excited. The girls were super annoyed that she was being disrespectful and not appreciative of the date she was given.

Not surprisingly, after a little while in the air, she realized it wasn't so bad. I mean, anywhere with Ben would be amazing. They end up at a kind of castle. They have fun trying some caviar. Ben was like, "oh this is good" and she tried to play it off, but she couldn't and she had to spit it out. He asked if she was adventurous and she said she was, but not with food. Her favorite food is hot dogs.

She told him how surprised she was to get the date. She was 100% wrong when describing her reaction to getting the date. She kind of said she couldn't breathe, but she didn't mention anything about screaming and jumping up and down like a little kid.

They play some shuffle board and, not a first for this season...they end up in the hot tub.

She made a joke and said "white boy" and he laughed. Later she said she was glad he laughed at that because he doesn't really laugh. Umm...he laughs all the time. She said he only nervous laughs and doesn't really laugh laugh. She said he's too stressed and needs to loosen up. I don't know what this girl is talking about! He is so easy going, he's playful and silly. I just don't see them as a couple at all...they are too different and I'm not really liking the person she has shown herself as in this episode.

Ben tells her that she has been the most honest with him so far. Ben asked her about a conversation that they had about her not wanting to go back to Haiti because she's afraid it will bring up things from her past. She said she knows she needs to go back with someone special because she doesn't think she can do it herself. She said her whole family died except for her and she has a lot of guilt. Wow...this is heavy stuff! So emotional! He said he wants her to understand that what she's done to bring her here is because she's a very strong woman and he wants to keep getting to know her more. And with that, he kissed her hand (so cute) and offers her the rose. He said he loves, loves, loves, loves that she has so many layers and he can see himself falling in love with her.

The girls at the house are really surprised that Jubilee got a rose. They think Ben should have a wife that gets along with other women and they see her pulling away from the girls and being the opposite type of person.

No Date This Week: JoJo, Caila, Becca

Cocktail Party
The girls say there is a weird vibe in the room because there is so much tension because Jubilee is still there.

Ben comes in the room to greet the girls. He said he got a phone call that 2 people he was really close to passed away in a plane crash. He was visibly upset and he said seeing them reminds him of why he's there. It's times like this that he wants to find someone to talk to.

Olivia immediately pulls him aside with a sad voice. You would think she would be there to comfort him and ask him how he's doing. Nope! She starts talking about how all women have things on their bodies that they hate and with her, it's her legs. She hates them and people have written blogs about how she has cankles. She starts to cry a little bit and talk about how hard it is. Wow, that is about the most insensitive display I've ever seen. Ben said he came in really down and this is not what he was hoping to talk about.

Amanda said she was there if he wanted to talk about it.

Most of the girls are sad by how they've acted and the juvenile conversations they had that day. They still see Jubilee withdrawn from the group. They asked her what she was thinking and she said she was trying to think of something to make him feel better.

Her idea was to give him a massage, so she took him outside, where they magically was a massage table. The girls were NOT happy about this. She already had a rose and she did not need the time with him. Normally I would agree, but it didn't look like anyone else was rushing to get their time, so heck, he's up for grabs and she...grabbed! Literally. They were all obviously jealous that hey didn't think of it first. Needless to say, he loved it and he said that was like his favorite thing.

The girls are getting more and more upset and they think Jubilee is flaunting her rose in front of everyone. Amber was designated to go get Jubilee so they could tell her why there is so much tension. Jubilee refused to "girl chat" and she wanted to just lay on the couch outside. So, they decided to go to her. She ran away and went upstairs to get away from them. She was not happy about them trying to confront her. Amber went to find her and try to talk to her, and Jubilee just went off on her. Ben overheard and he had to go investigate. He asked her what was going on and she said she didn't know. Now the girls are mad again because she's getting to talk to him again. Lace is worried she is going home because she hasn't gotten to talk to him at all because Jubilee is taking up all the time.

Amber, who has a rose, said she should be happy but she has to talk to Jubilee because things were bothering her about the tension in the house. So, Amber (in front of Ben) said how the girls were offended that she asked if anyone else wanted to go on the date. She said she was joking and Ben knows that. Ben interjected and said that what he likes about Jubilee is that she doesn't walk on eggshells and she shows who she really is. He told her not to doubt how he feels about her.

After putting out that fire, Ben thinks the drama is over. Enter Lace. She grabs Ben to go talk. Everyone knows this isn't going to end well because it appears that Lace is at the end of her rope.

Oh, and the show spoiled itself...during the commercial break, Chris said that Lace is going to be on the Live After Show. She would not be on if she wasn't getting eliminated tonight.

Lace tells Ben that going home might be easier for herself. She said she is not proud of how she has behaved on the show. She said she has a lot of work to do on herself and she wished she could have been a better person for him. The connection wasn't there and she hopes that she can work on herself and love herself more so that she can end up with someone like Ben.

Rose Ceremony:

Get Roses (14): Amanda, Amber, Becca, Caila, Emily, Haley, Jennifer, JoJo, Jubilee, Lauren B, Lauren H, Leah, Olivia, Rachel

Eliminated (3): Jami, Lace (chose to leave at the cocktail party), Shushanna

This was the first Rose Ceremony that Olivia has not had a rose for. As her name was not being called, she was still confident that she was getting a rose and was hoping that he was just saving the best for last. She was right (about being last, but maybe not about being the "best"). She thinks that she and Ben are on the same wavelength and that they have this unspoken communication. She picks up on little touches - like at the Rose Ceremony, when he kind of hugged her waist. She said she knows that was his way of saying "I can't always give you everything, but I know you can handle it." She really reads WAY into everything...easy to say that she's verging on delusional. She also is claiming Ben as her man...and we're only 3 weeks in. Whatever makes you feel comfortable, I guess. The breakdown on the Live After Show pretty much echoed what I've said.
