The Bachelorette, Ep. 12.4

...Continued...
We pick up right where we left off last night. Chris basically told Chad that he should go politely apologize and make nice with the guys, and especially Evan. The guys are ecstatic because they think Chad is being sent home. They are wrong. He walks in and said he doesn't have an issue with anyone in the house and he wants Evan to just leave him alone. Evan said he owes him a new shirt and an apology. He said he would give him $20. He continued to say that Evan pushed him and not the other way around. Chad said everyone should feel comfortable because he hasn't gone out of his way to fight with anyone. He pretty much just put all the blame on Evan for picking on him. Evan was perplexed, and rightly so.

Pool Party
Chad is the first to greet her at the door, basically before she even got to the door. She is hoping that everyone will relax and have fun. The drinks come out, so you know this is probably going to go south pretty quickly. The chicken fights start, and then a synchronized swimming routine that caused Evan to come out of the water bleeding. JoJo immediately (jokingly) asked if Chad did it. Ha!

She spent a lot of time with Jordan. He said something changed after their group date but in a good way. She said she gets nervous around him and she just wants to know more about him. She is worried that things are too good, too soon. He said it's not an act (hint: it might be an act).

Robby said things are happening a lot faster than he thought it would.

Meanwhile, Chad is pigging out by the pool...again. JoJo is surprised that Chad seems very calm and he's keeping to himself. She said she isn't seeing the negative side. She asked if things were getting better between him and the other guys. He said it was never that bad (yeah right). He said when they are all just chilling, things are fine. The problems start happening when she's around. Ummm...that didn't sound very good. She brought up the weirdness after she gave Evan the rose. He said he was kind of joking, but he seriously wondered that if she was interested in Evan, then what is he doing there because they are complete opposites. Good question. We don't really get an answer, as Evan continues to poke the bear and comes in and interrupts. [UPDATE: I totally wrote that before they showed up in Pennsylvania where the bear was shown roaming and Chad himself said the guys were poking the "Chad bear" lol!] Chad doesn't really say much and leaves. She told Evan that Chad said things were good and he seemed fine. He said he's not scared of him.

Chad continues to mope around the house and critique the other guys saying that Evan is a wimp with kids and 97% of all the guys' conversations with JoJo are probably about him. Cut to Alex, who is telling JoJo that he doesn't want to stoop to his level. He said they are just jealous and need to put him down to make themselves feel better.

Derek said there is still a lot of negativity in the house. He mentioned that a security guard was brought in because of him. Chad overheard and later confronted him and asked him if he didn't have anything better to talk about than him. Derek said that she brought it up, not him.

Chad goes missing again outside, as he continues to sit and mope. Could this guy want to be there any less?

Finally, he comes back in and takes Derek off to the side to clear something up. He said he doesn't know what guy like him (Chad) stole his girlfriend in the past is not him. He doesn't know him and barely talks to him so he doesn't know why he keeps bringing his name up in conversation. Derek said again that JoJo brought it up. He said he's not going after him or trying to sabotage anything. Chad wonders why he's so scared of him. Derek said because he just goes off and he doesn't know what he's going to do. He said perception is reality, and all the guys are perceiving the things that he's doing as being violent and intimidating. He said it seems like this is about him being in front of the camera and not being with JoJo. Chad said it's not real to walk in and say she's the most beautiful woman he's ever seen and that he's in love with her from watching her on TV. Derek said he did watch her season, and why would you not. Chad said because he works. Chad said he just wants him to keep his name out of things. Derek slowed down his speech and very firmly said "If she asks me a question, I will tell her that you asked me to say that." That angered the beast, and he stormed off.

Rose Ceremony
Finally! It feels like forever to get to this point.

Receive Roses (14): Alex, Chad, Chase, Daniel, Derek, Evan, Grant, James F., James T., Jordan, Luke, Robby, Vinny, Wells
Eliminated (3): Ali, Christian, Nick

Yep, that's right. Chad gets a rose, above all odds. And of course....she just had to leave him til last again. Well, he'll get what's coming to him soon enough. The guys can't believe that 3 good guys went home while Chad stays.

JoJo said she wants to leave the drama of the week behind them and they are going to leave the mansion for good. She doesn't tell them where they're going. Spoiler alert: it's Pennsylvania.

JoJo enters on a very old-looking open-top mail plane, while the guys splash through the mud in jeeps. The guys are loving this outdoorsy setting and the place they are staying is very manly. It doesn't take long before they are sliding down the banister and jumping on the beds. Boys will be boys.

1-on-1 Date: Luke - "I like you very mush."
JoJo takes him dog-sledding in the woods. Although it wasn't really a sled, it was more like a cart on wheels being pulled by the dogs. They stopped at a wood-fired hot tub. She put him to work chopping some wood. Whoa...who knew he was hiding that 8-pack under those clothes! She told him she wanted it really hot, so they put a bunch of wood in. Well, it was way too hot and she jumped into his arms. He told her that not having a date last week, that this date was all worth it. He said it was a great first date and he is happy whenever she's around.

Later, she told him that she has had an immediate connection to him. She wants to know more about him and why he is the way he is. He got recruited to play football at West Point and then got deployed in Afghanistan. He was in charge of a group of men and their lives were in his hands. He said that gave him a good idea of what things really mean and how to appreciate life. He lost a very close friend in action and it hit him hard. He is an emotional person by nature and he had to learn how to do that positively again. He loves things that make the hair stand up on the back of your neck. She wanted to know what did that for him. He said moments like this, looking into her eyes and knowing that those could be the eyes that he looks into forever. What a line, but it sure was a good one. Not surprisingly, that got the rose for him.

One last surprise...could it be a private concert? Oh look at that, Dan + Shay are performing...it's not exactly private though - it's a stadium full of people. She takes him up to a platform at the stage where they awkwardly dance with everyone looking at them.

At the Hotel
Chad is off by himself again contemplating why the guys won't stop "poking the Chad bear" (totally his words this time). He said he doesn't like confrontation, and he doesn't go looking for a fight, but he will be the one to finish it. He said he will go to extremes when pushed past "the line". He said the door he punched, if that was a guy's head, it would have exploded.

The other guys wonder if anyone will not get a date this week. Jordan thinks there will be a curve ball like a 2-on-1 date. Alex said the only thing worse than a 2-on-1 date would be a 2-on-1 date with Chad. Well, be careful what you wish for, buddy.

Pure awkwardness while the guys were on the group date, as Luke is alone with Alex and Chad. Luke wonders how out of 26 guys, things just all turned on him. He again played the victim. He said people just keep talking and the only way to get people to shut up is to hit them.

Group Date: Grant, Jordan, Chase, Robby, Vinny, James T., Evan, Wells, James F., Derek, Daniel - "We could go all the way."
After the group names are read, Chad and Alex realize the inevitable - they are going on a 2-on-1. Alex is pumped to see Chad go. Chad thinks Alex is a child.

They take a ferry ride to Heinz Field, where Ben Roethlisberger is there (I think I'm going to puke). He brings in Heinz Ward and Brett Keisel. They run them through some classic football training skills. Gee, I wonder if Jordan will be any good at this? Now would be a good time to remind everyone that, yes, he was a part of several NFL teams, however - he never played a minute in an actual NFL game. He was pretty much just on practice squads.

Ben asks for some 411 on the guys she likes. Poor little Evan was kind of out of his element, but he was trying! He was just hoping not to get a bloody nose again.

Jordan was trying to show off by throwing it extra hard. Everyone was trying to show off by being really rough. More blood...not Evan...James T. this time. He got a gash above his eye that they said would need stitches. He was hoping to not have to go right away and miss the rest of the date. So, they wrapped his head all up in gauze, and yeah, completely over his eyes so he can't even see! That looks like a pretty fake wrapping job, if you ask me.

The break them into teams. Winning team gets more time with JoJo, the losers leave early.

Blue: Vinny, James T. Evan, Robby, Derek
White: Chase, Wells, James F., Daniel, Grant

Jordan is playing quarterback for both teams, so regardless who wins, he will go to the after party. Funny how things work out, huh?!

Evan is so hilarious. He says he's in beast mode, and he spells win "Evan", lol. He's actually making some really great running catches! Next thing you know, he's got blood on his gloves. He says it is someone else's blood. JoJo says "your nose is bleeding again!"

It's tied with one minute left. Derek makes a pick-off with 6 seconds left and runs it back for the injured underdogs! They little weak underdogs pulled out the win! Chase couldn't believe that little Evan was so good. They were all beyond bummed. The losers go back to the hotel and sulk.

Robby is falling in love with JoJo. He said he was so hoping for a one-on-one. She told him not to worry, that he would get his time.

JoJo tells Jordan again how excited she is about him, but he is still so hard to read. He realizes that he is going to have to open up because he is having the feelings that she wants him to open up about. He finally told her that he is falling for her and that made her feel so good.

The date rose went to Jordan because he really opened up and surprised her.

2-on-1 Date: Alex and Chad - "Let's get lost."
So let's recap: both guys were marines and Alex is not a fan of Chad, and vice versa.

The date card arrives and the guys again...poke the bear. Luke asks Chad, if it's him that goes home, why does he think it would be him. What kind of a question is that? He is not self-aware, so he is not going to suddenly realize why he is going home. Chad responds with "That's a stupid question." I agree. Luke then asks what JoJo needs to know about him to have him stay. Again...retarded question! He says "I don't know". Grant makes a stupid, off-handed remark about it being another 2-word answer. Well, Grant, it was 3 words, and Chad talks plenty. I think that might be his shortest answer he's ever given. Chad then asks him if he's got a problem with him, then opens it up to the group to see who else has a problem with him. Several guys raise their hands, and he points at each of them and says "You don't talk to me. You don't talk to me. You don't talk to me." When he gets to Grant, he says "And you don't talk to me, at all." Oh boy. Chad called Alex a whiny little bitch, and Alex said he's the most immature person. Alex said he can't wait to see him go home and that he's making a fool of himself in front of the world. Chad asks him if he wants to take it outside. Alex says if he comes at him again like he did the other night, he's going to f***ing lay him out. Chad wonders if he's going to run away like he did the other night. Grant tells Chad that he's a coward because any time anyone asks him a question, he says 2 words and then walks away every time. So then, he asks Grant if HE wants to go outside. Wells says he wants to be the voice of reason, but Chad doesn't want to hear it and gets up and walks out. Alex vows that after the date, this was all going to end. Evan is worried that Chad will perform a mind trick and be surprisingly normal.

They get ready for the date, and Chad attacks Jordan. Jordan asked if he wanted to join their conversation and he said "no". Jordan said "figures". Well, that was enough to once again, poke the bear. He tells him that this is just a show and he thinks he's safe for now. "But when this ends, you go home. When you go home, you think I can't find you? You think I won't go out of my way to come to your house. I'm dead f***ing serious." Jordan said he isn't scared, but Chad said he should be, as he continues to walk closer and closer to him. As Chad walked away, Jordan said "please come find me."

Alex enters the room and they tell him what Chad said. Chad comes back in and sits in the back of the room just staring creepily at all of them. They all sit awkwardly in silence.

JoJo feels kind of sick about this date and not knowing what could happen. That's what happens when the producers decide who they are going to put on a date. She would not have chosen this combination on her own. But, knowing Chad, it should be pretty telling and will hopefully tell her all she needs to know about him.

They take a helicopter ride to the middle of nowhere, and they are going to go on a hike. Chad thinks Alex has no idea that he's going home and he doesn't know what he and JoJo have. He said it feels like he's on a one-on-one with a tag-a-long.

They find an open spot where they all 3 sit on a very tiny blanket. Awkward. She decides to pull Alex aside. Chad is glad she picked him first because you never buy the first house you look at. She is just getting him out of the way. He said he needs to mind his own business, otherwise Chad will be taking his teeth home.

First thing she asks Alex is what he thinks about Chad because she's heard that they don't get along. Well, so much for not talking about Chad. I hope you weren't too attached to your teeth, Alex. Alex said when he's with her, he doesn't want it to be about another guy. He said he's polar opposites in the house and with her. She asks if something has happened that she doesn't know about. He said right before they left for the date he said he was going to find Jordan after the show and beat his ass. That was the magic word, "Jordan". That got her attention real quick. He said he has no communication skills and he said that Chad has told them that when he talks to someone if they don't listen, he just needs to punch them. She said she didn't know that all this was happening. What did you think, JoJo? Evan said he didn't want to stay if Chad was going to be there. Derek didn't want to stay in the same room with him (maybe she didn't hear about that?). I would have thought that this was serious enough that Chris would have filled her in on some of the things going on. She did know about the security guard being there...did she think it was just for fun?

Time to talk to Chad. She said he has been great to her and this is the side of him that she likes. She said she thinks people don't understand him a lot. She said she didn't want any more drama and she hoped he would listen to her advice to just be chill around the other guys. BUT...she said she just talked to Alex (uh-oh, better enter witness protection Alex, you just made his "list", if you weren't already on it). She said that Alex told her some things that made her confused. She talked about the threats. He didn't really deny it, but just told her that without her being there, he couldn't really explain it. She asked if he never said anything about being violent, and wondered what Jordan could have done for him to say that he would find him after the show and beat his ass. He said he was just pressuring him and pushing him. He asked her if things were completely smooth when she was in the house with the girls. She said people asked her questions but she never said she would find them afterward and kick their ass. He has no response other than to smile. She asks him why he's smiling and he says he doesn't know what to tell her. I think he might finally be realizing that he is on a sinking ship. She told him she needs to think about things and not make any emotional decisions. She said she is disappointed because she gave him a second chance. He whined that he never touched anyone. But, she said "but you threatened to beat people" and he responded with "so they would be quiet and leave me alone". She said that's not the way you should handle it. He said if she had a better way he would love to hear it. She said that he should sit down and talk to people like an adult. He said he tried that. She walked away and he threw rocks.

JoJo got emotional because she thinks that Chad is maybe just struggling because of his mom passing away recently.

Chad goes back to where Alex is sitting on the blanket. He's whistling that creepy whistle again. Awkward. Silence. Chad finally breaks the silence that followed a bunch of heavy sighs. He told Alex that he wasn't very happy with him. Well, that's putting it mildly. His face is all red. He said he's not mad, he's just disappointed. He said, "Life ain't all blueberries and paper airplanes, you know what I mean?" What in the heck does that mean?!?! Chad asked if he talked about anything other than him during his time with her. He said it was so hard for him not to hurt him because he would get in trouble. Alex said that's typical, because he always has to talk about violence. Did he not learn ANYTHING from what JoJo JUST told him?!?! Chad said that Alex backed him into a corner. Alex said it all started with the SportsNation thing. Chad said, "Wow, you're still so angry about that? Have a glass of milk, geez." Alex said he doesn't like milk, and Chad responded with "you should it's delicious." What?! Luckily JoJo returns, because they literally just said "hays in the barn" and pigs are in the castle." Where on earth did they find these metaphors?

JoJo said that Alex said some things that really upset her. She told Chad that she went to bat for him and she gave him a second chance and she wants to know "did you threaten anyone in the house?" Chad says, "I mean it's not 100% false there have been things that have happened in the house." Alex said again about the threat to Jordan. She asked him if it was true and he said he was backed into a corner. No. I'm pretty sure everyone was sitting on the couch while YOU were advancing closer and closer to all of them. That is the opposite of being backed into a corner. You could turn around and walk away. THEY had nowhere to go - THAT is what being backed into a corner is. And that was all JoJo needed. She said she doesn't think that he is the person he says he is and resorting to violence is not acceptable. She doesn't want to be with someone who threatens other people and thinks that violence is OK. Thank you, JoJo!

So, Alex stays, and Chad goes. They say a quick goodbye and then she and Alex leave. Alex said he was sorry that she had to go through that. Chad is left alone, pacing by the river and he wonders if he's being punked. Chad said he knows what she felt about him and she's either a good actress or she's a **** and there are only 2 options there. He then starts wandering in the woods, in the dark, whistling like a maniac.

Back at the hotel, the people come for Chad's bags, and the guys are beyond ecstatic! The champagne comes out as they are going to party like it's 1999! They think they are done with him for good. But...guess what...he's coming back to the hotel! The look on the guys faces is of pure shock and terror. He starts wiping his hands down the window like a crazy person. More drama to come in 2 weeks!
