She told him that he's freaking her out. He flat out asked her if she was in love with him. She said she was "falling in love" with him. She asked him why he was upset. He said he was falling in love with her and it was hard to see her going off with other guys and then after they had a great conversation and things were getting serious, she gives the group date rose to someone else. He said he was really having a hard time and he didn't know if he could do this. He was almost in tears as she tried to convince him to stay. She is still worried that he knows about her being intimate with Nick and she feels really guilty. She isn't guilty about what she did with Nick, she was guilty about the relationships with the other guys. She doesn't want to hurt them by what she did.
2-on-1 Date: Boat ride around Ireland - JJ and Joe
As the Group Date Card was read, JJ and Joe were the only names not read, and they knew what that meant. JJ said he felt kind of sorry for Joe because he likes him. He obviously thinks he will be getting the rose. He doesn't think Joe is a threat or his competition.
They take a boat ride around Ireland and then pull up to a picnic.
JJ said "In the home of Bono, I really wanted you to know that I'm falling in love with you". Really...wow. Not even in an alone moment, he just says it right out in front of Joe. Joe is the first to have alone time. He said he feels like he has a lot to tell her. He said San Antonio was kind of the turning point for him. He knew he liked her but he's never felt this way about someone so quickly. He said she's one in a million and she's worth it and he's falling in love with her. Is it just me or is this a record for the number of guys saying they are either falling in love or are in love with her so early on in this process.
JJ is ready to show the worst of him and is going to tell her the worst thing he's done. He said 3 years ago he cheated on his wife. Everything he worked so hard for is gone now. He wanted to tell her that he didn't just want to be there for one more rose, he is looking for a long time relationship and he wants that to be based on honesty. As much as I can't stand how he has behaved, this was a really big move for him and is really honorable. Never would have expected that out of him. She handled it really well and was appreciative that he opened up about what happened, because he didn't have to tell her that. I have to say that (at least what they are showing us of this date), I really expected there to be a lot of drama and conflict and maybe even some low blows on JJ's part. So far, it's been really calm. Is this the calm before the storm?
Decision time. JJ has a daughter at home and she doesn't think it's fair to keep him here if she doesn't see a future with him. She said that doesn't take anything away from how great she thinks he is. He took it better than I expected. He was sad, but actually handled it like a gentleman. In a little twist, Kaitlyn said she had one rose to hand out and she didn't think she could hand it out yet. She needs more time with Joe before she can make that decision.
Later, she told him that she was really happy that he opened up...lots of kissing...blah blah blah...kind of boring. She appreciates how patient he is and how understanding he is of how hard this process is on her.
Meanwhile, Shawn is still brooding and contemplating what he should do. He kind of wishes she wouldn't have told him how she was feeling in Texas. (SPOILER ALERT: he's not going anywhere!)
Joe returns with the rose and talks about his date and immediately Shawn gets up and leaves...he just can't handle it. On one hand, it's really sweet that he has such strong feelings and wants her all to himself, but on the other hand...take a chill pill! This is what you signed up for, it should not be a surprise!
Kaitlyn gets word that Shawn is on his way to see her. She starts bawling because she thinks he "knows" is there to tell her that he is leaving, and she really can't handle that right now. She's a mess...and we thought HE was a mess. He said he wanted to explain why he came to see her the night before. There was more to it than what he actually told her. He said if this is going to work they have a lot of things they need to work on and this is one of them. He said off-camera some of the things she said to him in Texas made things difficult for him. She told him she thought he was the one. She was so relieved that he wasn't there to talk about Nick and that it was just about them. She apologized for maybe reassuring him too much. She is worried by how much reassurance he is needing...and he still doesn't know everything yet.
Cocktail Party
Kaitlyn makes all of the guys nervous with her opening speech about making mistakes. Nick makes a comment about being the only guy with a rose and it being weird. Chris is weird because usually something big has happened in the week or right before the Rose Ceremony, and they don't know of anything. Shawn knows the "mistake" she was talking about had to have something to do with him.
Ben Z. is the first to talk to her. He thinks they have made lot of progress with their relationship and they have a long way to go. He said there was one thing that he hasn't gotten to do in Ireland yet, and that was to kiss her.
Ben H. takes her into the library and said he needed to talk to her. Immediately her eyes show that she is freaked out...again. He said their date last week went really well and he said that after the Rose Ceremony things didn't go well. He said he felt like something happened with him and Shawn when she came to see them off-camera. He said he knows something was said to Shawn that night that gave him some validation and that was the first time that was really hard for him seeing her with someone else. He said he didn't need details, but he just wanted to know that he wasn't wasting his time spinning his wheels. She reassured him that he wasn't. She said she hates that she put him and Shawn in that position and was just trying to make a nice gesture to see them off-camera. I'm still not exactly sure what this is all about...it's really hard to follow. She really thinks a lot of Ben H. and didn't know this was bothering him so she was glad that he came to talk to her about it. It seems like they are both on good terms after their talk...but who knows.
Nick felt so good about the week, but he is rattled by her opening statement and can't help but thin it's about him. She said her biggest concern was with him maybe saying some things about their time together. She said he could talk about the date, but maybe not how romantic they were. He wondered who said something. She said "does it really matter"? He said all the guys talk about their dates and when they ask he says they kissed. She said she's glad they are talking about this. He starts freaking out and cussing and saying that he's emotional because he always feels so confident after being with her. He knows that last time he was the "over-confident guy" and he's really worried. He cut her off mid-sentence and asked if he could kiss her, and she said "yes please". And of course, him showing his emotional side was very attractive to her and that calmed any fears she had.
Shawn said he never meant to put her in a bad spot and he knows he went a little crazy. She said she regrets sneaking around because it has made it hard for them. She just feels like she's to blame for seeing him so upset and wanting to reassure him. He said she wasn't to blame. This conversation was so repetitive and boring that I kind of zoned out for most of it. To sum it up: Shawn's still worried about getting a rose.
Rose Ceremony Eliminations (2): Ben Z :( and Tanner (JJ eliminated on the 2-on-1 date)
So sad to see Ben Z go...he is probably the first really good guy to leave...should have been Nick ;( But honestly, he probably deserves better. Tanner was kind of a no-brainer since we basically know nothing about him, and the writing was on the wall last week during the group date when he joked about not knowing how he was still there and wondered if she even remembered his name.
Remaining Guys (6): Ben H, Chris, Jared, Joe, Nick, Shawn
1-on-1 Date...sort of
Time for a roadtrip to Killarney. The guys are going to take a bus, but she chooses Jared to drive separately with her. There wasn't a date card, but I guess this day is a date. She really seems to show him a lot of favoritism. Why not pick Chris or Ben H, whom she hasn't had as much time with? Nick is not excited to be on a roadtrip with 4 other guys. He should be happy, she's a pretty horrible driver, as she kept hitting the curb. Shawn must have been so worn out from the last week, because he was out and snoring, keep up the other guys.
Kaitlyn took Jared to kiss the Blarney stone for good luck. Then they head to her hotel, which is actually a castle. They spend quite a bit of time making out on her bed.
Twist: Chris has Some News
Chris (Harrison, that is) visits Kaitlyn and said that some things are going to change. Normally, and as the guys are expecting, this next round of cuts would determine who gets hometown dates. But, that's not what is going to happen this season. He asked her if she really thought she was ready to meet 4 families (as if her answer would alter what has already been planned). She said she regrets having off camera time with Shawn and Ben H. and she is disappointed in herself for her alone time in her hotel room with Nick. Chris said "good" (weird response), because everyone makes mistakes. He said this week, she will be narrowing it down to 3 guys. Those 3 guys she will have the overnight dates with, so that she has had alone time off-camera with the guys before the hometowns. He said this will put everyone on an even playing field before meeting the families. She will only be meeting the families of the final 2 guys.
1-on1: Chris
They take a helicopter ride to see the countryside. They have a picnic on the edge of a cliff. He is so happy where he is with Kaitlyn and really sees a future with her (this just makes me sad, knowing how this ends). He's just so gosh darn cute and so sweet.
She asked him if he wants to stay in Nashville. He said he loves Nashville and he chose it because he thought it would be a great place to raise kids. He asked her how she was feeling and she said it's been really hard and she's stressing out. Apart from that, they talked a lot about the beautiful scenery and there were a lot of awkward pauses. You could tell that she really wanted to say more and he kept asking her how she was and she just broke down crying. She said when she's with him it's always good and he matches everything on her checklist. She said she promised herself that she wouldn't lead anyone on if she doesn't see it going anywhere. He said this is their last chance and he wishes she would open up and tell him more about why. She said she doesn't know that there is anything he can do, which makes her think that something is wrong with her and she doesn't know why she doesn't see it with him. He said he really wished that she could be his wife. She said it was the hardest thing to say goodbye to him. There wasn't a rose on this date to be given or not, but she just made the decision to walk away from him and leave him standing there brokenhearted at the edge of the cliff. He said he thinks she made a mistake and he doesn't think she knows what she wants. He doesn't think she is ready to find what she wants because she is a mess right now. He said he's glad he knows now rather than later that it wasn't meant to be. I felt so bad for him as he broke down crying on the cliff all alone with the cameras all pointed on him and her flying away on the helicopter.
