Ginger & Val - Contemporary
Most Memorable Year: 2013 - she got engaged
Stupid house band is ruining Phillip Phillip's song "Home". This singer is just painful! But how cute were they in this dance?! So adorable! Her smile just lights up the room. Val, please lose he stupid little ponytail on top of your head, it looks ridiculous! The dance seemed way too short!
Score: 21
Doug & Karina - Waltz
Most Memorable Year: 2015 - his dad passed away, and his mother died minutes after
What a beautiful dance, dedicated to his parents' love story. He was much smoother than his first week, but not quite as solid and technically good as last week. But it was beautiful...up until he was spinning her on the floor and tripped over her :( The rest of it was beautiful, though and he didn't let it throw him off too much. It definitely brought a lot of tears for everyone.
Score: 20
Kim & Sasha - Foxtrot
Most Memorable Year: 1976 - she booked her first commercial (Mrs. Butterworths), which led to sitcoms
Not a surprise that they are dancing to the theme of "The Facts of Life". A very nostalgic piece, complete with her signature pigtails. No roller skates like she mentioned last week, though. I think she did a great job. It looked like a very classic foxtrot, but the theme made it a lot more fun. At the judges' panel, Bruno started to lose it a little bit (more than normal) - that was a hoot!
Score: 22
Von & Witney - Contemporary
Most Memorable Year: 2016 - winning the Superbowl and being named MVP
So, he listens to Phil Collins' "In the Air Tonight" before every game? Interesting. So, he went shirtless, and man, does he have a full frontal tattoo! Witney's choreography was really powerful and moving. The lifts were incredible - no surprise since he's a physical beast! He had a lot of graceful movements. That was a really great routine!
Score: 20
Marla & Tony - Jive
Most Memorable Year: 1993 - her daughter Tiffany was born
There were a lot of really quick and fast moves in this jive. She nailed just about all of them. I felt like she was like a millisecond behind Tony. It was barely noticeable, but I noticed some hesitation. But, it still looked great, and she nailed every step. It was pretty close to perfect.
Score: 21
Antonio & Sharna - Foxtrot
Most Memorable Year: 2007 - freshman year of college he broke the rushing record and his son was born on the same day
His kids are adorable! He brought his son, Antonio, Jr. be a part of the dance - how cute! The song "7 Years" by Lukas Graham was the perfect song for them. His smile just lights up the room and you can tell he really enjoys dancing. He did a great job! He might have rushed things a little bit, but it was still really good. He had a very nice moment with his son at the end that was really cool. Awe! Carrie Ann gave Antonio, Jr. a 10. And Erin asked him how it was to dance with dad, and he very appropriately channeled his dad with "BOOMIN'!"
Score: 20
Paige & Mark - Paso Doble
Most Memorable Year: 2014 - her first UFC fight; fighting saved her from being bullied in school
They turned the dancefloor into a fighting ring! Right from the get-go, you knew this was going to be powerful, powerful dance and performance. Pair the paso with her fighting background, and it's just the recipe for a fierce dance. Mark's choreography really looked like a fight, but yet, it had paso moves (probably could have had a few more in there). She had her revenge, and she knocked the living daylights out of him at the end. Very, very cool concept and it was executed perfectly. She's a fighter in more ways than one, and she is a real contender this season. She could go allthe way.
Score: 23
Jodie & Keo - Foxtrot
Most Memorable Year: 2015 - her comeback year
Listening to her tell her story just gives me chills. It's so wonderful to see how she has turned her life around and has gone back to being her old self again. She looks so beautiful! She glided and floated across the floor. She has a great connection with Keo, and this was just a beautiful and moving piece. So nicely done.
Score: 23
Mischa & Artem - Samba
Most Memorable Year: 2008 - "The O.C." was at it's prime and it was a year of change for her
Hopefully this week, with something so personal, she will be able to relax and really let loose and be herself - and most importantly - have some fun! There is already so much improvement! She really looked like she was having more fun this week. Good for her. However, I'm afraid it's just too little, too late. I fully expect her to be leaving tonight.
Score: 18
Wanya & Lindsay - Waltz
Most Memorable Year: 1996 - Boyz II Men performed at the closing ceremony at the Olympics in Atlanta
They are dancing to Boyz II Men's performance of "The Star Spangled Banner" - pretty cool that it's 20 years later. He was great, as usual. It's kind of a hard song to dance a waltz too, but it was a good performance.
Score: 24
Nyle & Peta - Tango
Most Memorable Year: 2012 - the year he graduated from college and decided to travel the world alone, without an interpreter, to find himself and find what he wanted to do in life
He looks smokin' as usual! He has the perfect look for the tango. He does the serious face so well. I think he did exceptional with this really quick dance. There were so many steps and turns, and he was in sync with her on every one of them. I just love their connection as partners. So good! I sure hope he gets some love from the judges this week! Watch out - Bruno's going to explode! I love seeing his smile on the wonderful comments he received.
