No Date this Week: Jami, Rachel, Lauren B, Leah
Group Date: Teams of 2: Jubilee/Lace, Jen/LB, Mandi/Amber, Becca/JoJo, Lauren H/Jackie; they go to a high school ("Bachelor High") and compete answering questions in various school subjects.
OMG! Chris is the principal...he's wearing some dorky glasses, a vest...too funny!
Chris tells the girls to find a partner and then find their locker. Inside, they each get a backpack.
Round 1: ingredients/supplies in the backpack they need to make a volcano erupt; 1st 3 teams to get it to erupt move on. Lace is useless and her team is out.
Round 2: bobbing for apples and passing them only using their mouths; Jackie gets distracted and can't get her apple and her team is out
Round 3: studying Indiana - find the state and put it on the map of the USA where it belongs. It is so sad that they are having this much trouble; Becca and Jojo put the state sideways and put it where Pennsylvania is. Yikes! That is embarrassing.
Round 4: shoot a freethrow - first team to both score wins; Amber and Mandi win
Mandi and Amber then have to run over hurdles and be the first one to make it to Ben to be declared the winner. It was a total and complete blowout, as Mandi left Amber in the dust. Mandi is declared the Bachelor High homecoming queen.
Apparently nothing of ANY interest happened with Mandi's one-on-one time because we skip right to the night portion of the date. Lace, of course, wants to make her presence known, but it's Becca who got time with him first. He said he had so many questions for her. They chatted while shooting some hoops. He said when she first walked in he was so surprised to see her. She said she was excited to be there and she was thankful that he was welcoming to her.
The girls ask about Jennifer's time with Ben (wait...when was this? did I miss something?). She says that they had a good time and they kissed. Lace looked like she was going to go psycho on her!
Lace is frustrated that she hasn't gotten to talk to Ben yet. She goes in and interrupts his time with Mandi. She said he got to see a different side of her and she wants him to see the real her. She apologized for the way she came across after the Rose Ceremony. He said he felt like he was being attacked. He said that him not making eye contact was not intentional. She thinks he is so amazing and so forgiving. She is staring at him like a crazy person and she said he was making eye contact like crazy. She feels like they are on the same page. She thinks he wants to kiss her and she wants to kiss him too. But wait...here comes Jubilee to save Ben...and ultimately become another person on Lace's bad list.
Jubilee opens up about being born in Haiti and being adopted. She was in an orphanage before being adopted. She said that was one thing she loved about him was that he has volunteered in places like that and it meant a lot to her. You can tell he's really interested in her by the way he's looking at her. They shared a kiss at the end.
Lace was upset because she got twice as much time as she did. The rest of the girls say that it is ridiculous that she's complaining about not enough time because there are some of them who have had NO time. So, she goes and interrupts LB's time. LB said they hadn't even been talking for 2 minutes. Lace told him that she feels like they keep getting interrupted. She thinks her time went perfect and she will be getting the rose. It was funny, we didn't even see them talk about anything important and you could tell he was just trying to end the conversation.
Ben asks JoJo to come talk. He takes her up tot he top of the roof on the helicopter pad. He said her attitude on the date made him more attracted to her. She said she really likes him a lot and they talk about how much they want to get to know each other...without actually saying anything about themselves. Of course, there's a kiss. And then she gets the date rose. Dun, dun, dun...
Parting words from Lace: "I came here to find Ben as a husband, and I'm not going to lose."
1-on-1 Date: Caila; Chris Harrison sets up the date - Kevin Hart and Ice Cube show up to promote their new movie "Ride Along 2"
The guys talk to Ben and they say they are going to do a cheap date to see how she reacts. Shocker: Lace is jealous and thinks this should be her date.
Ben drives and the guys sit in the back (get it? "ride along"...pretty subtle what they did there). They stop along the side of the road where a guy is selling flowers. How incredibly fake does this scenario seem? This guy is absolutely in the middle of nowhere. They stop at a liquor store and Ice Cube tries to help him pick something and tried to force him to buy condoms.
Ben and Caila try to talk - meanwhile, in the back seat, Ice Cube and Kevin continue to interrupt.
Next stop is a place that sells hot tubs. They actually get into their bathing suits and sit in the hot tub...in the middle of the store! ...and Kevin joins them. This is just weird on so many levels. Ben was right though, Caila was the right girl for this because she's extremely laid back and go-with-the-flow.
For the evening portion of the date, they go to a restaurant. They talked about how fun the day was, but they also talked about some personal things, and they both opened up. Their conversation was really good and they seem really compatible. There was no question that she was going to get a rose.
After dinner, they walk in the city, and on a movie sign, it said their names. So, they walk in and Amos Lee is performing...yep, you guessed it...just for them. He was playing Ben's favorite song and he looked like he was getting a little emotional. Lots of swaying, lots of kissing. They're both completely smitten with each other.
Group Date: Olivia, Sam, Amanda, Emily, Haley, Shushanna; compatibility testing
They go to Love Labs Technologies. Ben is hoping the data will help him find his perfect match. Haley (one of the twins) said blondes should not be on this date.
They each do some testing. One test tracked their eye movements to see where their eyes look first. Next, they ran on the treadmill to see what kinds of smells they give off. Ben was blindfolded and he started smelling them. OK, that's just weird. He used words like "flowery", "beachy", "fruity"...except for Sam...he said she smelled sour.
Then there was some thermal imaging with Ben and the girls together and the other girls were watching the screen as their bodies turned colors. Lots of jealousy going on right now.
The results are in! The lowest score was 2.42 and that was Sam. The highest score was 7.45 and that was Olivia. She was so certain she was the most compatible and she was right. So, she didn't just get the first impression rose out of nowhere. Unfortunately, this makes her public enemy number one with the rest of the girls.
Olivia gets first one-on-one time with Ben on the evening part of their date. He takes her to his hotel room. Their chemistry is undeniable. Back with the girls, Olivia asked where they were going to take him to talk to him. They asked if she went to this one place over there and she said "I don't know...I don't really want to talk about it" and got up and walked away. Not winning any points with the girls.
Ben wanted to redeem himself with Sam, so he smelled her again. This time, he said she smelled like passion fruit.
Amanda hasn't had any time with Ben yet, so she steals him away. She wanted to talk to him about her daughters. He said she makes so much more sense now that he knows that about her. She's probably the first mom on the show to not be able to produce a picture of her girls...and Ben even asked to see them. Missed opportunity there. She was very happy with how their talk went.
The date rose went to Olivia. And the girls now hate her just a little bit more. The looks on their faces were priceless. They looked like someone just told them their puppy died. They are clueless on what they need to do to get a rose.
Cocktail Party
I like Olivia, but she is starting to show some of the signs of being a little too overconfident and throwing it in the girls' faces. She has a rose, but she managed to sneak some time with Ben. She didn't want to rest on her laurels just because she always has a rose at the Rose Ceremony. She rejoins the group and tells them to have at it. Add that to the growing list of reasons why the girls hate her. Lace confronted her and said she's been interrupted with Ben 3 times so she really has had no time. Olivia said that just because she has a rose doesn't mean anything to her.
Lace with Ben again, and she said she knows she's coming off crazy to him. He said to be honest, the first night threw him off. She said she was sincere with her apology. She said she is a lot to handle and dorky-looking as a child. Um...what does this have to do with anything? He's looking at her trying to figure out what in the heck she is talking about. Thankfully, they get interrupted again. Really, she doesn't realize it, but all these interruptions are actually the girls saving Ben from her. She leaves and cries and says something about letting the Lace come out that she told herself wouldn't come out. This girl is just a hot mess. Clearly, this show is just too much for her. Next thing you know, she'll be outside talking about onions and realizing they're pomegranates.
Ben gave Lauren B a picture of them on the first night to show her that he has been thinking about her and he wants her to know how special he thinks she is. She told him that she is so glad she came and if she doesn't make it to next week, she will still be glad and she's learned a lot about herself and made some great friends. She clarified that she would be extremely bummed, but she wouldn't have changed anything that she did.
He gives Lauren H a blue ribbon for creating the biggest explosion on their date.
For Amanda, he told her that he wanted to get her girls involved in this. He wanted to make some barrettes together that she could give to them. Wow! How sweet is that?! She even put one on him...totes adorbs!
Rose Ceremony

Eliminated (4): Jackie, LB (offered a rose but declines), Mandi, Sam
He called LB's name, and she asked if she could talk to him. She told him that she didn't think that she could do this. Before he started calling names, she was saying how she was thinking and contemplating things and questioning herself because of seeing him connect with other girls and she hasn't had enough time to get to know him. I'm kind of sad to see her go because she seems like she has a good head on her shoulders. But props to her for how classy she handled her exit.
I'm wondering who got the rose that would have been sent home, had LB not declined. It wasn't Lace because she got a rose before he called LB's name. But that's only IF we were shown the roses in that order...they don't always show them in the order they were handed out.
