Merica Camp
Let the fallout begin! Everyone's questioning who voted for who. Dan said he voted for Shirin and he was the one who put a star on his vote. Sierra confirmed that that was his handwriting.
Tyler said he HAD to write someone else's name down. Dan said he could have voted for Shirin. Dan, to Tyler's face, said it was fine. Will came clean to Dan about voting for him. To Will's face, he told Will it was fine and it was a game. Then they shared some kind of weird, overly touchy-feely embrace. Those 2 are just weird!
It's Rodney's birthday! Will and Carolyn said they were willing to either give up their spot or pick him to join them on the reward. Rodney said they have a lot of heart, but he knows he has 0.0% chance of going because he has no faith in them.
Reward Challenge
Reward: they will be taking supplies to a children's orphanage and they will all feast on barbecue
Challenge: unspool a ribbon attached to 3 team members to release a key at the top. The key unlocks rungs to a ladder that they have to assemble. One person climbs the ladder to retrieve a bag. They take the bag of balls through an obstacle course. The balls are launched by catapult into basket mounted on the wall.
Ouch! Someone has to sit out of the challenge because it is an uneven number.
Dan chose Rodney and Tyler
Carolyn chose Mike and Sierra
Will was not picked, so he has to sit out
It's close the whole way through. Until Rodney left the bag of balls behind...he had to go back to retrieve it and go through the entire course again! Bummer!
Rodney gets through quickly and they immediately launch a couple balls. It's tied 2-2.
Dan gets #4 and Mike's team pleads with him to let them try it. He won't let Sierra take his place, he wants to do it all himself.
Dan's #5 goes in and out and he can't believe it. Mike gets #4 and it's tied. Mike gets #5.
Poor Rodney, he's shut out again...and it's even his birthday. Mike, Sierra, and Carolyn win the reward. He plead his case, but no one was willing to switch. Rodney said people made comments that they would switch with him. Sierra said that was before it became a "team" thing, and she wasn't going to step away from her "team". That made no sense. Your team doesn't care if you go to the reward or not.
Reward
Carolyn has never been on a reward with Mike before, and she saw him in a different light. Considering he has an idol, she knows they have to vote out one of their own, so she hinted at a collaboration with a new Mike.
Merica Camp
Rodney sinks deeper and deeper into depression and anger. He's mad he has to wash dishes on his birthday. He's upset that his "Survivor family" abandoned him on his birthday. He was really hurt by Carolyn because she's been on just about every reward, and she made a comment about giving it to him. He makes comments about making a huge blindside, and he really starts to lose it. Tyler is worried because Rodney is in his alliance and he's losing it.
Rodney thinks Mike is going home...even though he has an idol. Tyler tells him that's not going to happen because he's going to play the idol. Rodney asked why he would when he's acting all nice and putting on a show. Tyler said "because it's Survivor".
It's night and it's raining, and Rodney is ranting at Mama C. Anyone doing shots every time Rodney mentions his birthday? If you are, you are already drunk, because he has said it at least 100 times already! Mike assured Rodney that he IS playing his idol and he is not going home.
Tyler and Carolyn sneak off, and they both think Mike will vote for Tyler. Carolyn hints that she would be willing to play her idol for him. He told her she better start bringing it to Tribal.
Immunity Challenge
Challenge: balance on a small perch while leaning back on a rope. In increments, they will lean back further and further until they can't hold on any longer and fall in.
So...we know Will will be the first one out, no?
Dan is already in pain. Rodney is grunting, but he almost seemed like he was faking it. Jeff asked him how he was doing, and again, his birthday comes up.
And, Will is out. Surprise! Not! And not soon after, Dan followed him.
Mike looks very calm. Sierra drops, and Rodney drops.
Carolyn vs. Tyler vs. Mike
Tyler looks like his hands are burning something awful! He keeps trying to cinch himself up, but that looks like it only makes it worse.
They move down to the next knot. Mike was looking bad making the transition, and he fell! Oh no! Tyler was next and Carolyn wins immunity again! I was really hoping Mike wouldn't have to play his idol.
Merica Camp Pre-Tribal
Dan thinks one of three people are going: himself, Tyler, or Mike. He thinks Mike will play the idol, and he thinks he could go.
Carolyn would like to split votes between Mike and Dan. Dan still has the advantage and it would be good to get that out of the game.
Tyler and Will both agree that Dan should be the next to go because his advantage makes him a huge target. Voting for Mike and Dan gets rid of the idol and Dan's advantage in one move.
Carolyn is still showing signs of working with Mike. Tyler is the only person who knows she has an idol, so even though they have been close, he could still blow up her game. This is the first time we've heard her have some concerns about Tyler. I would be surprised if she would make a move to get him out this early.
Carolyn and Tyler reconvene and agree that Dan is the way to go.
Tribal Council
Mike is ready for a show. He brought fireworks, popcorn and soda...which Rodney wondered where he hid it. Mike was so ready to see one of the 6 go home, and he has been trying to get people to change their thinking for 3 Tribals now.
Sierra thinks that a big move is going to be made tonight and people will be shocked.
Uh-oh...the kiss of death! Jeff asked Tyler if he goes home, would he be surprised. He said "yes".
The Votes
Mike, very wisely, plays his idol. That was a no-brainer...but we've seen dumb things done in the past. Glad to see he was smart.
