Leg 3: London England -> Shetland Islands, ScotlandAdam & Bethany lead it off, and they decide to work with Misti & Jim on the way to the train station. Michael took a tumble and hurt his ankle. His ankle starts to swell and turn all kinds of colors of purple. It looks incredibly painful!
Kym & Alli think the rest of the teams are "square" and boring. They have 6 hours to kill and the rest of the groups are hanging out. So, they decide to go to a pub. Doesn't seem like a good idea to me.
Detour: Pony Up or Light My Fire
Pony Up -- cut pieces of peat, and then use a pony to deliver it to a house
Light My Fire -- build a Viking torch; there are 3 steps that they have to pass in the creation of the torch (Vikings in Scotland?)
Tasks with animals are usually really difficult, because the animals are unpredictable. Not surprising that only a few teams chose that task.
Pony Up -- Misti & Jim, Shelley & Nici, Adam & Bethany, Amy & Maya
Light My Fire -- Keith & Whitney, Brooke & Robbie, Tim & Te Jay, Michael & Scott, Kym & Alli
Those ponies were sassy! Misti & Jim's made a good first run, but the second time was pretty crazy. The other teams really struggled to control their pony. Surprisingly (maybe it's editing), but all 4 teams seemed to finish before the Light My Fire groups.
Brooke & Robbie seem to take FOREVER to complete this task.
Route Info: Flock Together
They will herd 8 sheep through some gates and into the pen, just like sheep dogs. Oh dear...this is going to be another tough one.
Misti & Jim did a very good job and had their sheep in the pen in no time. And then there's Shelley & Nici: "This is going to be easy and fun." Yeah right! And then the sheep start jumping AT them. Ha!
Amy & Maya also did really well. Adam & Bethany realized that if they slowed down, the sheep would just walk themselves right into the pen.
Keith & Whitney showed up in about 6th place, but ended up leaving in 4th. Meanwhile, Shelley & Nici, who arrived in 2nd place are still there.
Brooke & Robbie, who were in last, finished quickly, and moved up a couple places.
Tim & Te Jay tried to be sheep whisperers, and found that by talking it was scaring the sheep, so they started baaa-ing instead. And then, they come up with the weirdest strategy ever. They take a bunch of their clothes and string them into a rope to try to eliminate places for the ship to go. The sheep jumped right over it.
Michael & Scott were really struggling, and Michael's ankle was not making things easy. They thought about taking the 4-hour penalty. But they eventually get all their sheep, leaving Tim & Te Jay as the last team.
As the teams make their way to the Pitstop. They are given something and told to go where it was found. All teams were told about a castle...except Michael & Scott, who thought they were supposed to go to to where the item was made. Based on their understanding, when they asked for help, they were sent to a foundry, which took them WAY in the wrong direction.
