The Voice, Ep. 6.11

Battle Rounds, Round 2

Chris Martin from Coldplay will be mentoring all of the pairings. In this round, 2 people will sing together again, just like the last round. This time, however, the pairings are a surprise to the singers, and they must decide on their song together.

The coaches will also be able to steal 1 singer in this round.

Team Adam

Sam vs. Christina - OneRepublic "Counting Stars"
One of my favorite songs...can they do it justice? I'm not sure. Sam started out very haunting, and that was matched by Christina. I didn't really care for what Sam did with her first verse. It was too low, and I just didn't like the way she was singing the words. I like their harmonies, really beautiful. Right now, I'm digging Christina's take on the song and not Sam's. Sam sounds like she's trying to force it too much to match Christina and it's coming off as too shouty in some places. Christina was just amazing. I sure hope she wins. Sam's a bit too quirky and I think she needs to tone down the weird over-pronouncing of the words (not sure what else to call it). Shakira said it perfectly, by saying that she hadn't really found herself yet, and that was kind of what I was thinking.
WINNER: Christina

Delvin vs. Josh - Stevie Wonder "Signed, Sealed, Delivered"
I really like this match-up. Not one of my favorite songs, but they rocked it out. Delvin is just freakin' amazing. He's flawless. Josh comes in as the underdog I think, but he held his own, in a more subdued way. He isn't as big vocally, or physically, as Delvin is, so you might count him out, but he's strong in his own way. He hit some really crazy high notes. Delvin went from the basement to the rafters with his range, and the screams were right on. Screams are risky, and he nailed them perfectly without going way over the top. Tough choice, but I would go with Delvin.
WINNER: Delvin
USHER STEAL: Josh

Team Blake

Audra vs. Megan - Miley Cyrus "The Climb"
Audra started out strong. I think her first verse was more believable than Megan's. Megan got into at the start of the chorus. I thought I was going to like Megan better, but I actually ended up liking Audra better. She had a killer note right before the last chorus. Audra had way more big moments than Megan did, and Megan is the rocker...she should have really rocked it out. Instead, it was the little country girl who rocked it harder I think.
WINNER: Audra

Dancing With The Stars, Ep. 18.3

Theme Night: Most Memorable Years
Guest Judge: Robin Roberts (from ABC's Good Morning America)...your guess is as good as mine as to why they think this was a good or meaningful choice

At the top of the show as the cast makes their way to the dancefloor, Billy Dee and Emma are not there. We are told that he is unable to dance. Wow...never saw that one coming...from the 77-year-old man who couldn't move at all. Yep, I never guessed he might have an injury in this high-paced, highly athletic and competitive dancing show. It turns out, his doctor told him not to dance because of his chronic back problems. Poor guy, we want him to be healthy, but I just gotta say...whoever thought it would be even possible, let alone a good idea to have him on the show, should really be fired. So should his doctors, if he's had chronic back problems, why did they even OK him to be on the show?

James & Peta - Jive
Most Memorable Year: 2007, the year he overcame bullying in high school for being "pudgy" and slightly overweight

What a cute little nerd he is! I love this song (Jimmy Eat World's "The Middle") and it fits this jive very well. I love the theme, and I think it really tells his story. Holy crap, he just did a backflip off the top step! This jive is so incredibly fast! His legs are very sharp, but his kicks could be a little bigger. Other than that, I think it was perfect! He even did a really huge assisted leg kick/b-boy move at the judge's table, and Bruno was stunned! Wow!
Score: 36

NeNe & Tony - Rumba
Most Memorable Year: 2013, the year she remarried her husband (after being divorced from the same guy)

Tony has never looked so good! Look at those abs! I'm impressed with NeNe's flexibility and her softness. She's just big all over (not in a bad way), and for her to be able to move the way she does is really impressive. She showed great emotion, and I think she pulled off a really nice Rumba.
Score: 31

Cody & Witney - Jazz
Most Memorable Year: 2010, the year he got signed and moved with his family to L.A. to start his music career

He's dancing to his own song, which is cool. I'm not sure that's ever been done on the show before, even with the number of singers who have done the show. I like the vibe of this dance, and I'm just finding myself being a big fan of what he does! Every week, every dance is just so unique. You can see the influence he has on the choreography, and Witney does an amazing job putting it all together. I don't know that I would have thought of this dance as "Jazz", but it was still a really great performance. Robin Roberts actually summed up my thoughts pretty well: he shows a great respect for the dance, but he makes it his own with his own flare.
Score: 35

Danica & Val - Contemporary
Most Memorable Year: 2010, the year her son was born and her grandmother had also just recently passed away before getting to meet him

She looks absolutely stunning! ...and Val isn't too bad either :) Beautiful song, and an absolutely beautiful performance. Their lifts were so effortless. She was just floating! They couldn't have done a more perfect performance. It was like a Disney princess fantasy come-to-life. And, hey, let's talk about this girl's flexibility! Those over her head splits were ridiculous! Her son was so emotional after the dance...tears all around in the ballroom!
Score: 36

Drew & Cheryl - Waltz

Amazing Race, Ep. 24.6

Leg 6: Sri Lanka
Dave & Connor lead it off.

Racers are off to a museum for their next clue. The museum isn't open, so all of the teams will get to go in at the same time.

Road Block: Pump It Up
Task: Find 4 taxis with their color cards and then get them filled up at the gas station.

Rachel picks green, since they are the green team. She unfortunately looks at the color of the taxi...instead of the card in the window! Oh no!

This thing was total chaos! There were only 2 pumps and like 1000 of these taxis that they had to have the drivers maneuver close enough so they could fill them up. Cord was smart and had them back in from the other side, and there wasn't a line.

Finally....if it wasn't for John telling Rachel that he was taking one of his "red" taxis, she would have never known what she was doing wrong. She kept looking at her clue after she thought she had 4 filled up and they told her she didn't. Thank you John!

Big Easy actually was picking up the taxis to move them closer! Hercules! lol

Brendon & Rachel are now in last, but luckily, they make it on the train with the rest of the teams. Whew!

Detour: Trunk or Sheets
Trunk: work with an elephant and attach a chain used to move logs; they have to move 6 logs (elephant does 3 and racers do 3); only 4 teams can do this task, the rest will have to do the other one
Sheets: load up elephant waste to combine with water and scraps of paper to make 5 sheets of paper

Jet & Cord, Jessica & John, Dave & Connor and Leo & Jamal do the Trunk task. Flight Time & Big Easy, Brendon & Rachel, Caroline & Jennifer do the the Sheets task.

It was so cool seeing those elephants lifting those logs! Jessica was the only girl, and she was killing it with those big long logs, all by herself! You go girl! Dave & Connor had trouble getting the chains right. I think this is the first time I've seen them struggle.

Jet & Cord are the first ones to leave the Trunk task, followed by Leo & Jamal, and then then Jessica & John. Wow...Dave & Connor, still struggling!

Big Easy was diving right in with his hands right into the elephant poop like it was no big deal. The mixture they made looked so gross! It kind of reminded me of papier-mache...and I always hated that! Caroline & Jennifer struggled with getting their sheets smoothed out, because they couldn't get the bubbles removed, but they eventually got the hang of it. Flight Time & Big Easy were hilarious, giving little shimmies when they were flattening their sheets.

Flight Time & Big Easy were the first to finish the Sheets task.

On the way to the pitstop, the Cowboys and the Afghanimals were having a back and forth race with their cabs. Meanwhile Dave & Connor and Flight Time & Big Easy also had a race, and it just so happened that their cab drivers were brothers! Whoa! What are the odds?!

Leg 6 Standings:
1. Leo & Jamal
2. Jet & Cord
3. Jessica & John
4. Dave & Connor
5. Brendon & Rachel
6. Flight Time & Big Easy
7. Caroline & Jennifer--NON ELIMINATION LEG

Somehow, I missed Brendon & Rachel finishing the Detour, because as they were showing all of the teams in the cabs, there were not showing them at all. I was thinking they must still be there...but all of a sudden, they get out of the cabs, and they end up in 5th place!

We finally see something that Dave & Connor are not good at...the foot race! Poor Dad, I was worried he was going to injure himself as he was trying to beat Jessica & John. It was clear he didn't stand a chance. As long as they are ahead, they are good, but if anyone is close, they will get beat every time.

American Idol, Ep. 13.22 & 13.23

Top 9, Theme: "With the Band" (they will be singing as the frontperson of a band, and the band will be performing with them on the stage)

Alex
No Doubt's "Don't Speak" (can't wait to hear this!)
He gave it a little bit of a reggae vibe...interesting! Never heard the song done that way. It was kind of cool! His voice is awesome as always. And again, I love his originality and his risk taking. It totally sets him apart from the rest of the contestants. The more of the song I hear, the more I'm thinking that his voice has never sounded so crisp and clear. He did some really nice inflections and high notes at the end, and that last run he did was so original! LOVED IT!
My Score: 10

Majesty
Florence and the Machine's "Shake it Out" (hate this song by the way)
She chose an interesting instrument for this one: the tambourine. Not sure that it really added anything to the song. I think this song was way bigger than she was. She started out OK, but it seemed the longer it went, the shakier it got. I actually liked the beginning of the song. But then she tried to move and dance around a lot, but just behind the microphone, which was a little strange. OK, and the look of her best friends face in the audience just said everything: she was just sitting there, and she wasn't smiling or anything. I didn't really care for that, and it's not just because I don't like the song. Just like with the Frozen song, when she moved around, she lost it vocally. I think this will definitely put her in the bottom again. If last week's awesome performance wasn't good enough to get her out of the bottom...this definitely won't.
My Score: 5

Dexter
Little Big Town's "Boondocks"
This should be a pretty good song for him. At least it won't be as boring as his last couple songs. One thing's for sure...it will still sound almost exactly like the original. Come on Dexter...listen to the judges' critiques and do something unexpected! This was his best performance in about 3 weeks, but it still wasn't that great. He just doesn't stand out for anything special. And again...Harry called him out for not making the song his own...when will he learn? I don't think he has it in him to add any originality. He can sing karoke, but apparently, he's not able to add anything musically. Also making the point that he's boring...a giant gummy bear took up much of the judges' critique time...until Keith also calls him out to do something original.
My Score: 7

Malaya
The Beatles' "The Long and Winding Road"
I didn't care for this song at all, but she is really coming into her own. Her voice is maturing, and she's learning how to control her voice and not scream or go over the top. She had some really great, big notes, that were really amazing.
My Score: 8

Sam
Plain White T's' "Hey There Delilah" (love this song!)
I like the intimate vibe with the lights on stage, that was cool. I think he sounded great. I wish he would have made it just a little more upbeat and fun...it kind of seemed to drag at some spots. He still looks pretty uncomfortable on stage while he's playing and singing. I wish he would smile more. Regardless, it was still a great performance.
My Score: 8

Jessica
Fleetwood Mac's "Rhiannon"
Wow, she really does sound like Stevie Nicks. I feel like I say it every week, but she totally transforms her voice to fit the style, genre and even the original singer of the song. It's really amazing. She sounded great again tonight.
My Score: 9

C.J.
The SteelDrivers' "If it Hadn't Been for Love"
I think this might be C.J.'s best performance. It was fun and upbeat. But...it was still badly out of tune in some places. At least in this performance, as compared to last week's complete train wreck, it wasn't as painful to listen to and it didn't ruin the song. It could have been better, but there were a lot of good things about it.
My Score: 7

Caleb
Led Zeppelin's "Dazed and Confused"
His rock voice was out in dominant force on this song. I didn't love the song, even though it was a perfect song for him. He definitely rocked it out! He might be the first true rocker the show has ever had. Another great performance, and he continues to be the most consistent singer on the show, as well as one of the best vocalists.
My Score: 9

Jena
Evanescence's "Bring Me To Life" (one of my favorite songs, I think she might do really well with this)
I think this is probably her best performance. I know everyone raved over last week's performance, but I didn't think it was that great. This on the other hand was killer! I think she performed it really well and gave it the rock edge that it needed to have. She had some great, notes. I thought maybe the song would overpower her, but she was in control and matched the intensity of the band and the theatrics. Awesome!
My Score: 10

My Bottom 3: Majesty, C.J., Dexter
Most Likely will be the Bottom 3: Majesty, C.J., Dexter
My Pick to Go Home: Dexter
Most Likely will Go Home: Dexter

The Results:

Bottom 3: C.J., Majesty, Sam
What? No Dexter?! I'm screwed again! I stuck with my gut and kept Dexter going home instead of Majesty...even though part of me was saying it could be Majesty. I just can't win! And I thought there was a possibility that Sam might be in the bottom 3, but I thought it was a pretty slight chance...wrong!

Going Home: Majesty
I can't believe I blew it again! On the plus side, 2 of the other 3 people in my bracket had Majesty winning it all. I am now the only person who's pick to win it all (Caleb) is still in the competition and I can earn 10 big bonus points at the end if he wins! Fingers crossed, because it looks like I'm going to need it!

Survivor, Ep. 28.5

After Tribal
Needless to say there were a couple of really surprised people on the Solana tribe. Lindsay and Trish face off. Trish says she doesn't like Lindsay, and Lindsay said she is annoyed by everything about Trish: her laugh, her teeth, everything. Tony broke it up and said "we all know where we all stand". Lindsay made it pretty clear that she did not want to be with them. She really meant it because she wouldn't even sleep in the shelter with them. Next thing we know, she's all alone and Jeff comes to pay her a visit. This is NEVER good. She said she couldn't do it any more, and she was afraid she was going to flip out on Trish because she was antagonizing her. She said she didn't know what to do, other than quit. What a sissy way out. Seriously? You can avoid Trish if you wanted to. She didn't even have enough guts to tell her tribe...she made Jeff do it! Wow...that's pretty ridiculous. Tony said "two for the price of one" and LJ said "it was like a zit ready to pop". So many funny comments.

Poor Woo...now he's REALLY all alone. I sure hope he's not the next to go.

Reward Challenge
2 people face off, holding an idol. The goal is to knock the other person's idol off. Fist one to 4 points wins. Winner gets to raid the other camp.

Alexis and Kass sit out.

Spencer vs. Woo--Spencer wins for Aparri with an awesome move! I can't believe that worked.

Trish vs. Tasha--Trish scores for Solana after Tasha made a risky move and hers fell off.

Jefra vs. Sarah--Jefra lost her balance and Sarah scores for Aparri.

LJ vs. Jeremiah--LJ scores after Jeremiah made a Herculean try to save his idol, batting it in the air so many times before it fell.

Tony vs. Morgan--Tony scores for Solana

Spencer vs. Woo--Woo scores big and wins it for Solana; there was a lot of back and forth slaps, and I could tell there was no way Woo was going to let Spencer get him again...he meant busy.

The Voice, Ep. 6.10

The final night of the Battle Rounds, part 1...

Team Adam

Cary Laine vs. Sam Behymer - Ed Sheeran "Give Me Love"
I absolutely love Sam's voice. She is so unique. I don't really get much from Cary. Sam was really feeling it, and she was much more comfortable with the song. I think Sam wins this, hands down. Cary did have a nice ending to the song, though.
WINNER: Sam

Christina Grimmie vs. Joshua Howard - Taylor Swift "I Knew You Were Trouble"
WINNER: Christina

Team Blake

Kaleigh Glanton vs. Noah Lis - Michael Buble "Everything"
Noah sounds a lot like Michael Buble during certain parts of the song. I think he did an amazing job with the song. I love his voice. The song doesn't suit Kaleigh as well, but she also did really well. They also sounded and looked great as a couple. How cute were they?! They're the second duo who look like they would make a good couple. I don't think we've ever seen that on The Voice before. I love their little interactions during the song, they're totally believable as a couple in love. This is going to be a tough one.
WINNER: Kaleigh

Ryan Maloney vs. Cali Tucker - Tina Turner "What's Love Got To Do With It"
WINNER: Ryan

Team Shakira

Kristen Merlin vs. Lindsay Bruce - Reba McEntire "Turn On The Radio"
WINNER: Kristen

Cierra Mickens vs. Emily B. - Sara Bareilles "Brave"
This song seems like a perfect fit for Emily. As good as Cierra's voice is, she just didn't quite sound right on this song. Emily really commanded the song. Cierra tried to have some big moments, but I don't think it worked. I'm not really sure why. Together they sounded really good. Emily had a pretty big moment at the end of the song, and I think it surmounted the note that Cierra had at the end.
WINNER: Emily B.
USHER STEAL: Cierra

Team Usher

No Battles tonight.

Next week, the 2nd Battle Round will start. There will be one final chance for coaches to steal someone.

The Voice, Ep. 6.9

The Battles continue...

Team Adam

Austin Ellis vs. Josh Kaufman - Pharrell "Happy"
I really like Austin's voice. I feel like he totally mastered this song. Josh is very good also, but I don't get the same "awesome" factor from him. I think Austin did more with the song than Josh did. He performed the heck out of the song. Josh's big moment was a really high note, that I can't believe he hit. I loved the ending where they traded off "Hey"s and "Ha"s...that was cool.
WINNER: Josh

Dawn & Hawkes vs. Josh Murley - Stealers Wheel "Stuck in the Middle with You"
Josh's voice has grown on me and the more I hear of it, the more I like it. Dawn & Hawkes have great harmonies. Unfortunately, they are no Alex & Sierra. They're good, but they're not Alex & Sierra good. I feel like all 3 of them weren't having as much fun with the song as what Adam wanted them to have. It got a little boring, to be honest. I agree with the coaches, that none of them really stood out.
WINNER: Dawn & Hawkes
SHAKIRA STEAL: Josh

Team Blake

Alaska & Madi vs. Audra McLaughlin - Linda Ronstadt "When Will I Be Loved"
Not a fan of the song, but the 3 singers did a really good job with harmonizing. I think they would actually make an amazing trio, like the Dixie Chicks. Alaska & Madi sounded great together. Audra held her own as a soloist going against the duo. This was a pretty even matchup for me. I don't know that either one really stood out as being better than the other. So, I think it will come down to who Blake thinks he can work with going forward.
WINNER: Audra

Team Shakira

Dancing With The Stars, Ep. 18.2

Surprises in the ballroom tonight! There's a double elimination!

Drew & Cheryl - Jive
Look at Drew get down! It was very fast paced, and he seemed to keep up pretty well. He always has such a big smile on his face, and you can tell he's having fun. There wasn't a lot of leg action, so that could have been better. But other than that, it was pretty good. It was a little too loosy-goosy, so the judges might comment that he needs to tighten it up a bit and make it a little sharper.
Score: 21

Danica & Val - Samba
OK, she's just a natural, that's all there is to it. I think she is going to be good at every style. The Samba is usually hard, but she is killing it. Her emotions and face are matching the feel of the dance very well. There were some complicated steps and moves, and she handled them with ease. She looked amazing.
Score: 24

Billy Dee & Emma - Tango
Boy, the fans must love him for him to survive a double elimination! I don't get it...just not fair. There was a tad more movement this time around, but not much. This dance seemed to suit him a little better than the last one, but let's face it...there's a lot of standing going on.
Score: 15

Meryl & Max - Swing
I can't wait to see this, I think it's going to be awesome! He is throwing her around like she's a ragdoll! Lots of fun lifts and tricks! I love her personality coming out in this dance. She looks like she's having a blast! That was a tough routine and she did an amazing job with all those leg kicks and not to mention all of the throwing around Max did of her (he said he was too old for this).
Score: 25

Candace & Mark - Rumba
I love Candace's plans for the dance, and how she's approaching it. She looks amazing. I love the song that they picked...it's perfect for a Rumba. It was amazing and beautiful. The end was a little weird, and it looked like Mark was falling or something. But other than that, it was really good. I think it looked a lot like their Contemporary piece last week. It also seemed really short to me.
Score: 21

Amy & Derek - Swing
She looks so cute! Awesome Derek choreography...he is a genius...so talented! I cannot believe he was able to swing her and maneuver over her legs like that! Totally amazing. She did a great job...and her legs stayed on!
Score: 24

James & Peta - Salsa

Amazing Race, Ep. 24.5

Leg 5: Malaysian Borneo -> Sri Lanka
Jet & Cord lead it off, but almost all of the teams will be traveling on the same flight. Team Brenchel started about 4 hours behind, and the flight was closed by the time they got to the travel agent. Margie & Luke also didn't make it on the first flight, and they are going to try being on standby for the first flight, while Brenchel left to take a different flight that had a very risky 30 minute connection. Oh no...watch Margie & Luke make it on that first flight. They are trying to make it to the connection and they are running through the airport...and Brendon drops one of his bags, and he has to stop and go back for it. Meanwhile, they are closing the gate. Oh no! Somehow, they manage to make it just in time, and they are actually ahead of the other teams. Margie & Luke didn't make it on standby, so they have to take a later flight in the morning.

Brenchel arrives at the next stop ahead of all the rest of the teams, but they soon arrived as they were waiting for the gates of the temple to open.

As all teams (except Margie & Luke) are traveling in cabs to the Detour, they are all in danger! The cab-like vehicles they are traveling in are all just about hit by other vehicles. Everyone is swerving all over the place. Like idiots, the Cowboys and the Afghanimals are all waving their arms outside the vehicle, and I'm like "dudes...keep your arms inside or they're going to get ripped off!" I don't know how there were no accidents.

Detour: Fishing Pole or Spin Control
In Fishing Pole, they have to sit on stilts in the water and each team member has to catch a fish.
In Spin Control, they have to dance learn a dance while spinning plates.

Jessica & John, Dave & Connor, and Jet & Cord choose the Fishing Pole
Brendon & Rachel, Caroling & Jennifer, Leo & Jamal, and Flight Time & Big Easy choose the Spin Control.

Dave & Connor are the first to finish the fish task and Flight Time & Big Easy are the first to finish the Spin task.

Brendon is struggling with dropping his plates. Rachel was so encouraging to him, to keep pushing him to get it. After 14 attempts, they finally get it! Jessica & John were having trouble catching fish and they didn't know if they should switch tasks or not. The last time they switched was in their last race, and they were eliminated after doing so. Eventually, they did choose to switch.

Road Block: A Stitch in Time Saves Nine
One team member has to sew a shirt on a sewing machine.

Connor is worried about sewing...he hadn't sewn since junior high. Big Easy said it was the wrong decision to have him do it, and he decided to make it into a "Mission Impossible" task. Leo and Jet do the task for their respective teams. Jet has never sewn anything, while Leo has watched his mom do it many times. I'm thinking all these guys are going to be there awhile. This might allow Brendon & Rachel some breathing room while they do the Speed Bump.

Leo said he would give someone 1000 rupies if they would do it for him...no takers. He was being so silly, and he was flirting with some of the women sewers in the room. Big Easy said he would NOT being sewing again when he gets home...he'll leave it up to his fiance and his mother. Flight Time was getting bored waiting on Big Easy, so he was entertaining the other sewers by spinning the basketball and putting the ball on their fingers. Big Easy finished, and he joined in on the fun by making them all laugh as he tried to put on the tiny shirt.

Speed Bump: Brendon & Rachel
Pass with Flying Colors--they have to paint the flag on 15 shirts and get them approved. Rachel has done this technique before, so hopefully it won't take them too long. And, it doesn't. I don't think it cost them too much time.

I'm a little surprised that Brendon decided to do the task instead of Rachel. He seemed to struggle quite a bit, but Rachel was there to cheer him on. He did end up finishing before Big Easy, which was a pretty good accomplishment for him.

Leg 5 Standings
1. Dave & Connor
2. Caroline & Jennifer
3. Jet & Cord
4. Leo & Jamal
5. Jessica & John
6. Flight Time & Big Easy
7. Brendon & Rachel
8. Margie & Luke -- ELIMINATED

American Idol, Ep. 13.20 & 13.21

Top 10, Theme: Top of the Charts (any song in the top 10 from 2011 til now)

Lots of talk about song choice this week and how important it is (um duh!). Poor Ben Briley found that out the hard way last week. As did Majesty and Sam, who all ended up

MK
Pink's "Perfect"
Whoa, look at her hair this week! Another smart song choice for her (finally). Oh, how strange...they just TOTALLY copied the looking in the mirror thing that Michelle Chamuel did on The Voice, where they start out with the camera really close and then they pull away and show it's actually her in the mirror looking at herself. Her vocal was OK, but I wasn't blown away. At least it was an appropriate song, and it suited her style and vocal range. There were a few notes toward the end that were kind of bad and she had some awkward timing, but she ended on a good note. I love that J. Lo called her out for turning around and not facing the audience when she messed up. I love that Harry pointed out that he didn't know what kind of a show she would put on with songs that didn't sound like the original. He said this sounded like she was singing over top of the Pink version. Go Harry! Right on!
My Score: 5

Dexter
Florida Georgia Line "Cruise"
Ugh, I hate this song! It actually sounds a little better when he sings it. It's nice to see him lose the guitar and dress up a little bit. This showed a slightly different side of him...although it was still very country. I think it was good, but really is nothing different than you would hear on country radio. That's my complaint about most of country music: it all sounds the same and just about all sound the same. Boring! Again, way to go Harry! He called Dexter out for not doing anything different with the song and not being bigger than the song. What's also funny is that as harsh as "Harsh Harry" was being in saying that it wasn't a good performance, this would normally be when the crowd boos. J. Lo. booed loudly, and it still only drew a few slight boos from the crowd...apparently they all agree! There was even some clapping and cheering. That almost NEVER happens. Was Dexter so boring that no one was even paying attention to the critiques?
My Score: 7

Jena
Zedd's "Clarity"
This should be a pretty good song choice for her. But boy was I wrong! Yikes, that was awful! It was way too low for her in some spots. Then she was moving around and she was losing her breath and her notes were cracking all over the place. There wasn't anything about that that was good. How did Harry not jump all over her? He actually thought it was good. Sorry Harry...have to disagree with you on this one. And Keith said it was the best performance of the night? Well, from what we've seen, that still isn't saying much, but...um...no. I sure hope the judges go back and listen to this again, because they are all so wrong! I listened to it a 2nd time, and it actually wasn't too bad at the beginning, but at the end, it really wasn't good.
My Score: 5

Alex
One Direction's "The Story of My Life"
I love this song, and I can't wait to hear him sing it. That's one thing I love about Alex: I'm always excited to see what he's going to sing and how he's going to do it. I think he did a great version of this song. It could have been a little faster at the beginning, because I liked it a lot better when he got to the chorus and it picked up pace a little bit. I like all the little inflections he did with his voice. It added some character to the song that isn't in the original. Again, as the chameleon he is, he totally morphed into One Direction. I don't know how he can sound like so many different people! That's how it's done people. Some of the other contestants (Dexter) could learn a lot by taking some advice from Alex. Great performance! Biggest applause of the night.
My Score: 9

Malaya
Bruno Mars's "When I Was Your Man"
I love this song! She is truly growing every week. This was a very beautiful performance. It was borderline over the top in a couple places, but she really restrained herself nicely. The high notes at the end were really amazing. I'm starting to become a fan. If she keeps singing like this, she's going to make it to the end. Nicely done Malaya! Keith pointed out her control and how weeks ago, she would have have gotten really carried away.
My Score: 9

Caleb
Lady Gaga's "Edge of Glory"
First Adelle, now Lady Gaga. This is going to be amazeballs! He's finally branching out creatively these last 2 weeks, and he's stepped up his game and he's putting himself at the top of the pack. His vocals are always spot on, and his pitch is always great. I think he could have even taken it bigger, but it was still completely awesome. His range is incredible. And he has that amazing talent of being able to belt out a song with such force and yet he's SINGING it and not SCREAMING it. There IS a difference! I agree with Keith that it sounded like the song was lagging behind a little bit.
My Score: 9

C.J.
Hunter Hayes's "Invisible"
C.J. is really starting to bore me. I loved him so much in the auditions, but I'm just not excited to see him sing every week for some reason. He was better last week, but this week was a real snoozefest. I don't think he had the greatest vocal this week. I don't think the song suited his voice. He tried to lose the rasp and sing it a little more cleanly, and it just didn't really work. He sounded like he was really struggling with the notes. I don't think that one note was in tune. The judges have told him he sings out of tune, but I've never really noticed it until this song. I love that Harry cares so much about the contestants that he takes the time to really explain things they need to work on. (Funny side note: I like to read blogs about the performances right after the show to help me with my bracket picks. The TV Guide recap also called this a "snoozefest"! Whoa!)
My Score: 4

Jessica
Foster the People's "Pumped up Kicks"
Again, another really cool song choice! She is so versatile! I never imagined that she would even attempt to sing such different songs. She's another one that I'm always excited to see what she's going to do. She keeps it interesting! This had a really cool vibe. She added a little bit of country to it, and it kind of worked! I wasn't so sure at the beginning, but I really liked it. So much was made about the lyrics of the song. Hello...it's just a song, and Jessica didn't write it!
My Score: 8

Majesty
Avicii's "Wake Me Up"
MUCH better song choice than last week. The Majesty we fell in love with is back! This was a bazillion times better than last week's complete debacle. I love that she went back to the guitar...that's where she really shines. Everything in this performance was perfect. Her vocals were back and it was just so good! I think it was my favorite performance of the night.
My Score: 10

Sam
Fun.'s "We Are Young"
I like this song for him. I think this is going to be really good. I think the song was a little too big for him. He did a really good job though. It was a little bit too slow at the beginning, but once he got to the chorus, it got better. I like the note choices he made to change the song up a little bit.
My Score: 7

My Bottom 3: MK, C.J., Dexter
Most Likely will be the Bottom 3: MK, C.J., Dexter
My Pick to Go Home: MK
Most Likely will Go Home: MK

The Results

Bottom 3: Dexter, Majesty, MK
What the, what?! How the heck is Majesty in the bottom 3? She totally redeemed herself last night and there were others that were so bad! Ugh!

Going Home: MK

Oh my gosh...what drama! She says she thinks she's going to cry and then she asks for a minute to talk to the band. She has to ask what the first line of the song is. You've got to be kidding me! I can't even begin to tell you how upset I would be if they saved her. I have to say, the song she picked was her best performance of the competition and she did it well again. If she had sung like that last night, she probably wouldn't be going home. I can't believe the judges are taking so long. They have to know they have to keep the save for someone who is truly deserving. Whew! That was close!

Survivor, Ep. 28.4

After Tribal
Hugs all around. Spencer is so happy to still be in the game. Me too Spencer! Kass says it was a last minute switch and it just hit her that they would be back there in 3 days. Really?! DUH!!!!!

Brains Camp
Tasha is pretty confident they are going to win the next challenge. Yeah, we'll see about that.

Tribe Swap!
Drop your buffs! 2 new tribes, no more brains, beauties, or brawn. They pick hidden buffs and open them to look for a new color: orange or purple

New Aparri (orange): Spencer, Sarah, Tasha, Kass, Alexis, Jeremiah, Morgan
New Solana (purple): Jefra, Cliff, Woo, LJ, Tony, Trish, Lindsay

Sizing up the tribes:
  • All 3 former Brains are on the same tribe (I don't know if that's a good thing or not)
  • Sarah is the ONLY member of her original Brawn tribe...all the others are now on the other tribe (including her closest ally, Tony)
  • The Beauty tribe was pretty evenly split, 2 and 3, however LJ and Jefra are now 2 against 5 Brawns...yikes!

The Voice Ep. 6.8

The Battle Rounds continue...

Team Adam

Caleb Elder vs. Delvin Choice -Aloe Blacc "The Man"
I sure hope Caleb wins this battle, I love him! He's just so quirky and fun, and his voice is so good! But Delvin is good too! I love what Caleb did with the song. Delvin sounded more like the original song, while Caleb added something new and fresh to it. I didn't know how good these 2 would sound together, but they definitely made it work and it was really entertaining.
WINNER: Delvin

Team Blake

Megan Ruger vs. Ria Eaton - Avril Lavigne "Happy Ending"
We didn't get to see this performance, just a clip.
WINNER: Megan

Team Shakira

Clarissa Serna vs. Jeremy Briggs - Foreigner "Cold as Ice"
2 rockers going head to head. I love both of these 2, I don't know who I would pick.Great song choice, too, Shakira! They have some great chemistry together as they are kind of going at each other. They're both totally believable as the "villain". I really love Jeremy's voice. His high notes were so clear and strong. Clarissa has a voice that cuts like glass, but also has some grit to it. She sounds a little bit like Anastasia...I just picked up on that! They have great harmony, and the last part that was a capella, was incredible! I seriously don't know who Shakira is going to pick or who I would pick. I sure hope there's a steal!
WINNER: Clarissa

Doendyl vs. Lindsay Pagano - Carole King "I Feel the Earth Move"
We didn't get to see this performance, just a clip.
WINNER: Doendyl

Team Usher

Brothers  Walker vs. Morgan Wallen - Avicii "Hey Brother"
We didn't get to see this performance, just a clip.
WINNER: Morgan

Brittnee Camelle vs. Melissa Jimenez - Melanie Fiona "Give it to Me Right"
I could go either way with these 2. I kind of like them both, but something kind of bugs me about each of them, too. I think Brittnee had a great solo at the beginning. I think she had a lot of stronger parts than Melissa. That said, I really like Melissa's voice. I thought they ended up blending very well. I think Brittnee was stronger through most of the song, but Melissa came on pretty strong at the end, and had a huge last note to overpower Brittnee.
WINNER: Melissa
ADAM STEAL: Brittnee
Adam and Shakira both tried to steal, but she chose Adam

Dancing With The Stars, Ep. 18.1

Welcome to Season 18 of Dancing With The Stars! This season is going to be a different one that's for sure. There are lots of changes coming this season:

  1. Partner switch--at some point in the season, viewers will vote on new pairings, that may or may not last for more than just one week.
  2. New voting--votes cast the previous week will be added to the judges' scores from the previous week. Last season, the judges' scores from the current week were added to the previous week, which some thought gave the judges the final say in who went home.
  3. New co-host--Erin Andrews (former DWTS finalist) is replacing Brooke Burke-Charvet
  4. New band--out is Harold Wheeler and his band, and in is Ray Chew (from American Idol and The Singing Bee)
  5. The return of Maks!
  6. New theme nights--rumored themes: Party Anthems night, American Icons and Disney
  7. New and more guest judges--they experimented with some guest judges in the past, and moreso last season, and there are rumors of even more this season, with as many as 1 new judge per week (in addition to the 3 permanent judges)
  8. New ballroom look--bigger screen behind the stage, a smaller stage for more intimate dances, and the skybox is returning (boo!)
Let's get to the dancing!

NeNe & Tony - ChaChaCha
Girl's got attitude, there's no doubt about it. She's also got some moves. I kind of thought she might, but you just never know. Her legs could be a little quicker, but her hips and upper body can really move. Not bad.
Score: 21

James & Peta - Foxtrot
So, OK, can you say "awkward"?! Apparently they went out, he went on tour and she never heard from him again until he walked through the door as her partner. That's another new twist for the season! As for the dancing...he's hot, he's a musician, so of course he's going to be a great dancer. Doesn't always happen, but 99% of the time it does, and that's the case here.
Score: 21

Danica & Val - Foxtrot
How cute are they together?! She's a total natural. She looks like the type of person who just is good at everything she tries and she makes it look so easy. She looked like she was having a blast. I loved the upbeat and more current music for the foxtrot. Normally, this dance calls for all the old style music. That was fun!
Score: 24

Sean & Cheryl - Contemporary
I don't know what to think about this guy. He kind of scares me a little. He looks like the evil villain from the movies. And his face is so tight, he looks like he's had a lot of work done. His contemporary was pretty stiff, but he pulled off the big lifts very easily. It seemed a bit rushed at times and you could see him thinking a little too much. There's some potential there for sure. I don't know if he will be able to win people over with any kind of likability factor.
Score: 20

Billy & Emma - ChaChaCha
God bless Emma, that poor girl. The guy is ancient. But, she was able to work wonders on Bill and work to all his strengths, so it's no surprise that she pulls out lots of Star Wars props for his first dance. He can move even less than I thought he would be able too. This just isn't fair...someone who can't move at all should not even be asked to be on the show. I mean, the guy is 77 and has had 2 hip replacements...come on! Not only is it not fair for his pro, to the other celebrity dancers, and just the competition in general, it's also a safety and health concern for him. Good for him, I guess, to want to try this, but Ugh! That's all I can say.
Score: 15

Meryl & Maks -ChaChaCha
Maks is in heaven right now with having her as his partner. Of course, she was very good. There was no question about that. Her one spin looked a little weird, she looked like she was a little crooked or off-balance. But other than that, it was fun and energetic.
Score: 24

Candace & Mark - Contemporary

The Voice, Ep. 6.7

Let the Battles begin! This is one of my favorite, and also my most nervous, parts of The Voice. The Battles are always absolutely amazing duets, and I love seeing what the coaches come up with. But...this is also when some really good singers start going home :(

Team Adam
Guest Mentor: Aloe Blacc

Kat Perkins vs. Patrick Thomson - Kenny Loggins and Stevie Nicks "Whenever I Call You Friend"
I so want Kat to win this battle. I'm just not a fan of Patrick at all. He's a decent singer, but I'm not blown away by any means. Kat is special. She has such a special voice, and she has so much control of her instrument. I think Kat really shined. Patrick really struggled with the high notes and it sounded like he was singing with sand in his throat. It just sounded gross. I've heard them say it sounded like you gargled with glass, when someone has a really gritty and raspy voice. But his sounded like he just didn't was sick or something. My winner was Kat without a doubt.
WINNER: Kat
SHAKIRA STEAL: Patrick

Team Blake
Guest Mentor: The Band Perry

Jake Worthington vs. Lexi Luca - Thomas Rhett "It Goes Like This"
I just don't care for Jake at all. I don't think he improved from the last time he auditioned. I don't know why the judges love him so much. Lexi was a little shaky on her first couple notes. I'm hoping she can gather her nerves and blow Blake away. Her first solo was pretty good, but I'm afraid it's not good enough. They sound really good when they sing together, but I'm not blown away by either of them by themselves. I'm afraid Jake was just a little more consistent with his voice, even though he didn't look as comfortable as Lexi did. I don't know if it's her normal voice to be so shaky, or if it was all nerves. I think Jake has this one. Ooh, but Blake called out Jake for flubbing the lyrics!
WINNER: Jake

Paula Deanda vs. Sisaundra Lewis - Lady Gaga "Do What You Want"
This song is more in Paula's wheelhouse, but Sisaundra is handling it well. I'm definitely more of a fan of Paula, but I don't see Blake losing someone like Sisaundra who has such a big and powerful voice. I really love Paula's voice on this song. They sound better together than I thought they would. Sisaundra seemed to be a little pitchy, while Paula seemed right on. But, whoa, huge notes from both at the end! Killer battle!
WINNER: Sisaundra

Team Shakira
Guest Mentor: Miranda Lambert (aka Blake's wife)

Dani Moz vs. Deshawn Washington - Emeli Sande "My Kind Of Love"
I absolutely love this song...it's one of my favorites right now! I wouldn't think of putting these two together, but somehow it really works. I love their interaction together on stage. I think the song suited Dani better, but Deshawn performed it really well. I think they both could have even taken the song further than they did. But that said, it was still a really awesome performance. I think Dani was a little stronger.
WINNER: Dani

Team Usher
Guest Mentor: Jill Scott

Biff Gore vs. T.J. Wilkins - The Temptations "Ain't Too Proud To Beg"
I think these two are so evenly matched, and they sound really good together. They both have huge voices. Biff is a little more deep, and T.J. is a little more light and sweet. But both are extremely talented. Biff does a bit more theatrically, so I think he might have the edge. T.J. is a little more my style, so he would be my pick. I think Usher will pick Biff. The judges were impressed, so will we see a steal?
WINNER: T.J.
BLAKE STEAL: Biff

Jake Barker vs. Stevie Jo - Steve Winwood "Higher Love"
Such an interesting song choice for them. Usher's always thinking outside of the box--I love it! I love them both so much as individuals and just as much together. I really don't want to lose either of them. There better be a steal after this one or I'm going to be upset. It's crazy how much their voices sound alike when they are singing in unison. Their pitch was exactly the same! I think I like what Jake did a little more than Stevie, but oh, it's so close! I love that Adam just said that they both win because whoever Usher didn't pick, will be on his team. He literally didn't care which one of them get picked because he loved them both so badly. YES!!!
WINNER: Stevie
ADAM STEAL: Jake
Shakira also tried to steal, and then Blake got in on the action. Oh my! But ultimately, he made the right choice and picked Adam.

Amazing Race, Ep. 24.4

Leg 4: Malaysian Borneo
Dave & Connor lead it off.

Road Block: Leaps and Bounds
Task: perform a ceremonial bounce on a wooden trampoline and try to jump and get a flag. The natives are bouncing them, as they have to jump at the right time to get the flag (it's adjusted according to their height).

Connor got it right away, while it took Leo a couple jumps. Cord was really struggling...it took him 47 tries! Luckily, they were still in 3rd, and were leaving just as Margie & Luke were arriving.

Only 3 teams can make the first flight to Kuala Lampur (which strangely enough is where the missing plane in the news is from).

Jessica was really struggling and couldn't get the rhythm down. She had to stop because her feet started bleeding, and when they showed her feet, they were all blistered. Poor girl! She finally got it, as they left in 7th place.

Last there were Brendon & Rachel. She was wearing pantyhose and that was making her slip. She had to stop to take them off! Who races in pantyhose?

Margie & Luke and Flight Time & Big Easy made it on the 2nd flight. The flight ended up being delayed 50 minutes, and the 3rd flight ended up being the 2nd flight! Only a few minutes were separating them.

Detour: Mix Master or Master Mix

The Voice, Ep. 6.6

Last of the Battle Rounds...each of the coaches only have 1 spot left to fill

Team Adam

Caleb Elder
He said he wanted to work with Adam, and as the only coach who had 1 spot to fill, he got lucky. He had a real cool charisma on stage. It didn't take long for Adam to turn around. I like his voice, and he was kind of quirky and different. He reminded me of the one guy from Adam's team last season with the glasses. This guy has everything: he's cute and has a very cool voice. I loved the fun things he did with his voice at the end, and how he just had fun dancing around the stage. He looked so comfortable up there. I think he's going to be fun to watch.

Team Blake

Kaleigh Glanton
I really like her voice, and so did Adam because he turned around right away for her. I don't know what it was about it, but it was just really cool. The song choice was really interesting, and the way she sang it was really interesting and I almost didn't recognize it. Blake and Usher also turned around at the end, too.

Team Shakira

Lindsay Bruce
I love the tone of her voice. She's very good. A little too country for me, but she's very talented. Both Adam and Shakira turned around. I know if Blake had a spot left, he would have turned, too.

Team Usher

Brittnee Cemelle
She started out so softly you cold hardly hear her. The low notes were pretty weak and shaky. Once she got to the chorus, she was really strong. Then she hit some really strong high notes as well. She must have just been really nervous at the beginning. Usher turned around about halfway through and then Shakira pulled an Usher by hitting her button at the very last second.

Next week, the Battle Rounds start!

The Voice, Ep. 6.5

Team Adam

Kat Perkins
She's a rockin' nanny! Whoa! Her voice cuts like glass. It's so crystal clear, and then at times she's got some grit in it too. Absolutely perfect pitch. I really like her. She got chair turns from Adam, Shakira and Usher.

Josh Kaufman
I didn't expect him to have that type of voice. He had a nice upper register, even though he started out a little lower. The more he sang, the more I liked him. He got 4 chairs!

Team Blake

Paula Deanda
She comes in already a recording artist who had a couple albums and was dropped by her label. I hate the song she picked. I don't think it showed how good she could be. I wasn't overly impressed with any parts of it, and I didn't think the high notes that Shakira and Blake turned for were that good. I'm glad the coaches noticed that they weren't so good. So, apparently they think they can fix those problems.

Alaska & Madi
It sure didn't take Adam long to turn around for this country duo. I think they are both strong singers and they have a really good harmony. Their voices blend well. I wasn't blown away, but they were good. Of course Blake had to turn around as well to get in on the action.

Ria Eaton
Parts of her voice I really liked, parts of it were a little annoying. I don't think she is going to be very versatile, and I don't think she can take down some of the other singers we've heard. She did a couple cool things with the song. I'm a little surprised that Blake and Shakira turned their chairs at the very last second.

Team Shakira

Cierra Mickens
She did a very awesome and surprising version of Cee Lo's "Crazy". I have to say I think I almost liked it better than the original! I don't usually like singers like her, but man, she is awesome! I love what she did with the song and she gave me "goosies" as J. Lo would say. She sang it so well, that her power was NOT screaming, like so many singers like her tend to do. She got 3 chair turns by Blake, Shakira, and Usher. I can't believe Adam didn't go for her too!

Doendyl
She has a really interesting voice. Shakira turned right away after only a few notes. She sounds a little like Norah Jones. She has a lot of different sounds in her voice. She's interesting...for now...but I think I could get tired of hearing her voice week after week.

Team Usher

Jake Barker
Great song choice! Before he even started singing, I had a feeling he was going to be Usher's type of artist, and what do you know, Usher is the first to turn around. I love his voice and his personality. He has a great falsetto, and whoa, those high notes! He's also got a little bit of R&B soul in him too. Eventually, Adam and Shakira were smart enough to turn around too! Yay! One of my favorites so far this season!

American Idol, Ep. 13.18 & 13.19

Top 11, Theme: Music from the Movies

Sam
Beatles "Come Together" from Across The Universe
No guitar for Sam this week. It's nice to hear him sing something a little more upbeat this week. He also moved around the stage more this week, which was nice to see. His voice sounded great, but unfortunately, it was a little boring for me. I'm not a huge fan of this song, and this song has been done SO MANY times. He really didn't add anything new to the song.
My Score: 7

Jessica
"Sound of Silence" from the Graduate
I don't know this song, but I'm really liking her performance. Her voice sounds amazing tonight! Yet again, another side to Jessica. Her voice had a completely different tone on this song. It's just amazing what a chameleon she is. Her voice just adapts to whatever genre she's singing. I loved this performance! My only complaint is that it wasn't long enough!
My Score: 9

C.J.
"Can't You See" from Blow
Oh no, the terrible hat is back. I hate that hat! But I love his performance! He looked like he was having a lot of fun, and he looked more comfortable than he normally does. It was a really good performance, but it didn't stand out as "awesome" to me. I'm a little surprised he got a standing ovation.
My Score: 8

Dexter
"Sweet Home Alabama" from Forrest Gump (and Sweet Home Alabama)
This is a song right up his alley. Pretty predictable, but you can't fault the guy for knowing what he can sing well. The downside is that this song has been done so many times. There are so many covers, and it's been done a lot on Idol, too. He did absolutely nothing original with the song, which could have made it a more standout performance. As good as this was, I'm still waiting for him to do something outside of his comfort zone, and take something you wouldn't think of him singing and do it in a new way.
My Score: 7

Ben
"Bennie and the Jets" from 27 Dresses
I love that he made a joke about never seeing the movie. Ooh, he's playing the piano! That's a new one for him. He changed up his look too, going for a more professional look, and losing the ball cap. He showed so much more personality than he has on any other song. All of those things going for him, and his voice has never sounded better. He nailed all those high falsetto notes like they were nothing. My favorite performance of his so far!
My Score: 9

Survivor, Ep. 28.3

After Tribal
Morgan confronts Jeremiah about him going against her and Brice. He said his first alliance was with LJ, Alexis, and Jefra. In the shelter, she told Alexis that Jeremiah was going after LJ and her. Alexis thinks there's some truth to what she's saying, so she thinks she needs to watch out for Jeremiah.

Brains Camp
Time to practice for the challenge. Tree mail basically told them they would have to be blindfolded and have to listen to directions (a challenge we've seen before). So, they again decided to practice. This challenge is just for reward and they are hoping for some food, since J'Tia dumped all their rice.

Reward Challenge
Reward: first team gets 3 hens and a rooster, second team gets a dozen eggs

Woo and Sarah sit out for Brawn, and Morgan sits out for Beauty.

Spencer and Kass are tied together and blindfolded. They seem to be working well together. Beauties are doing a good job, but they are having a hard time hearing the caller. Brawn and Brains collide! Lots of guys walking right into posts...in that one spot you don't want to get hit! These callers are so worried about giving directions that they aren't telling them to avoid the obstacles!

Beauty and Brains are tied with 5 items collected, while Brawn has 4. Brains drop their 5th item, leaving the way open for the Beauties to collect their last item.

And it's Beauty for the win. Brains have their last item and it falls off the lift again! Brawn gets their last item and Lindsey takes a really hard hit on the way back to the platform. J'Tia is freaking out as Kass and Spencer can't get their item up. Brawn gets their item pulled up AHEAD of Brains. Wow, Brains had it right in their grasp. Bummer.

The Bachelor...After the Bizarre Finale

So, my friend Amy knows that I always have the latest scoop on things, and she wanted some dish about what went on behind the scenes of The Bachelor finale, and the After The Final Rose. I checked in with the blogs I follow, and rather than just repeat what they said, I'm just going to repost the links here so you can read them for yourself.

RealitySteve gives some answers to the biggest questions of the night:

1) What did Juan Pablo say to Clare in the helicopter?
2) What surprise was Chris Harrison promoting all episode that never happened?
3) What happened two weeks ago that gave Juan Pablo and Nikki a “change of plans” in their relationship?
4) Why wasn’t Neil Lane in St. Lucia?
5) So did Juan Pablo ever have any intention of proposing to anyone this season?
6) Do you think Chris Harrison was too hard on Juan Pablo and Nikki last night?
7) Do you think Juan Pablo loves Nikki?
8) Do you think Nikki is in love with Juan Pablo?

Read the whole article, including the first preview you'll see with 9 of Andi's guys, here.

So, there you go Amy...now you know just as much as I know!

The Bachelor, Ep. 18.10: Finale and After The Final Rose

Episode Summary:
  • Juan Pablo chooses Nikki, but he doesn't propose

Family Meet-and-Greet in St. Lucia
Juan Pablo's entire family: brother, sister, niece. cousin, his mom and dad and of course Camila.

Clare is up first. The first introduction with Camila was a little awkward. Camila didn't even seem to recognize she was in the room, even though she was like a foot away from her and Juan Pablo pointed to her. I think his family thought she was crazy when she said her mother was Mexican and her whole family speaks Spanish, but she doesn't and only understands a little bit. I still don't understand how you grow up with that much of a Spanish background and are that clueless about the language.

Juan Pablo's mom told Clare that he is hyperactive and is sometimes rude. Clare said that even though they had a disagreement, but they communicated and it was all OK. I wouldn't exactly call what they did as perfect communication. They seemed to talk in circles forever.

His cousin talked to Clare and afterward, he told JP that she is very in love with him and they both agreed that she was very ready to be married and have a family.

His dad was very sweet and he even told her that he loved her and that even if it didn't work out with them that he would think of her. Wow.

Nikki arrives with flowers for his mom. She sat next to Juan Pablo, who was holding Camila on his lap. She looked so bored, as she stared off into space while Nikki was talking. I don't think Camila really thinks much of these 2.

She talked to his dad, and he thought she was honest and that she would be able to handle Juan Pablo.

His mom asked her what they would do on the weekends. Nikki said that she knows that he has Camila on the weekends and she could see them going to the beach and playing games. His mom asked her if she was in love, and Nikki said "yes". "Are you sure?" "Yes."

His cousin asked her how much fighting she can take because he tends to walk away when thinks things are getting difficult. She said she wasn't worried about the fighting, and that she was ready to see what the future holds.

I have to say I'm definitely Team Nikki. I know A LOT of the girls had some not nice things to say about her after the show, but I think Nikki is the better choice. Clare is just annoying, and I think his relationship with her is more superficial than his relationship with Nikki.

The fans in the live audience brought up the fact that the family was kind of warning both Nikki and Clare, and none of them seemed super sure about how ready he is for marriage. They also weren't shy about the fact that he is brutally honest, often rude, and tends to walk away when things get difficult. Red flags going up all over if his family is saying these kinds of things. His mom even said "I'm pretty sure he's ready". Yikes!

Final Date with Clare

Amazing Race, Ep. 24.3

Leg 3: China -> Malaysian Borneo

2 flights to Borneo, but only 6 teams can make it on the first flight. There is a 3-hour difference between the flights. Since all of the teams finished the last leg only minutes apart, no one can dilly dally.

Somehow Margie & Luke and Dave & Connor beat Brendon and Rachel to the airport, even though Team Brenchel left first. The Cowboys and the Globetrotters also make it, followed by the Country Singers. Where is Team Brenchel? They are stuck in traffic. Yikes! One spot left and it goes to the Afghanimals. Darn it! Brendon and Rachel show up minutes later...bummer!

Road Block: Face the Falls
Task: Repel 10 stories down a water fall to get a gnome and a clue

Dave & Connor are first there, and first to finish. Cord missed the clue because he was looking on the wrong side, so he had to start over.

Joey & Meghan (who were in the 2nd group), forgot to tell their taxi to wait, so they were in trouble because they were already in last place. They had to walk up the road until they could find a taxi.

Detour: River Delivery or Jungle Run
In River Delivery, they have to build a raft and take a box of supplies down the river. In Jungle Run, they have to go through the jungle with a blow-dart to get a bird (each team member had to knock down a fake bird out of the tree), and then go down the river. Both tasks go down the same river and they have to follow signs and read their clue to know which signs to follow. This proved very confusing for some.

The first few teams all chose the Delivery. Margie & Luke had trouble communicating on their raft and they started floating away. Leo & Jamal make their delivery first, and instead of lying they actually tell Jet & Cord that they made it to the right place.

On their way back, the Afgahnimals' raft got stuck and then started to fall apart as they hit really rough water. The Cowboys floated past them. Caroline & Jennifer also got into trouble when one of them almost lost a finger.

Dave & Connor missed where they were supposed to get off. So, they had to carry their heavy box way back up river to get to the drop-off.

Flight Time & Big Easy and Caroline & Jennifer chose the Jungle Run. They were having a blast dancing with the locals after successfully shooting their birds.

Jessica & John and Brendon & Rachel make it to the Detour together. Jessica & John finish their raft quickly, but it looks like it's falling apart even before they got it to the water. I don't see any way how that it is going to stay together when they get to the rough water. But somehow, Brendon & Rachel's falls apart first, and theirs looked so much better. Oh no, Brendon & Rachel got separated when their raft fell apart and Brendon started floating down the river, and then Rachel lost the rest of their raft. Seriously?! I don't want them to be eliminated already...especially before Joey & Meghan. They go to shore, and Brendon takes off down the river to retrieve the parts and they managed to put it back together.

Jessica & John had a really good strategy for shooting their birds. The person not shooting let the blow-dart rest on their shoulder to keep it steady. Jessica got hers very quickly, but it took John quite awhile to get his.

Brendon gets his bird, but Rachel was having trouble getting hers. In the meantime, Joey & Meghan were catching up...but their raft started falling apart! Yes!

Leg 3 Standings:
1. Dave & Connor
2. Jet & Cord
3. Leo & Jamal
4. Margie & Luke
5. Flight Time & Big Easy
6. Caroline & Jennifer
7. Jessica & John
8. Brendon & Rachel
9. Joey & Meghan--Eliminated

Dancing With The Stars, Season 18 Cast

Season 18 of Dancing With The Stars is set to premiere on Monday, March 17. A few changes have already been announced, as well as the new cast. The first change is that Brooke Burke-Charvet is out as Tom Bergeron's co-host, and Erin Andrews is taking her place. Erin is a Dancing With The Stars alumni. She was partnered with Maks on Season 10, and she came in 3rd. Her regular gig is a Fox Sports host.

Another change is that Harold Wheeler and his 28-member band are also out. They have been with the show for all 17 of the previous seasons. It was announced that the new band leader was going to be Ray Chew, so live music will still be a part of the show. The past few seasons, they have experimented by having a musical guest perform for some of the dances, so I'm guessing we'll see more of that. Last year I noticed that they were playing a few original recordings of the songs instead of having the band butcher and mangle them beyond recognition. I hope we hear more recordings like that and no more recreations of the songs. I won't mind if they want to bring in some current (and I can't emphasize enough "CURRENT") musicians to perform as well.

On Monday when the cast was announced, a new twist was also announced. This season, at some point, the fans will vote on the pro/star pairs, and it's possible that some people could switch partners. Won't that be interesting! This twist could have REALLY helped out some people in the past (*cough*, Tristan, *cough*).

So without further ado, here are your Season 18 cast members:

The Voice, Ep. 6.4

The Blind Auditions continue...

Team Adam
Adam didn't pick up any singers in this round.

Team Blake
Megan Ruger
Pink is the perfect thing for her to sing. Just from looking at her, you know she's a rocker. Her voice is definitely a rocker. She could really belt it out. Blake and Usher both turned around at the very last minute.

Audra McLaughlin
She has a beautiful country voice, that surprisingly caught Adam's ear within just a few seconds. Blake finally pushed his button and Shakira pushed it about 2/3 of the way through. And then Usher pushed his at the last second.

Team Shakira
Emily B.
Wow, I really like her voice. It took me quite awhile to recognize what song she was singing because it sounded so different. Her voice is really crystal clear and that long note she held out was ridiculous. She got a 3-chair turnaround from Shakira, Blake and Usher. I don't know why Adam wouldn't have pushed his button because she would have been a great addition to his team.

Team Usher

Morgan Wallen
He barely sang 2 notes and Shakira turned around. He had me just because he sang Howie Day...one of my all-time favorite singers. He's a really cool dude. He didn't sound anything like Howie, but that's OK. He made it his own, and it was great. His voice sounds way older than he looks and I know the coaches are going to be blown away when they see him. His performance wasn't perfect, but he's got so much potential, and I know whoever he ends up with will really be able to help him. Usher finally joined in and hit his button, and that's who he went with.

Stevie Jo
Ooh, I really love his sound! Again, his voice doesn't match what he sounds like. He's got some soul, R & B, pop, and a few other things as well. I love that Usher pushed his button at a point where he was like "ooh, there it was". He's got a really nice range, and he can hit some really high notes. Usher was the only turnaround, and the others were shocked because I'm assuming they all thought he was black. Yep...they totally thought he was not a white dude.

The Voice, Ep. 6.3

The Blind Auditions continue...

Team Adam
Sam Behymer
She sang Lorde's "Royals" and she sounds pretty much just like the original. Right down to the way she pronounces the words. She's got a few more annoying things where she trails up at the end of her notes a few too many times in the song. She does have a pretty unique sound (other than Lorde), and she did do a few different things to the song to make it her own. She's pretty quirky, so it's easy to see why she got Usher and Adam to turn around.

Patrick Thomson
Very interesting voice, I did not expect that from him. It's very scratchy and gravely. He's got a lot of sould. I could see him singing a lot of different things. He is really good, and he got both Blake and Adam to turn around.

Team Blake
Ryan Whyte Maloney
He's a little bit rock and a little bit country. I like it! He's got great pitch, and a great vibe. He got 3 chairs right away. Usher didn't turn around until the very last second!

Sisaundra Lewis
Whoa, those earrings are about 500x too big. Her voice is just as big as those earrings. It was a lot of shouting to me, though, but of course the coaches will disagree. All of the coaches turned around.

Team Shakira
Deshawn Washington
He has a very old, classic sound from old Motown. He's good, but nothing really stands out as really unique about him. It took awhile for anyone to turn around, and eventually, Shakira is the only one to turn around.

Clarissa Serna
I totally did not expect that voice! She looked all sweet and quiet, and then she comes out with this HUGE rock voice singing (I think) The Cranberries' "Zombie". And it was totally amazing! I loved it! Shakira was standing up and rocking out in her chair. She also got Adam and Blake to turn around, and Usher AGAIN at the very last second!

Team Usher

Brothers Walker (Cody and Clint Walker)
They are twins! I love seeing the coaches' faces when they realize there are 2 voices. I really love the way they compliment each other. They remind me a lot of the Swon Brothers. They were really good and I can't believe everyone waited so long to turn around. Usher pushed his button at the very last second with his foot! Oh my goodness! I can't believe that Blake didn't turn around!

Melissa Jimenez
She took a risk starting off a capella. It was a really strong opening, I kind of wish she would have done the whole thing in a capella. I didn't love her performance (mainly because of her song choice), but she has a really good voice. She got Shakira's attention when she started singing in Spanish. Shakira and Usher both pushed their button at the very last second.

Survivor, Ep. 28.2

So sorry this is a day late! It's been KILLING me not knowing who was voted out last night! I have avoided all social media all day long, and that was so hard! I can't wait to see what happens...here we go!

Brains Camp
The day after, Spencer was reeling after Garrett's blindside at Tribal. He couldn't believe that the tribe was willing to keep someone who dumped all their rice over Garrett. He is going to have a giant hill to climb to keep himself alive on this tribe. Kass rationalized her decision as saying that you can replace rice.

Treemail tells the tribe what they will be doing for their challenge, and that the winner will win something to improve their shelter. Tasha said that the first thing they need to do is practice for their challenge. The others were worried about eating and drinking water because they were dehydrated. So, they go out into the water with some coconut bowls and they practice tossing water and catching it in the bowls like the treemail said. Will it work? Seems like a good idea to me if the challenge is anything similar to what they were practicing.

Brawn Camp
Tony is a little crazy! He says he doesn't trust anyone (understandable). He said it's only "me, myself, and I, and my idol, there's 4 of us." Lol! Tony decided to tell Sarah the truth about him being a cop. He said they should call themselves "Cops-R-Us", and Sarah said they are partners in crime.  He lied to her about things he's heard other people say just to get her on his side. He said that Lindsey and Cliff were talking about Sarah being the smart one. He even did an impression of both Lindsey and Cliff to make it more believeable. Yeah, this plan can't fail...

And then the rains come, and they all look so miserable already! It looks like a monsoon! There is so much wind and rain. You know it's bad when the skin starts to peel off from being wet. Most people are really struggling, but Woo is like "this is what Survivor is about baby!"

Beauty Camp
As a tribe, they are really struggling emotionally with the horrible weather conditions. The guys worked hard to reinforce their shelter (even Brice!)...while the girls didn't really do anything.

Being wet and not having anything else to do, LJ thought back to the first day when they arrived at camp and Morgan was out in the water by the rocks. He still thinks she got a clue to the idol, so he decided to go look to see if he could find anything. Sure enough, right in the water, there it was! Yay! He's my favorite on the Beauty tribe, so I'm psyched that he's the one who found it!

American Idol, Ep. 13.16 & 13.17

Top 12, Theme: Home

Jena
"Suddenly I See" by K.T. Tunstall
This is such a fun song, and I think she performed it very well. There were a couple times at the beginning that it sounded like her voice faded in and out, but other than that, she was strong, and her notes were right on pitch. I liked it! I think it's one of her better performances.
My Score: 9

Alex
"I Don't Want To Be" by Gavin DeGraw
Love Gavin DeGraw! And this is a perfect choice for him to do. He actually sounded a little like Gavin in parts of the songs. I'm finding out that Alex is a chameleon. He can sound like every singer he's doing. Last week he was Jason Mraz and this week he was Gavin DeGraw. I think he's so talented, and he's growing every week. I loved this performance, I think he did an amazing job with a song that a lot of people don't do justice. I loved the vibe he had, it was so cool and funky. I really, really loved this! I don't know what the judges were thinking with their critique on this one.
My Score: 10

Jessica
"White Flag" by Dido
This is such a great song, one of my favorite Dido songs. Jessica really picks songs from all over the spectrum, doesn't she?! One week, she's as country as you can get, last week she did a big rock song, and now she's doing pop. I love that she's so versatile. She sounds great singing each style. Her voice sounded so different on this song because I'm so used to the original. But, I dug it. I think she had a pretty good performance. It might not have been my favorite (last week was my favorite), but this was still really good. I love that she hit the high note. I don't think we've heard her even attempt a note that high before. There was just something tiny that didn't sound quite right, and the judges pointed that out.
My Score: 8

Dexter
"Lucky Man" by Montgomery Gentry
This week was a much better performance for him than last week. Vocally it was good, and his performance was pretty good too. I didn't love it, just because I don't know the song, and it's country. Sorry. There wasn't really anything that stood out about it, it was just good.
My Score: 7

Emily
"Let's Get Loud" by Jennifer Lopez
I didn't know if she would be able to pull off this loud and fast party anthem, but she totally sold it! It was really fun, and she had a great stage presence throughout. Her pitch didn't suffer too much with all the moving she did moving around the stage. I liked hearing her throw in some of the Spanish. She had a really big moment at the end with some power and she nailed the big, high notes.
My Score: 8

Caleb
"Working Man" by Rush
I don't think Caleb can have a bad performance. I didn't know this song, so I didn't connect to it as much as some of his other performances. Still, he's a true performer. He knows who he is and what he does well, and just goes out there and does it. I would like to see him make some more interesting choices, and take some well known songs and change them up and surprise us. I feel like he's pretty predictable. Except for that ending where he fell down...that was kind of surprising. Oh my...as I'm typing this, Harry just said he was predictable!
My Score: 8

The Bachelor, Ep. 18.9

Women Tell All

I think we're in store for a lot of crazy!

Right off the bat, the group conversation had a much different feel than most WTA's. The girls all agreed how incredibly hot Juan Pablo is, but that's kind of where the compliments ended. The consensus from the group: he didn't ask a lot of questions about them and a lot of their conversations were surface level and weren't very deep. Renee and Cassandra said that many of their conversations with JP didn't go beyond talking about their kids. Other points of agreement among the ladies was that he used Camila as an excuse when he wasn't feeling it with someone. His "rule" changes also had many of the girls confused, and they found it made him very hard to relate to. He used different rules with different girls and for different reasons.

Amazing Race, Ep. 24.2

Leg 2: China

1st Clue
Cowboys have a language barrier...a Chinese guy tells them 50 minutes and they think he said 15 minutes to run to the location..uh oh! Luckily they ask again and the guy says "really far"...but apparently they still didn't understand and they keep running! The Afgahnimals decide to work with Mark & Mallory because they loved Bopper and were fans of Mallory and her dad. All the other teams decide to take the Metro. This isn't looking good for the Cowboys. 3rd times a charm, and they finally get a cab. However, from 1st place to last place, they are last to get their clue. They literally arrive just a little bit behind Caroline & Jennifer, who WERE in last place when they started the leg. BUT they did get a cab before the girls.

Road Block: Child's Play
Task: put together a toy car

Dave is sure he'll have it together in no time because he has a lot of children and grandchildren. The problem is the instructions are all in Chinese and there are a lot of tiny parts.

All of the teams were having fun interacting with all of the children who were playing around them while they were trying to put the toys together. Some of them were really a distracting, and they were actually hindering the putting-together process.

One consolation for the Cowboys was that they did arrive before any of the teams had finished building their toy...with still no sign of the girls.

Mark was the first one to finish his toy, and he and Mallory were off to deliver their toy. But oh no! She left Mark's bag as they were trying to get their car in the trunk of the cab. He didn't see it and she thought he would grab it.

Finally, the girls show up and they aren't sure who should do it. Ultimately, Caroline decides to do it, but she complains the whole time that she hates assembling things. Jennifer talked to Cord along the sidelines and was hinting that she would like them to give her their 2nd Express Pass.

Jet thinks he's finished already, and he is! They passed up Flight Time & Big Easy, Joey & Meghan and John & Jessica. Before the Cowboys left, they agreed to give Caroline & Jennifer the Express Pass so they can skip the task. Jet was thinking this was a really good idea because now they are the only team with an Express Pass.

Meghan finally figured out her car and she helped John because he was struggling. They were the last 2 teams there, so she would have been better off not to help him. But, they had made a friendship on their last race together, and she felt bad for him. That was nice of her!

Detour: Featherball or China Cup

The Voice, Ep. 6.2

Team Adam

Delvin Choice
He's back for another try. He didn't have any luck last time, but Adam, Shakira and Blake turned around right away this time around. He's got a great voice, but there isn't really anything interesting and unique about him...other than his black version of the Flock of Seagulls haircut. At the last minute, Usher also turned around, so he went from no chairs to 4 chairs in just one season.

Cary Laine
It didn't take long for Adam to turn around. I don't know what his fascination with the country girls is. Shakira and Blake quickly followed. I can't say that I was overly impressed with her voice. She had a lot of twang in her voice, and a little bit of a rocker in her. However, I don't know if it was nerves or what, but I just didn't think her voice was rock solid, there was some shakiness in her voice. Obviously, the coaches didn't care because all 4 turned around. Adam even gave her a seat in his chair, and then Shakira's, and then Adam's...to see which one was more comfortable. They were really serious about trying to get her. Ultimately, Adam's speech about breaking out and doing something different, and saying he could offer more than what Blake could won her over.

Team Blake

Noah Lis
Yuck...I hate this style of music. I can appreciate that he has a very good voice, but I am not a fan. I thought we were in the clear, the song was done...and Adam and Blake both turned around!

Team Shakira

Deja Hall
She has a very beautiful tone. She sings so effortlessly and easy. Her voice is like crystal clear. I really like her. Another outstanding 16 year old. Blake and Shakira fought to be the first to turn around. Usher later joined the mix, and again Adam didn't turn around...I'm a little surprised.

Team Usher

Madilyn Paige
Beautiful voice! I can't believe she's only 16. She picked a really good song to show off all the different elements of her voice. I love her calmness at the beginning. But then she shows off her pipes on the chorus. Her high note was crazy and so controlled. I really like this girl. Usher and Shakira were surprisingly the only 2 to turn around. Adam would normally go for a girl like her.

The Voice, Ep. 6.1

Season 6 of The Voice is here! I'm so sorry I'm just now getting around to watching and posting about the first week of auditions. Things have been so crazy and I'm so behind on all of my shows. Hopefully next week, I'll be back on top of things.

So, let's get to the recap of the first episode and find out who the coaches have chosen for their teams.

Team Adam

Christina Grimmie
Usher and Shakira turned around right away, quickly followed by Adam. She immediately was captivating with her voice. It was slightly unique, and she had a lot of power. She had great tone, and great control. She was so amazing, that Blake finally had to turn around as well. Great audition!

Dawn & Hawkes
Interesting, odd couple. They compliment each other very well. I like their individual voices as well as them together. Guess what...they could definitely be the next Alex & Sierra (winners of last season's X Factor). Their style of music is very similar. Dawn looks a lot like Sierra. The main difference is that Alex is a lot cuter (like, a lot) than Hawkes. They only got Adam and Shakira to turn around. I was surprised that Blake didn't turn around.

Team Blake

Jake Worthington
He definitely has improved since last season when he tried out. He's a little on the boring side this time around, but his voice sounded really good. Adam had no business turning around...leave this guy for Blake...he doesn't have anyone yet. Blake turned around soon after Adam, and so did Shakira. Adam fought (I don't know why), and he ultimately chose Blake, which is really the only place he belongs.

Team Shakira

Kristen Merlin
Definitely not your stereotypical country singer. By voice alone she is, but not by looks that's for sure. I don't think she's very original, but she can definitely sing. Adam and Shakira turned right away. Waiting for Blake to turn...and he didn't! Blake said he didn't turn around because she had a killer vibrato and he thought Shakira would be able to help her better with that.

Jeremy Briggs
Good looking guy with a great voice to match. I loved his tone, and his voice was just so solid. He showed he can rock out, but he also had a very smooth delivery with the beginning of the song. His high notes were incredible. I like this guy! He got a turnaround from Blake and Shakira.

Team Usher

T.J. Wilkins
I wasn't so sure that his song choice was going to be a good one, but it obviously got the judges because Adam, Usher and Blake turned immediately. He has a very smooth voice, and he did a great job on "Benny and the Jets". He nailed the high notes. The further he got into the song, the better it got. He had some killer runs.

Biff Gore
Very soulful performance...just how he described himself. It didn't take long for 3 to turn around. Usher was the lone holdout, but he eventually caved in. I really liked what he did with the song. We've heard this song done so many times, and it always sounds the same. He added more soul and just changed up the song enough to make it interesting.

Bria Kelly
With one note, Adam and Blake both turned around! Wow! She has a killer rocker voice, and she is only 17! She is very strong, and she showed some grit later in the song as well. I didn't like the screaming so much, but the rest was good. And it was good enough for a 4-chair turnaround, and a 4-coach standing ovation. Eventually, Usher won her over with his display of his Grammy trophy.
